Chapter 1284 Tragic Couple

Seeing Daryl's face, Cecilia felt her dried tears begin to flow again.

She just looked at him, silently crying.

Cecilia's distressed expression completely extinguished Daryl's earlier anger, replacing it with a deep sense of heartache.

The next moment, Daryl stepped forward and pulled Cecilia into his arms.

Cecilia sobbed uncontrollably in his broad embrace.

Daryl could only pat her trembling back, his brows furrowed in concern.

"Don't cry. I'm here for you," Daryl whispered after a long pause.

Just a few words - but they wrapped around Cecilia like a warm blanket, soothing her frayed nerves.

Seeing Cecilia's emotions gradually settle, Daryl gently pushed her shoulders back and gazed down at her tear-streaked face, feeling a surge of anxiety.

At that moment, Cecilia met Daryl's eyes and asked hoarsely, "How did you find me here?"

Hearing this, Daryl couldn't help but say, "Mom called saying you hadn't been home all day. I tried calling you, but you didn't answer. I thought something had happened to you, so I had to ask my friend in the police to help track your phone. I found out you were nearby and came looking for you! I was worried about you."

Cecilia's lips twitched at his words, noticing the sweat on Daryl's forehead.

The next moment, she took out a handkerchief from her bag and gently wiped the sweat from Daryl's forehead.

Her touch was so tender that it broke Daryl's heart.

The next moment, Daryl grabbed the hand holding the handkerchief.

"What happened today?" Daryl asked with a frown.

Cecilia lowered her head and said, "Didn't Mom tell you?"

"Mom called me this morning, saying there was something important and I needed to come home. But I was in the middle of a crucial meeting and couldn't leave. When I called her back in the afternoon, she said you hadn't been home all day, so I focused on finding you first," Daryl explained.

Hearing Daryl's explanation, Cecilia started crying again. "I'm sorry for making you worry."

Daryl wiped her tears with his thumb and asked, "What exactly happened? Mom sounded really angry."

Cecilia looked at Daryl and replied, "Mom took me to the hospital for a check-up today."

"What kind of check-up?" Daryl's frown deepened.

"Gynecology. Mom thinks there's something wrong with me because I haven't gotten pregnant in over six months," Cecilia said.

"And the results?" Daryl's eyes narrowed, his expression tense.

Hearing this, Cecilia stared intently at Daryl, as if seeing into his soul.

Daryl felt uneasy under her gaze and stammered, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Daryl, tell me the truth. Did you already know?" Cecilia pressed.

"Know what? What are you talking about? I don't understand," Daryl looked away, avoiding her eyes.

Seeing him still pretending, Cecilia grabbed his suit collar and demanded seriously, "You knew, right? You've been hiding it from me? Why did you keep the truth from me? Do you know how hard I've been trying to get pregnant these past six months? I wanted to have a baby so badly, but it turns out I can't. And you knew all along, right?"

By the end, Cecilia was hysterical, tears streaming down her face again.

Seeing Cecilia's emotional breakdown, Daryl frowned and said, "Cecilia, calm down, please."

"How can I calm down? Do you know what it means for a woman to be unable to have children? I'll never be a mother, and we'll never have a child together!" Cecilia cried, looking at Daryl with despair.

Cecilia's hopeless gaze tore at Daryl's heart, but he didn't know how to comfort her. His brows furrowed tightly.

"The doctor only said your chances of getting pregnant are low, not that it's impossible. With today's advanced medical technology, I'll find the best doctors in the world to treat you. I believe we will have a child," Daryl said earnestly, looking at Cecilia.

Hearing this, Cecilia let go of Daryl's collar, took two steps back, and laughed bitterly.

"Daryl, why are you still lying to me? The doctor said my uterus is damaged, and my chances of getting pregnant are less than five percent. If I do get pregnant, it would be a miracle." Cecilia said in despair.

"Don't be so pessimistic. You've always been resilient and positive. Why is this different?" Daryl stepped forward.

"But you shouldn't have lied to me. You should have told me the truth before we got married, so I could decide whether to marry you or not. Now I'm married to you, but I can't have children. How can I face you and your family?" Cecilia's voice rose with emotion.

Hearing this, Daryl frowned and said, "Cecilia, I didn't lie to you. I hid your condition because I didn't want to upset you. And because our relationship wouldn't change whether you could have children or not. So, you should face me the same way you always have. As for my family, you married me, not them. You don't owe them an explanation."

Hearing this, Cecilia was touched by his attitude but still couldn't accept the reality.

"Daryl, it's easy for you to say. I married you, and that includes your family. Your parents want grandchildren, but I can't give them that. How can I face them? And you, you're still young now, but what about when you're old and have no children? Do you want to grow old alone? I don't want that for you," Cecilia cried, her heart breaking.

"Cecilia," Daryl stepped forward, trying to hold her shoulders.

But Cecilia, overwhelmed with emotion, pushed his hands away.
