Chapter 1319 Meet Again
Thaddeus was full and content, and Cecilia gently placed the sleeping baby into his crib.
Gazing at the chubby, adorable Thaddeus, Cecilia felt a deep sense of satisfaction. This child was truly a gift from God, one she had fought hard to bring into the world. Watching him grow day by day, even though she was raising him alone, Cecilia never felt lonely. Instead, her heart was full.
Cecilia tucked Thaddeus in and quietly left the bedroom.
"Freya, Thaddeus is asleep. I'm heading back to the café," Cecilia said to Freya, who was busy with housework.
"Got it," Freya replied, giving Cecilia an OK gesture.
Cecilia then hurried off on her scooter.
Every day, she juggled running her business and taking care of Thaddeus. Though it was exhausting, she felt incredibly happy and fulfilled. Her son was her everything now.
As soon as Cecilia pushed open the café door, the barista, Elowen, greeted her with a smile. "Boss, guess who's here!"
Hearing this, Cecilia turned her head and saw a familiar face sitting by the window.
"Elijah!" Cecilia called out, smiling as she walked over.
"Hey, Cecilia! I brought some clothes, formula, and toys for Thaddeus," Elijah said, waving at her.
Elowen held up several shopping bags. Cecilia glanced at the bags and couldn't help but smile. "You always bring so much for Thaddeus. Thanks a lot."
Elowen then put the bags away.
Cecilia sat across from Elijah, who smiled and said, "Thaddeus is my nephew. It's only right I bring him things."
"When he grows up, he'll definitely appreciate his uncle," Cecilia said sincerely.
Since Thaddeus was born, Elijah visited every month, always bringing gifts. He adored Thaddeus, and even though Thaddeus was only eight months old, he already recognized Elijah and would laugh happily whenever he saw him.
"He better appreciate me. I don't plan on getting married," Elijah joked.
Cecilia frowned slightly. "You still don't have a girlfriend?"
Ever since Elijah confessed his feelings for her at the airport, Cecilia had been avoiding being alone with him. She sensed that Elijah might be too invested in her, and given their already complicated situation, she couldn't afford any more misunderstandings.
Elijah never acted inappropriately around her, but his attention to Thaddeus was noticeable. So, Cecilia occasionally nudged him about his love life.
Elijah's smile faded, and he frowned. "Cecilia, if you're going to tell me to find a girlfriend, save it. I'm a lifelong bachelor."
"I never asked you to get married first. You can date without getting married," Cecilia said, frowning.
Elijah looked at her intently, then suddenly smiled. "Dating requires a partner, right? I can't date by myself."
Cecilia sighed. "You're worrying the whole family."
"Mom and Daryl used to pressure me about continuing the Fields family line, but now that we have Thaddeus, I'm off the hook," Elijah said with a laugh.
"You," Cecilia said, smiling.
Just then, Elowen came over with a steaming cup of coffee. "Try our new blend. I added two sugars, just how you like it."
Elowen placed the coffee in front of Elijah.
"Thanks," Elijah said, smiling at Elowen.
Elowen blushed and quickly turned away.
Cecilia watched Elowen head to the back to make more coffee and teased, "Hey, what do you think of Elowen?"
"What?" Elijah looked puzzled.
"Elowen is young, pretty, and seems to like you," Cecilia said with a smile.
"Cecilia, stop teasing me. I'm going to see Thaddeus. It's been a month, and he's probably grown," Elijah said, standing up and quickly leaving.
Watching Elijah's retreating figure, Cecilia smiled. It seemed his love life wasn't ready to blossom yet.
Elowen came out with more coffee, looking around.
"He's already gone," Cecilia said with a smile.
"I wasn't looking for him," Elowen said, blushing, and went to serve the coffee to a customer.
Calliope Ashford, another employee, came over, laughing. "Boss, Elowen's embarrassed."
Cecilia chuckled.
"Boss, a customer ordered your honey cake," Calliope said.
"I'll get right on it," Cecilia said, heading to the back to bake.
Halfway through, Calliope came in again. "Boss, someone ordered your matcha cake."
"Got it," Cecilia replied, not stopping her work.
Twenty minutes later, Cecilia came out with a tray.
Elowen quickly took the honey cake for a customer. "Boss, I'll take this honey cake. The matcha cake is for the customer by the window."
"Okay," Cecilia nodded.
Cecilia placed the tray on the counter and took the matcha cake to the window seat. "Sir, your matcha cake."
When Cecilia looked up at the man in the gray suit by the window, her smile froze.
The man's expression was cold, with a hint of melancholy in his eyes. His stern and aloof demeanor was intimidating.
Cecilia swallowed her words. Seeing him, she knew her whereabouts had been discovered.
She had anticipated this day but didn't expect it to come so suddenly.
Cecilia slowly sat across from him, her eyes fixed on him.
After a year and a half, his appearance hadn't changed much, but his eyes and the cold aura he exuded had. Despite it being spring, he still gave off a chilling vibe.
At that moment, he was also staring at her. Neither spoke, just silently observing each other.
