Chapter 985 Married Life
In the next few days, Leon and Isabella went on a food tour around Maple Valley, hitting up all the fun spots.
Isabella hadn't had such chill and carefree days with someone she loved in years, and she was over the moon.
One evening, after stuffing themselves with a great meal, Isabella plopped down on the couch, rubbing her belly and frowning. "What am I gonna do? Eating and playing every day, my belly's getting bigger, and I've put on a ton of weight!"
With all the tasty food around, Isabella couldn't help but indulge, and she was sleeping like a baby every night. Her figure had definitely changed.
Seeing her worried look, Leon handed her a freshly squeezed juice and grinned. "A little extra weight just means there's more to love."
Isabella kicked him and laughed, "You're such a shameless flirt!"
Even though she was teasing, there was a happy smile on her face. Leon was just enjoying the banter; he couldn't make love with Isabella because she was pregnant.
Leon didn't mind the kick at all. He sat down next to her with a grin and started massaging her swollen calves and feet.
"I really am an older mom-to-be. My feet are swelling up. Guess women should get married and have kids at the right age," Isabella sighed.
"Well, you should've met me sooner," Leon chuckled.
Isabella rolled her eyes. "Blame Seb for meeting Susan so late and holding us up."
"Fair point," Leon nodded.
Watching Leon massage her feet, Isabella suddenly said, "Hey, you can't just hang out with me doing nothing every day. You should get back to work at Prosperity Group. Your vacation's been way too long; it might mess with your year-end bonus."
Leon shrugged. "I get an annual salary. At the end of the year, I get dividends based on the company's performance, not a year-end bonus."
Isabella frowned. "I'll give birth in a month. When I do, you'll definitely be taking care of me. If you don't work for several months a year, it's not right. Even if Seb doesn't say anything, others will. Plus, a guy should focus on his career. You can't just be all about me."
Leon looked at her with interest.
"Why are you staring at me like that? Did I say something wrong?" Isabella asked, frowning.
Leon smiled. "I find you more and more thoughtful, totally different from the wild girl you used to be."
"Cut it out! Don't ever call me a wild girl or crazy woman again!" Isabella warned him.
"But I love your wild side. What am I supposed to do?" Leon's hand caressed her foot, his eyes full of affection.
Feeling his gaze, Isabella smiled and said happily, "Seems like if I didn't have that wild side, you wouldn't have fallen for me."
"Exactly," Leon nodded.
At that moment, Isabella grabbed a pillow, lay on it, and said, "Then I guess I have to go crazy from time to time, or you won't love me anymore."
Hearing this, Leon just smiled and kept massaging Isabella's feet.
After a bit, Isabella kicked him again. "I'm serious about you going to work. Are you going or not?"
Leon finally said, "Actually, Mr. Anderson told me at our wedding banquet that I should start work next Monday."
"Next Monday? That's tomorrow!" Isabella sat up quickly.
Seeing her serious expression, Leon reached out and touched her hair. "If you want me to stay home with you, I won't go to work this year."
Isabella was both amused and touched by his words.
She leaned into his arms and murmured, "Of course, I want you with me all the time, but I can't be selfish and hold you back. You have important things to do!"
"Alright then, I'll take a long leave when you give birth," Leon said, stroking her back and kissing her forehead.
Suddenly, Isabella put on her shoes and headed to the bedroom.
"Where are you going?" Leon quickly followed.
Isabella walked into the closet and started picking out suits and shirts for Leon, then grabbed a few ties and compared them with the shirts.
"You need to look sharp for work tomorrow, or people will think I'm a lousy wife," Isabella said, holding a shirt and tie against him.
"Aren't you worried I'll be too handsome and attract attention?" Leon teased, lowering his head.
Isabella shot back, "You're mine now. If anyone tries to make a move on you, I'll storm into Prosperity Group and fight her!"
She clenched her fists, looking ready to defend her love.
Leon laughed. "With a fierce wife like you, I don't think anyone would dare."
"It better be that way," Isabella said, then reconsidered. She put the shirt and tie back and pulled out an old, unattractive shirt and a plain black tie, tossing them to Leon.
"You're wearing these tomorrow!" she declared and walked out of the closet.
Looking at the clothes in his hands, Leon said with a wry smile, "Weren't you going to dress me sharp and dashing?"
"Forget it, no one will be interested in you if you're dressed like that!" Isabella's voice came from the bedroom.
Leon shook his head with a smile and took the shirt and tie back to the bedroom to get ready for tomorrow.
The next morning, Leon actually went to work wearing the clothes Isabella had picked for him.
Thinking about how he looked like a hotel security guard, Isabella laughed under the covers.
She had done it on purpose, thinking he wouldn't actually wear such clothes to work.
But to her surprise, he really wore the black suit, white shirt, and black tie to work.
That morning, when Leon walked into Seb's office, Seb's eyes scanned him up and down.
"Mr. Anderson, is there something wrong with me today?" Leon asked, looking down at himself.
Seb smirked and joked, "I thought you'd look more sharp and dashing on your first day back after the wedding. Maybe I should reimburse you for some new clothes."
