Chapter 1375 Sadness

At that moment, Calliope slowly approached Cecilia, sitting beside her and whispering, "Boss, Thaddeus's dad looks really pitiful. He went out in just a thin shirt, forgot his coat. He must be really heartbroken!"

Cecilia smirked. "You know what they say, 'no use crying over spilled milk.'"

"But I can tell he really loves you," Calliope found herself defending Daryl without realizing it.

Cecilia smiled at Calliope. "You've never been in love, so you don't get it. It's not just about loving each other."

"But finding someone who loves you back is already so hard. With all your requirements, there might not be many people in the world who can get married," Calliope frowned.

"You've never been in a relationship, so you wouldn't get it. Alright, I'm going to make a cake. Keep an eye on the front." With that, Cecilia got up and went to the back.

Cecilia quickly put the finished cake into the oven, set the timer, and leaned against the door, feeling exhausted.

She knew Daryl too well. He was inherently proud and extremely arrogant.

That was why she deliberately said she didn't care about him anymore, didn't love him, and told him not to use Thaddeus to manipulate her.

Cecilia's plan worked. Daryl left, and he left heartbroken.

Two hours had passed, and Daryl's dejected and helpless face still lingered in her mind.

After all, she and Daryl had been married and deeply in love. He was also Thaddeus's father. Seeing him so sad made Cecilia feel bad, but she reminded herself: she wouldn't soften. She had finally started a new life and wasn't going back.

That morning, Daryl stepped into the living room.

Azalea and Elijah were discussing wedding plans.

Seeing Daryl suddenly return, Elijah stood up and smiled, "Daryl, you're back?"

"Yeah," Daryl nodded, then greeted his mother on the couch. "Mom."

"Why are you back at this time? Did you take a red-eye flight?" Azalea looked at her son, noticing his tired face and bloodshot eyes, clearly from lack of sleep.

"Red-eye flights are nice and quiet," Daryl forced a smile.

Elijah glanced at the entrance, confirming no one followed Daryl, then frowned, "Daryl, did you come back alone? Where's Cecilia?"

"Yeah, where's Cecilia?" Azalea asked anxiously.

Daryl frowned, then answered seriously, "Mom, Cecilia isn't coming back. She's no longer part of the Fields family." He turned to Elijah and said, "Elijah, she and I are divorced."

Hearing this, Azalea and Elijah both frowned deeply.

Before they could speak, Daryl asked the butler, Finn, "Where's Thaddeus?"

"Thaddeus is still sleeping," Finn quickly replied.

"I'll go check on Thaddeus." Elijah then headed straight to Thaddeus's room.

Azalea turned to Elijah, "What's wrong with him?"

Elijah replied, "He probably couldn't get Cecilia to change her mind."

"Daryl looks so disheartened, it's worrying," Azalea said with concern.

"Mom, after what Daryl did to Cecilia, she can't forgive him right away," Elijah said.

"True," Azalea nodded.

When Daryl entered Thaddeus's room, it was gloomy outside, making the room even darker in the morning.

Thaddeus lay on his pillow, sleeping soundly.

Daryl walked over quietly, squatting by the bed, looking at Thaddeus's chubby face, feeling a lump in his throat.

He stared at his son for a long time, then gently touched Thaddeus's cheek and held his little chubby hand, saying softly, "Thaddeus, I'm sorry. Daddy couldn't bring Mommy back. But don't worry, Daddy will always be with you and won't let you suffer anymore."

After saying this, Daryl couldn't continue. He lowered his head, kissed Thaddeus's little hand, and then buried his face in it.

At that moment, two figures stood outside the slightly open door.

Hearing Daryl's sorrowful words, Azalea frowned deeply.

Standing beside her, Elijah also felt a pang in his heart. Daryl's words were truly heartbreaking.

Elijah, not wanting to disturb Daryl, gently led Azalea away from Thaddeus's room.

Elijah helped his mother back to her bedroom, where Azalea sighed deeply.

Sitting on the bed, Azalea worriedly said, "Oh, Daryl seems really hurt this time. If Cecilia never forgives him, what will we do?"

"Mom, I think Daryl needs to put in more effort. Cecilia is probably testing him," Elijah said.

Azalea frowned, "If it's just a test, that's fine. But what if she doesn't want to come back? Then Daryl and Thaddeus will be pitiful."

Seeing his mother so worried, Elijah thought for a moment, then smiled, "Mom, don't worry. I have a plan."

"What plan?" Azalea asked skeptically.

"Just wait and see," Elijah said, then turned and left.

"These kids, always making me worry," Azalea muttered.

Elijah went upstairs and entered the new room set up for him and Elowen.

Elowen was still lying in bed.

"Isn't it time to get up?" Elijah whispered, leaning close to Elowen's pillow.

Elowen's eyelids fluttered, then she stretched and said playfully, "I'm still sleepy."

"The sun's already up, and you're still sleepy?" Elijah laughed.

Elowen finally opened her sleepy eyes and smiled, "It's not me who's still sleepy, it's your baby."

Hearing this, Elijah gently pinched Elowen's cheek, saying affectionately, "You're always blaming the baby. Let's see what you say after the baby is born."

"You're so annoying. You only care about the baby, not me," Elowen pouted, wrapping her arms around Elijah's neck.

Elijah kissed her cheek and said, "I care about both."

"That's more like it!" Elowen tapped Elijah's nose.

Then Elijah said, "Hurry up and get dressed. I have something important to tell you."

"When do you ever have something important?" Elowen teased.

"I really do. Hurry up," Elijah said, finding Elowen's clothes and helping her dress.

"What is it?" Elowen asked, curious.

Elijah whispered in Elowen's ear for a long time.

Elowen listened, then smiled and nodded.
