Chapter 922 Nothing Good Happens When I Run Into You
These days, he couldn't stop thinking about her.
But the last time they talked, she was so blunt that he felt too embarrassed to face her again.
Leon had been avoiding face-to-face encounters with Isabella lately.
Still, he'd hang around corners or places she frequented, just to catch a glimpse of her from afar. It gave him some peace of mind.
He was conflicted about whether or not he should see her.
Today Seb casually mentioned delivering some porcelain. It wasn't a big deal, but Leon jumped at the chance to do it himself.
He made the decision to see her, but she was still avoiding him.
Leon sat in his car, smoked three cigarettes, then finally started the engine and drove off.
Susan ended up in the hospital because of an ectopic pregnancy, and Isabella went to visit her. She left in such a rush that she didn't see a motorcycle at the intersection and got hit.
Isabella felt dizzy and collapsed, unable to get up.
In that moment, she panicked, thinking she might die.
She had no family around, and the only person who was like family, Susan, was in the hospital. If something happened to her, there'd be no one to even collect her body.
Everything went gray. She tried to keep her eyes open, but her consciousness faded. It seemed like a crowd was gathering, and there was a lot of noise.
In a daze, she saw someone pushing through the crowd. The person looked anxious, then bent down and picked her up.
With the last bit of consciousness, Isabella felt the embrace was familiar and safe. She even caught a familiar scent.
She trusted the person, wrapped her arms around their neck, and then blacked out.
When Isabella woke up, it was already dusk.
She slowly opened her eyes and saw a face filled with surprise.
"You're awake?"
Seeing Leon's face, Isabella felt sore all over. It took her a few seconds to grasp the situation.
She was in a hospital; everything was white, and she was on an IV drip.
"Did I get hit by a car?" Isabella held her head, still feeling dizzy.
Leon sighed in relief and smiled. "Looks like you're not too badly hurt."
Isabella felt uncomfortable hearing that.
Looking at his smiling face, she felt he was mocking her, maybe even gloating.
"Did you hit me?" she angrily questioned.
"I saved you, okay? It was a motorcycle that hit you!" Leon shook his head, thinking she could blame him for anything.
"Would you really save me?" Isabella muttered.
"I'm not that nice, but I saw you get hit, so I followed my conscience and brought you to the hospital. It was nearby, no big deal!" Leon stood up and buttoned his suit.
His words made Isabella furious. She tried to get out of bed, but her leg wouldn't move.
Leon stepped forward to stop her. Seeing her angry expression, he reminded her, "Your calf is fractured. The doctor put a cast on it, so you can't move!"
Isabella looked down and saw that his words were true.
She felt helpless.
Susan was counting on her, and now she couldn't even take care of herself.
"How could my leg be fractured? Leon, you jerk, nothing good ever happens when you're around!" In her frustration, Isabella vented all her anger on Leon.
