Chapter 1007 Narrow Paths for Enemies
They hit up this fancy mall, but after checking out a bunch of high-end stores, they still hadn't found anything that clicked.
Pointing at the sign as they strolled up to a boutique, Susan said to Isabella, "Seb and Leon have a ton of stuff from this brand. Wanna check it out?"
"Sure," Isabella replied, glancing at the brand. Susan was right; Leon did have a lot of clothes from this place. So, they walked in together.
As soon as they stepped inside, Isabella was scanning the men's section when she heard a familiar voice.
"Do you have this shirt in medium?" A tall woman in a red coat pointed to a light blue shirt on the shelf and asked.
The sales assistant quickly responded, "Miss, you have a great eye. This is our limited edition for spring this year. The material and design incorporate the most popular elements of the year. Of course, the price is relatively high."
"As long as I like it, the price is not an issue," the woman said confidently, raising her chin.
"Miss, I'll get the size you need right away. Please wait a moment!" The sales assistant hurried off to get the shirt.
Isabella was visibly stunned when she saw Bronte! She thought, 'I can't believe I ran into her here.'
Susan also spotted Bronte. Knowing the bad blood between Isabella and Bronte, Susan frowned.
"The clothes here aren't that great. Why don't we check out another store?" Susan suggested, trying to avoid any drama.
"Okay," Isabella nodded.
Isabella and Leon's life was pretty great now. Bronte's feelings were one-sided, so Isabella didn't want to stir up unnecessary trouble. After all, Bronte's dad was a big shot at Johnson Corporation, and Isabella didn't want to make things tough for Leon.
Just as they were about to leave, Bronte called out, "Susan, Isabella, are you leaving because you saw me? Do you hate me, or are you afraid of me?"
Isabella frowned at this.
Susan grabbed Isabella's hand, giving her a look that said, "Don't let her get to you."
Isabella got Susan's point, but she wasn't one to back down.
She turned around and sneered, "We just think the clothes from this brand aren't that great, so we're going to check out another store. Bronte, is there a problem?"
Bronte crossed her arms and smiled. "Of course not. But my boyfriend loves this brand. I think it's pretty good!"
Just then, the sales assistant came back with the shirt, saying enthusiastically, "Miss, I found the size you wanted."
"Thank you. Please pair it with a tie, preferably in a more formal color. My boyfriend is a serious person and doesn't like anything too flashy," Bronte instructed the sales assistant.
"Okay, please wait a moment!" The sales assistant hurried off to find the tie Bronte wanted.
"If you like it, take your time choosing," Isabella said, giving Bronte a quick glance before turning to leave.
But Bronte wasn't about to let her go that easily. She stepped in front of Isabella, blocking her path, and sneered, "You look like you've lost some weight. Must be working hard to keep up with a guy like Leon, huh?"
Isabella's fists clenched in anger.
Susan stepped forward, glaring at Bronte. "Bronte, mind your own business. You're overstepping."
"Susan, you've changed since you became Mrs. Anderson. You both think you're something special now, huh? But let me tell you, people like you will never be high-status."
"Don't worry, we never wanted to be high-status. Unlike you, who has the status but lacks the class. We don't want to live like you; it sounds miserable!" Susan shot back.
Bronte's face turned red with anger. "Susan, stay out of this. It's none of your business."
"No way! Standing up to a bully like you is everyone's business!" Susan said firmly.
"You..." Bronte was so mad she couldn't even form a sentence.
Seeing Bronte's flustered expression, Isabella couldn't help but smirk.
Just then, the sales assistant returned with two ties. She noticed the tension but kept her head down, focusing on her job. "Miss, how do these two ties look with the shirt?" She held up a black and white striped tie and a blue and white striped tie.
Bronte pointed to the black and white one. "This one. My boyfriend likes more formal colors."
"Okay, I'll wrap it up for you right away," the sales assistant said, hurrying to pack the items.
Susan and Isabella exchanged a glance and then smiled. "Let's not waste any more time here. Let's go find some Valentine's Day gifts!"
"Okay," Isabella nodded, and they left together.
Bronte watched them go, her eyes flashing with anger, but then she smiled sinisterly.
As Susan and Isabella walked out of the boutique, Susan couldn't help but grumble, "Today is really not our day."
"My good mood is totally ruined," Isabella complained.
Seeing Isabella's spirits down, Susan took her arm and said, "Don't let that crazy woman get to you, okay? That would just make her happy."
"It seems she still hasn't given up on Leon," Isabella said, her eyes showing a mix of worry and annoyance.
Susan noticed the worry in Isabella's eyes and tried to comfort her. "Bronte's just mad because Leon hasn't given her the time of day. You should be reassured. Besides, how could Leon be interested in someone like her?"
