Chapter 32
The host was counting down.
Seb quickly shrugged off his suit jacket, draped it over Susan's head, and pulled her into a tight embrace, pressing her against his chest.
His movements were smooth and quick. Susan opened her eyes to darkness, feeling Seb's strong hold, her forehead against his chin, and his familiar scent filling her senses.
As cheers and screams filled the air, Susan knew she was the envy of many women at that moment.
This time, she relished those envious looks.
Seb, like a solid rock, made her feel safe and secure. A warm feeling spread through her heart, and she realized she didn't dislike Seb as much as she thought. In fact, she liked his masculine scent.
"Pour the water!" the host commanded, and a bucket of ice water came down.
Susan heard the splash but didn't feel a drop. She hugged Seb's waist tighter, hoping less water would hit him. She was worried he might get sick.
The host spoke up, "Mr. Anderson is a truly considerate boss, taking all the ice water himself to protect his female employee. The employees of Prosperity Group are lucky to have such a good boss."
A few seconds later, Seb gently let go of Susan, and she quickly pulled her arms back. He took off the wet jacket, and she looked up at him with gratitude.
"Your reflection was well written!" Seb suddenly said.
"What?" Susan was confused.
Seb smiled, then turned and walked away with his wet jacket.
Susan stood there, stunned. Seb had read the reflection Isabella helped her write. 'If Seb said it was well written, does that mean I don't have to rewrite it?' She felt a bit happy, having completed the task.
Amelia quickly caught up with Seb, trying to wipe his wet hair and face with a handkerchief, but he pushed her away, rejecting her help.
Then Leon and Ellie came over, took Seb's jacket, and draped a towel over him. The group headed to the VIP area.
Seeing Amelia's failure, Susan felt even better. She stepped off the stage, but Amelia approached her.
"I've never seen such a shameless woman like you, pregnant and still seducing men!" Amelia sneered.
Susan held back her anger and smiled. "You're not pregnant, and you still couldn't seduce him, could you?"
Amelia was furious and ready to lash out.
Susan warned, "These are my colleagues, and Mr. Anderson has left. If you fight me here, it won't end well for you."
"Just wait and see!" Amelia stormed off.
After Amelia left, Isabella came over. Watching Amelia's back, she pouted and said, "She's like a mad dog every day!"
Susan stepped forward, took Isabella's arm, and smiled. "So if a dog bites us, we can't bite back, right? The juice over there is pretty good. Let's go grab another glass."
"Sure," Isabella agreed happily.
On the way, Isabella whispered, "I can tell Seb cares about you. When you fell earlier, his face changed!"
"He just cares about the baby. Do you really think he cares about me?" Susan said, but there was a hint of warmth in her heart.
"Every woman here would love to be in your shoes. The way Seb held you was so heroic, like a knight protecting his princess!" Isabella clasped her hands together, her eyes filled with envy.
Susan wasn't sure if she was lucky to have met Seb. When he was around, she felt genuinely safe.
For years, she had always been the protector. Even when she was with Andrew, she took care of him more. She had never experienced the feeling of being protected and cared for.
As the dinner party was winding down, Seb's secretary, Ellie, suddenly appeared in front of Susan.
"Ms. Wilson, I'm a bit timid, and the room in the VIP area is quite big. If you don't mind, could you keep me company tonight?" The usually strong Ellie looked a bit shy but left no room for refusal.
"Sure." Although Susan found Ellie's request a bit odd, she politely accepted.
"Shall we go get your luggage now?" Ellie smiled.
"Okay." Susan nodded.
When they reached the guest room, Ellie waited at the door while Susan went in to pack her things.
Isabella pulled Susan aside and whispered, "I don't think it's that simple!"
"What's not simple?" Susan frowned.
Isabella chuckled, "Isn't it obvious? Seb probably wants you to share his bed."
"Stop it! You're overthinking." Susan gave her a playful push.
"Just wait and see, I'm sure I'm right," Isabella said confidently.
Susan finished packing and said to Isabella, "I'll report back to you when I return." Then she grabbed her luggage and left with Ellie.
As soon as they entered the VIP area, Susan was stunned by the scene.
Under the soft moonlight, a large patch of tulips swayed in the breeze, and she smelled a faint fragrance. The trees nearby had white flowers that looked noble and pure, making her feel like she was in another world. The hot springs and swimming pool added a touch of magic to the place.
Behind the pool and hot springs were several exquisite villas. Ellie led Susan into one of them.
The villa's interior was naturally luxurious. Susan had never stayed in such a high-end place, so she couldn't help but marvel at the opulence, even the decorations were exquisite.
Ellie led Susan upstairs to a large bedroom. The bed inside was enormous, and the crystal chandelier illuminated the dark blue carpet, making everything look very luxurious.
"Is this your room?" Susan asked tentatively.
'Why aren't there two single beds? Am I supposed to share a big bed with Ellie?' Susan thought, feeling a bit strange.
"No, this is Mr. Anderson's room," Ellie replied immediately.
