Chapter 543 Irresistible Emotions
Seb looked up at Rylee, who returned his gaze with a similarly confused expression. It was clear she had no idea what was going on either.
Susan glanced coldly at Carol, who was sitting next to her. Carol's face was expressionless, her eyes fixed straight ahead, showing no regard for Susan.
Susan felt something was off today and couldn't figure out what Carol was up to.
She turned to look at Andrew, who was sitting in the front passenger seat. He exchanged a glance with Carol.
Susan immediately understood that today's events were likely orchestrated by Carol and Andrew.
A sense of inexplicable fear gripped Susan, making her feel that this had something to do with her.
Moreover, Andrew had ulterior motives, and now he had completely gained Carol's trust. Carol didn't even trust Seb and Rylee anymore, only him.
About ten minutes later, the car suddenly turned and stopped in front of a budget hotel.
"Mom, what are we doing here?" Rylee suddenly frowned and asked.
Carol sneered. "You'll find out soon enough."
Then she turned to Susan and said, "Susan, give me your bag."
Susan, puzzled, met Carol's cold gaze.
Carol's tone was commanding and unquestionable, and Susan instinctively handed over her bag.
Carol snatched the bag from Susan's hand and threw it to the driver in the front, saying, "Hold Mrs. Susan Anderson's bag!"
"Yes," the driver quickly nodded.
"Let's go!" Carol then got out of the car, followed by Andrew and Rylee, who quickly entered the budget hotel.
At this point, Seb and Susan also got out of the car.
"Seb, what is Mom up to?" Susan felt a sense of panic.
Seb frowned and replied, "I don't know either. Don't let Hayden and Spring go up; we'll go check it out."
Seb also felt that nothing good would come of today, so he didn't want the kids to go up.
He then grabbed Susan's hand and followed Carol and the others into the budget hotel.
Carol, Andrew, and Rylee entered the elevator first.
Seb then quickly pulled Susan into the elevator.
Andrew pressed the button for the 22nd floor, and the elevator doors closed, starting to move slowly.
"Mom, aren't we supposed to be going out for lunch? Why are we at this budget motel?" Rylee frowned and asked.
Andrew frowned, suddenly remembering something, and said, "If I'm not mistaken, this hotel should be under our Prosperity Group."
Carol sneered. "What a coincidence."
Andrew frowned again.
Carol then said, "Rylee, Seb, there's a good show waiting for us!"
Everyone was a bit confused, and Susan frowned, not knowing what Carol was planning.
Early that morning, Catherine received a text message from Todd.
Todd: [I miss you a lot. Let's meet today. I'll be waiting for you at room 2201 of the Cozy Inn at 11 AM. Don't be late!]
Receiving this message, Catherine felt uneasy.
She had agreed with Todd a few days ago to meet only after his divorce. Why had he changed his mind after just two days?
Catherine hesitated for a long time before replying: [Today is New Year's Day; I have to cook at home.]
Todd quickly replied: [I can't call you right now, but I really miss you. I didn't sleep a wink last night and feel terrible.]
Seeing this message, Catherine couldn't stay calm. She was very worried about Todd's health and decided to go.
Then she replied: [I'll be there at 11 AM.]
After sending the message, Catherine quickly prepared lunch and left the house at 10:30 AM.
Sitting in the clean and tidy budget hotel room, Catherine took off her coat and hung it on the rack. She had arrived early, and Todd hadn't arrived yet.
Seeing the kettle in the room, Catherine boiled some water and made a cup of coffee.
After a while, there was a knock on the door.
Catherine quickly tidied her hair and straightened her gray sweater before stepping to open the door.
As soon as the door opened, she saw Todd standing outside in a black cashmere coat. Their eyes met, and the longing was evident.
"Todd, come in!"
As soon as Todd entered, Catherine quickly closed the door.
"Catherine, did you miss me?" Todd asked with a smile, staring at her.
Catherine pursed her lips and said, "It's warm inside; take off your coat."
"Okay." Todd obediently took off his coat and hung it on the rack.
At this point, Catherine had already brought a steaming cup of coffee to Todd and said softly, "It's cold outside. I made you some coffee to warm up."
Todd happily took the cup from Catherine, accidentally touching her hand. Catherine's hand trembled, spilling some coffee on her hand. She exclaimed, "Ouch!"
Seeing this, Todd quickly put the cup on the table and nervously grabbed Catherine's hand, asking, "Are you okay? Did it burn you?"
Seeing his worried expression, Catherine smiled and said, "It's nothing. I'm old, not that delicate."
Todd, however, took her hand to the bathroom, rinsed it with cold water, and dried it with a towel before smiling and saying, "You're not old at all!"
Hearing this, Catherine blushed and shyly left the bathroom, standing by the window, her hand on her chest, feeling her heart race.
Todd looked at Catherine's graceful figure, frowned, and quickly walked over, hugging her waist from behind and kissing her neck twice before saying breathlessly, "Catherine, I can't stop thinking about you. I can't sleep at night because I miss you so much."
Hearing this, Catherine covered Todd's hand on her waist and frowned. "You're not young anymore; you need to take care of your health, okay?"
"I know, I promise I will," he murmured against her skin.
She leaned back against him, a wave of tenderness washing over her.
"Catherine," Todd whispered, kissing her face.
"Todd, don't..." Catherine's voice trailed off.
The curtains were tightly drawn, and the two people who missed each other dearly held each other close.
