Chapter 670 Feeling Sad
Kathy hesitated for a moment before whispering, "Ms. Wilson, it's about Mr. Anderson. He knows you were watching Hayden at preschool and Spring at the villa. He's furious. He's already moved Hayden to a different school and won't let Spring out. He told Mary and me if we see you again, we're fired."
Hearing this, Susan frowned.
Susan originally thought that just sneaking a glance from afar wouldn't be a big deal, but she didn't expect Seb to find out.
Susan didn't want to make things difficult for Kathy, so she said, "Kathy, don't worry, I won't make things hard for you. Please take good care of Hayden and Spring."
"Of course, don't worry. Alright then, I'll hang up now." With that, Kathy ended the call.
In the days that followed, Susan found it particularly hard to endure, but she gritted her teeth and got through it.
For a whole month, Susan didn't contact Seb. She didn't know how much longer she could hold on, but she had to.
One day, when Susan arrived at work, she noticed that the shop across the firm was bustling with activity. There were flower baskets everywhere, and people were coming and going.
As soon as Susan walked into the accounting firm, Dorothy smiled and said, "Susan, the salon across the hallway is opening today. I heard the decor and facilities are very high-end, and the stylists are all from Skyhaven."
"The prices must be steep, right?" Susan couldn't help but say.
"A haircut costs at least $40, and if you want a Skyhaven stylist, it's $100," Dorothy replied with a smile.
"Don't you dare go there," Susan warned, aghast. "A hundred dollars for a haircut? That's highway robbery!"
"Isabella already signed up for a membership," Dorothy pointed at the salon.
Hearing this, Susan turned to look across the hallway and saw the salon bustling with people.
"She already spends a lot on clothes and makeup, and ever since she started dating Leon, she's been even more extravagant. But it's okay, Leon has a good salary and gets bonuses at the end of the year. Money left at home would just gather dust anyway!" Susan shook her head.
At that moment, Isabella walked in. "Hey, are you talking bad about me again?"
"How would I dare talk bad about you?" Seeing Isabella, Susan quickly winked at Dorothy.
Isabella, waving her VIP card, clarified, "I heard everything. I need to clarify that the money I spend now is all earned by myself. I haven't spent Leon's money, except for the gifts he willingly gives me."
At this point, Susan took the VIP card from Isabella's hand and looked at it, her eyes widening. "You recharged $1,400?"
"There's a promotion now. If you recharge $700, you get an additional $700, so I only spent $700," Isabella quickly explained.
"Only $700? You are so rich," Susan quickly returned the VIP card to Isabella.
"A woman has to know how to invest in herself. You just don't get it," Isabella said, shaking her head when she saw she wasn't being understood, and then put the VIP card away.
Susan turned to go back to her office, but before reaching the door, she suddenly turned back and asked, "By the way, why haven't I seen the newspaper these past two days? Did the delivery person not bring it?"
Hearing this, Isabella and Dorothy exchanged glances.
Dorothy was about to say something when Isabella quickly interjected, "Of course, it was delivered. But this morning, a cleaner said her house was being renovated and she needed some newspapers to cover the floor, so I gave them to her."
"Yes, yes, that cleaner is usually very nice, so Isabella and I didn't feel right refusing her," Dorothy quickly nodded vigorously.
Hearing this, Susan nodded and said, "Alright then."
With that, Susan turned and went into her office.
Standing at the door, Susan furrowed, feeling that Isabella and Dorothy's expressions were a bit odd.
The next moment, Susan reached out and opened a corner of the blinds, just in time to see Isabella handing a stack of newspapers to Dorothy, who then handed them to the receptionist. The receptionist finally put the newspapers in the cabinet, and they all looked relieved.
Susan withdrew her hand and crossed her arms. She thought, 'What are they up to? Why are they hiding the newspapers from me? And lying that the cleaner took them?'
Susan didn't dwell on it and walked to her desk to work.
At noon, Isabella came in to ask if she wanted to go out for lunch with them.
Susan shook her head and declined, saying she had work to do and asked Isabella to bring her back a lunch box.
After Isabella left, Susan suddenly remembered the newspaper incident from the morning and felt curious.
So, Susan got up and opened her office door. Seeing that they had all gone to lunch, she walked to the front desk, bent down, and took out the newspapers from the cabinet.
Susan flipped through the newspapers and magazines in her hand and couldn't help but frown.
The newspapers from the past few days were all filled with news about Seb and that Esme, many with pictures. The two were either holding hands or linking arms at events, and some reporters even captured Seb going to Esme's house. The reports speculated that Seb was so blatant because he had already agreed to a divorce with his ex-wife, who was low-key, and the reporters had never published her photos.
Seeing these reports, Susan's hand holding the newspaper stiffened!
To say she didn't care at all would be a lie, but strangely, when Susan saw these reports, she felt very calm.
Susan knew that Isabella and Dorothy had hidden the newspapers for her own good, to prevent her from feeling sad and upset.
After glancing through the newspapers, Susan quickly put them back before Isabella and the others returned from lunch, and then went back to her office alone.
At this moment, Susan had completely lost her focus on work. Leaning back in her chair, her mind was filled with all sorts of thoughts.
It seemed that Seb had grown tired of her. His relationship with Esme must have heated up by now, right?
Susan had met Esme before. To say that Seb would fall in love with her was something Susan found hard to believe. Over the years, Seb had encountered many beautiful and charming singers and models like Esme, but he had never had any entanglements with them. Seb was probably just playing around with Esme.
But eventually, someone would capture his heart. It was inevitable.
