Chapter 491 Frustration

Hearing this, Susan felt like she was about to lose it.

But when she glanced up and saw Hayden's clueless, puppy-dog eyes, she just couldn't bring herself to yell at him. She had no idea how to explain it, and for a second, she felt totally mortified.

Susan shot a look at Seb.

Right then, Spring, who was snuggled in Susan's arms, piped up, "Mommy, I wanna play with the balloon too!"

Susan was so frustrated she facepalmed.

Seb couldn't hold it in anymore and burst out laughing, even spraying food all over the table.

Seeing Seb cracking up, Susan gave him a death glare.

Seb laughed and said, "These two kids are gonna be the death of me."

"It's all your fault," Susan pouted.

"How's it my fault?" Seb asked, looking confused.

"If you hadn't bought that thing, the kids wouldn't be acting like this. Now, how am I supposed to answer their questions?" Susan snapped, her face flushed with anger.

"Well... you can't pin this on me," Seb said, looking all hurt.

"Alright, enough! Zip it, everyone! Just eat!" Susan finally snapped.

After that, the only sound at the table was the munching of food.

The night dragged on.

In the quiet, dark bedroom, Susan lay on her side, her back to Seb.

Seb had already tried a few times to wrap his arm around her waist.

This time, Susan still shoved his hand away.

"You're so petty. Still mad?" Seb whispered in her ear.

"Yes!" Susan snapped.

"You can't blame me for the kids' mess," Seb said, exasperated.

"Today's fiasco is on you. Who told you to buy that useless thing without asking?" Susan was still fuming.

"What would we use if I didn't buy it?" Seb muttered.

"Nothing!" Susan said firmly.

Hearing this, Seb immediately laughed and grabbed her shoulder, saying, "You said it, we'll use nothing."

With that, he pressed himself onto her.

Seeing him come closer, Susan frowned and said, "What are you doing?"

"Didn't you say we don't need to take any measures tonight?" Seb asked shamelessly.

Susan pushed him off her angrily and said, "I meant a truce; don't you get it?"

"I don't get it," Seb quickly shook his head.

Susan then raised her chin and explained, "It means you can't touch me, got it?"

After saying that, Susan turned her back to him again.

"Why? Isn't this punishment a bit too much?" Seb frowned, staring at her back.

Susan pouted and said, "Yep, I'm punishing you by not letting you touch me for a week!"

"What? A week? That's brutal," Seb said.

"I haven't even said a month yet," Susan added.

After a moment of silence, Susan didn't hear anything from behind her. Just as she was wondering, she suddenly heard his voice in her ear.

"Fine, I won't touch you. I'll just work on my self-control," Seb said, then lay down to sleep.

Hearing this, Susan smiled and closed her eyes.

The next morning, Susan rolled into the office looking all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

"Well, someone's in a good mood for the wedding!" Isabella teased when she spotted Susan.

Susan chuckled and shot back, "You better start saving up for that wedding gift."

Isabella pouted and said, "I'm the bridesmaid. You should tell your man to get me a killer gift, or I might just slack off!"

Susan could only laugh, "You're a real piece of work."

Then she added, "Hey, come shoe shopping with me after work."

"Why not drag Seb along? He can foot the bill," Isabella suggested.

"He's got some business dinner tonight, and honestly, his taste is questionable," Susan laughed.

"Alright, but you owe me dinner," Isabella said.

"Deal," Susan nodded.

After work, as everyone was heading out, Susan walked over to Isabella's desk and urged, "Come on, let's go."

"Just let me lock up these files," Isabella said, stuffing documents into a file box.

Susan's eagle eyes spotted a shopping bag in the box and asked, "You still haven't given those pants away?"

Last time, Isabella had spilled coffee on Leon's pants and bought a new pair to replace them. But days had passed, and she still hadn't handed them over.

Isabella hesitated and said, "I decided not to."

Susan was surprised, "You've bought them, why?"

Isabella locked the file box, turned around, and pulled Susan out.

"I'm talking to you," Susan noticed Isabella's awkward vibe.

Seeing she couldn't dodge it, Isabella awkwardly said, "Giving a guy pants out of nowhere might make him overthink, so I decided against it."

Susan thought, 'Even though it's clear Isabella likes Leon, Leon's not into her. Giving him the pants wouldn't change anything.'

So, Susan laughed and said, "If you're not giving them, why not return them? They're pricey. You could get yourself something nice."

"The return window's long gone. I'll just keep them for my future boyfriend," Isabella said with a self-deprecating smile.

Susan couldn't help but ask, "When are you getting a boyfriend?"

"Hey, there's a deadline for everything. It shouldn't be too far off," Isabella laughed.

Susan shook her head, smiling.

The two soon arrived at the mall. Isabella pointed to a fancy store nearby and said, "You can't cheap out on wedding shoes. That store's got some high-end stuff. Wanna check it out?"

"Sure," Susan nodded.

A few minutes later, Susan and Isabella walked into the swanky, stylishly decorated luxury store.

"Hello, ladies. How can I assist you today?" A woman in a sleek black uniform with a name tag that read "Manager" greeted them warmly at the door.

Susan thought for a moment and said, "I need a pair of shoes to go with my wedding dress. Preferably silver, high heels, and a bit flashy."

The manager nodded and said, "We just got in two styles that match your description. I'll have someone bring them out for you to try on."
