Chapter 808 She's Here

Hearing Cecilia's words, Susan paused, thinking for a moment before looking up. "I don't know much about your past with Daryl, but when I saw you two at the hospital, it was clear he cared about you. His pain was real. I think he genuinely loves you."

Cecilia frowned slightly, giving a bitter smile. "But now, all that love has turned into hatred."

Susan could understand why Cecilia made those choices for her family. 'If it were me, I might have done the same,' she thought.

Susan then said, "You should explain everything to Daryl, clear up the misunderstandings, and apologize."

Cecilia shook her head. "It's impossible. He won't believe me anymore."

A deep sorrow filled Cecilia's eyes. "You don't know how we live now. He either doesn't come home, or when he does, he humiliates me, mocks me, ridicules me, and torments me. Once he's satisfied, he leaves. He won't listen to a word I say."

Susan fell silent, thinking, 'Isn't this just like what happened between Seb and me?'

She then said, "Your situation is a lot like ours back then. I think Daryl truly loves you. The deeper the love, the deeper the hate. Otherwise, he wouldn't need to do this. He's suffering too, don't you think?"

Cecilia was stunned for a moment, then sneered. "If this is true love, then it's too heavy."

"Love is a complex journey. Maybe after some time, he'll figure it out, and things will get better," Susan tried to comfort her.

"Let's hope so," Cecilia nodded, walking slowly with her head down.

Trying to lighten the mood, Susan smiled. "But that social club is really nice. I've learned a lot there. How about we go together more often?"

"Of course, that sounds great. I was just feeling bored alone," Cecilia agreed.

Susan smiled. "It's getting late. I need to pick up Hayden and Spring. Let's talk tomorrow."

"Goodbye!" Cecilia waved as Susan turned to leave.

With Cecilia and the social club, Susan no longer felt lonely. She lived a routine life, spending time with Hayden and Spring, chatting with Cecilia, and learning a lot. Susan felt these days were quite good.

In no time, more than a month had passed. Although it wasn't spring yet in Northstar City, the weather was warming up.

That afternoon, Susan and Cecilia went to the social club for a morning class and then headed to a restaurant for lunch.

While waiting for the food, Susan smiled. "I find the piano so difficult. I can never get the rhythm right."

Cecilia, who knew a bit about the piano and could play beautifully, smiled. "It takes practice. You won't see results without a few years of effort."

"Alright, I'll practice hard when I get home," Susan laughed.

Over the years, with the pressures of family, work, and raising two kids, Susan had never had such a chill and meaningful life.

Every day, she spent time with Hayden and Spring happily and learned some skills she liked. It was a rare and precious time, and Susan cherished it.

She loved the piano, feeling that its music was elegant and transcendent. So, she had been working hard to learn it, even though she hadn't mastered it yet.

She imagined that two years later, when she saw Seb again, she would play a piano piece for him. He would surely be amazed, right?

Susan was chatting with Cecilia when her phone suddenly rang.

She took out her phone and saw it was Isabella's number. She smiled and said, "Let me take this call first."

Isabella would call her every few days to update her on the accounting firm's matters, chat, and joke around.

After answering the call, Susan smiled and said, "I'm out having lunch with a friend..."

She meant that if Isabella wanted to chat, they could talk in the evening.

But before Susan could finish her sentence, she heard Isabella crying on the other end. "Susan, I just got off the plane and am in the airport terminal. Can you come pick me up?"

Hearing this, Susan immediately panicked!

After a moment of shock, she anxiously said into the phone, "What did you say? You're in Northstar City?"

This was really surprising. Why did Isabella suddenly come over? And she was crying. Did something happen?

"Yes," Isabella responded.

Susan quickly stood up. "Wait there. I'll come with the driver to pick you up. Don't wander around!"

After hanging up, Susan said to Cecilia, "A friend of mine suddenly came from Maple Valley. I'm sorry, I can't have lunch with you."

"Go quickly. We'll have lunch together next time," Cecilia said with a smile.

Susan smiled apologetically at Cecilia and then turned to leave.

She called the driver to bring the car, and they headed to the airport together.

On the way to the airport, Susan called Isabella twice. Isabella was still crying, and Susan couldn't help but feel anxious.

Susan knew Isabella's temperament too well. Over the years, no matter what difficulties she encountered, she had never lost control of her emotions like this. Susan had a gut feeling it must be related to Leon because Isabella really had no other close relatives in this world. Now, Leon was the closest person to her.

As soon as the car stopped, Susan opened the door and rushed into the terminal.

She wandered around the terminal for a while and finally found Isabella sitting on a bench, wiping her tears.

"Isabella!" Seeing her, Susan rushed over.

"Susan." Isabella looked up and saw Susan, and her tears flowed even more.

Susan sat in front of Isabella, and Isabella immediately hugged her tightly!

Susan frowned and quickly comforted her, "Don't cry. Tell me, what's wrong?"
