Chapter 896 I Can't Bear Your Love

Ellie went dead silent, her eyes locked on Seb, fear and panic all over her face. "What are you talking about? What did you do?"

Susan, hearing Seb's words, looked at him, totally confused.

Susan knew Seb too well. He always had a knack for turning things around when it mattered most. Since he had already figured out Ellie's plan, there was no way he hadn't taken precautions. Susan was desperately hoping he could flip the script this time too.

Then Seb dropped the bombshell.

"Ellie, you did manage to steal my sperm while I was drunk, but when you went for the IVF, the sperm the doctor used wasn't mine. So, the baby you're carrying isn't mine!" Seb said, ice-cold.

Ellie stumbled back, shaking her head. "No, that's impossible!"

"You deserve it. The doctor who did your IVF was my guy," Seb said with a smirk.

"What? How could you do this? Seb, you're even worse than me!" Ellie shrieked, falling apart.

"To deal with someone as low as you, I had to get dirty too!" Seb didn't hold back.

Hearing that the baby wasn't Seb's, Susan looked at him in disbelief. Everything was happening so fast; she was overwhelmed.

Ellie clutched her stomach and lunged at Seb, grabbing his shirt. "Then whose baby am I carrying? Whose is it?"

Susan felt torn seeing Ellie like this.

In the end, Ellie didn't even know whose baby she was carrying.

Seb calmly replied, "Honestly, I don't know either, because I had the doctor pick randomly from the sperm bank. But don't worry, the donors are all healthy and successful, so your kid will be fine!"

"Sperm bank?" Ellie let go of his shirt and started laughing and crying hysterically.

Seeing Ellie like this, Seb frowned. "Of course, you can also choose not to have this kid. It's your call!"

"Seb, I hate you! I'll hate you forever, and I'll curse you for the rest of my life!" Ellie screamed a few more times before running off.

Watching her go, Seb said deeply, "If I had a choice, I'd rather you hate me because your love is too terrifying for me to handle!"

Susan was a mess of emotions. She suddenly felt that Ellie was actually really pitiful. What would she do now? Would she have this baby she had so many hopes for? She didn't even know who the father was.

Seeing Susan silent for so long, Seb reached out and touched her shoulder.

Susan flinched, startled.

"What's wrong?" Seb asked, concerned.

"Nothing," Susan quickly shook her head.

Seeing her pale face, Seb frowned and asked, "Do you think I went too far?"

Susan stayed quiet, taking it all in.

She knew Seb had no other choice. If he hadn't taken precautions, things could've gone south for him.

But seeing Ellie lose it, Susan couldn't help but wonder if Seb had gone too far.

As a mom who'd been pregnant twice, Susan felt sorry for what Ellie was going through.

Seb pulled Susan into his arms, resting his chin on her head. "I thought about this for days before doing it. I know it was harsh, but if I hadn't, she would've caught on, and maybe today it would be Prosperity Group facing bankruptcy. If Ellie had my kid, the one who'd suffer most would be you. Ellie is scarier than I thought; she wanted to use a kid to get back at me. Just thinking about it gives me chills. Twenty years later, my kid but also my enemy? I don't know what I'd do."

Susan looked up and saw the helplessness and fear in Seb's eyes.

To her, Seb was always the guy who could handle anything, always turning danger into safety.

She'd never seen fear and helplessness in his eyes before. Maybe only his family could hurt him; the harm from loved ones was way more direct and aggressive than from enemies.

At that moment, Susan got it. Seb had to think not just for himself but for Prosperity Group and for all his loved ones. He was suffering too.

"Don't say anymore. I get it. I'm just being soft-hearted. Maybe dealing with bad people needs bad tactics," Susan said with a faint smile.

"It's all over now," Seb said, smiling.

"Our life is just beginning," Susan said, smiling back.

"Yeah, our life is just beginning," Seb said, stroking her hair, his eyes full of affection.

After that day, things went back to normal. Life was peaceful but warm. Every day was fulfilling and vibrant for Seb and Susan.

At ten in the morning, Susan, as usual, brought a freshly squeezed orange juice and walked into the CEO's office.

Every day at ten in the morning and four in the afternoon, Susan made sure Seb took a break from his busy work, had some tea, ate some fruit, and rested for fifteen minutes.

"Take a break," Susan said, smiling as she placed the juice on the desk, seeing Seb still buried in his files.

"Let me finish this document," Seb said without looking up.

Susan gave him a helpless look, then walked over and closed the file in front of him.

"I was halfway through. If I stop now, I'll have to start over," Seb complained, looking up.

Though he complained, there was a smile on his lips, and his eyes were full of helplessness towards Susan.

"Then start over. You have an appointment at ten twenty. You'll wear yourself out if you don't take a break!" Susan said, pulling Seb up from his swivel chair.
