Chapter 641 Smooth Relationship
Hearing her choked voice, Seb frowned and then gently wrapped his hands around her waist.
"Are you saying goodbye to me?" His deep voice sounded in Susan's ear.
Susan then lifted her head, looking at Seb with sorrowful eyes. "We probably won't have many chances to meet in the future. I hope you always do well."
"You take care too!" Seb said.
"Mm. Don't worry." Susan nodded while sobbing.
"Hayden and Spring will be back next week. This week, rest well at home and take care of yourself," Seb advised, looking at the now much thinner Susan.
"I will." Susan nodded.
At this moment, Seb glanced up and saw the elevator indicator showing they had reached the third floor, meaning the elevator would reach the first floor in three seconds. He only had three more seconds to be with her.
In an instant, Seb lowered his head and kissed her lips.
Susan was stunned for a moment, then involuntarily moved forward to wrap her arms around his neck, kissing him passionately!
But just as the kiss began, the elevator reached the first floor.
Then, the elevator doors opened!
Several people waiting for the elevator outside saw them kissing passionately inside, and their eyes widened in surprise, with some even gasping.
The next moment, Susan resolutely pushed Seb away, turned around, and quickly ran out of the elevator without looking back!
Standing in the elevator, Seb frowned deeply, his melancholic eyes watching her slender figure disappear.
Susan didn't even know how she got back to Isabella's house, only that she sat on the sofa without eating or drinking for a long time, until the sun set.
At six o'clock in the evening, the sound of a key turning in the lock suddenly came from the door.
Susan turned her head and saw the door open, with Leon pushing Isabella in a wheelchair inside.
"You're back?" Seeing them, Susan hurriedly stood up.
Isabella, sitting in the wheelchair, blushed a little, while Leon looked very spirited and joyful.
At this moment, Isabella turned to Leon and said, "You can go now."
"Alright." Leon nodded, very compliant, unlike the old days when they would argue as soon as they met.
"Do you want me to order some takeout for you?" Leon turned back after stepping out the door.
Hearing this, Susan was about to say it wasn't necessary, but Isabella smiled generously and said, "We want Mexican food."
"Okay." Leon nodded and then closed the door.
At this moment, Susan observed Isabella's smiling face and asked, "Did our plan succeed?"
Hearing this, Isabella immediately made a shushing gesture. "Keep your voice down, he might not have gone far yet!"
Hearing this, Susan knew their plan had succeeded.
Susan quickly pushed Isabella to the sofa, sat beside her, and asked anxiously, "Tell me quickly, are you two dating now?"
"Mm." Isabella lowered her head, nodding vigorously and giggling, her face blushed.
Seeing Isabella's expression, Susan was very happy for her and couldn't help but tease, "Looks like you might finally get married this year."
"Why are you talking about marriage already?" Isabella frowned upon hearing this.
"I'm just saying you're not young anymore, it's time to think about your future. Otherwise, you'll be an older mother when you have kids." Susan teased.
"I don't want to have kids so early. I'm just starting to enjoy the feeling of being in love," Isabella said, looking up at the ceiling with a contented expression.
Susan, however, smiled and said, "I'm just worried that you and Leon, after holding back for so many years, might get carried away and end up with a baby, and then you won't be able to enjoy your time together."
"Do you think I'm like you? I have self-respect and self-love, okay?" Isabella retorted immediately.
Isabella's words made Susan blush.
The atmosphere became a bit awkward, so Isabella quickly grabbed Susan's hand and said, "I speak without thinking, don't take it to heart."
"I know what kind of person you are!" Susan pushed Isabella lightly. Actually, she was just reminded of the bittersweet farewell with Seb earlier today.
"By the way, what happened between you and Seb today?" Isabella seemed to notice something was off with Susan.
"What could happen between us? We just wished each other well." Susan lowered her eyes, looking dejected.
"Why can't both of us have a smooth relationship at the same time?" Isabella shook her head and sighed.
"Having at least one of us with a smooth love life is already pretty good. Don't ask for too much." Susan patted Isabella's hand.
"Let's hope we both recover soon so we can get back to work, and then I can take you out to relax." Isabella comforted Susan.
"Forget it, you'll definitely be caught up in a sweet romance with Leon. I won't disturb you. I haven't worked properly for a long time, so I'll focus on my career from now on." Susan said considerately.
"Since you say so, I won't force you." Isabella stretched her arms above her head and yawned.
For the next week, Susan recuperated at Isabella's house, while Isabella was frequently taken out on dates by Leon.
A week later, Seb kept his word, and Hayden and Spring returned. Susan took them to stay at her place for two days before going back to work.
Half a month later, Isabella's leg healed, and she also returned to work.
One day, Maria placed a resignation letter on Susan's desk.
Susan glanced at the resignation letter and then looked up at Maria, asking, "Are you really leaving?"
"Susan, you and Isabella are back at work, so it's time for me to leave. You know George is usually very busy with work, and I need to take care of his daily needs." Maria said apologetically with a smile.
Susan nodded. "I understand. Go pack your things. I'll ask Isabella to give you three months' salary as compensation from the firm."
"No, that's not necessary," Maria refused, shaking her head. "My contract clearly states this is a voluntary resignation, not a dismissal. I can't accept that."
"Even so, you've been a tremendous help in my absence. Consider it a token of my appreciation," Susan insisted sincerely.
