Chapter 542 New Year
Seeing Carol storming off in anger, Andrew quickly stepped forward to stop her. "Mom, calm down!"
"How can I calm down?" Carol was furious.
Andrew hurriedly helped Carol sit down on a chair and said, "Mom, if we rush over there like this, they'll just turn the tables on us, and it will alert them, making it harder to catch them red-handed later on!"
Hearing this, Carol squinted at Andrew, thought for a moment, and nodded. "I was too hasty. You're right. So, what should we do next?"
Andrew thought for a moment, then whispered a few words into Carol's ear.
After listening, Carol nodded. "Let's do it that way!"
"Okay." Andrew nodded.
New Year's Day arrived, the villa adorned with twinkling lights and festive decorations, courtesy of Susan.
This afternoon, Seb and Susan were taking Hayden and Spring to have lunch with Carol, and in the evening, they would come back to celebrate New Year's with Todd.
This was the only solution because Todd and Carol were at odds and had to celebrate separately.
Susan was wearing a bright red cashmere sweater today, with a plaid long skirt and a black coat, looking both dignified and festive.
"Mommy, will this coat look good on me?" Hayden ran over with a black coat, asking Susan, who was dressing Spring.
Looking at the coat in Hayden's hand, Susan smiled and said, "Yes, Hayden, you'll look very handsome in that!"
At this moment, Seb came downstairs while putting on his jacket and urged, "It's already 10:30. Mom has been urging us. Let's go!"
"Alright, we can leave now." Susan put a hat on Spring and handed her to Mary.
At this moment, Susan noticed that Todd's room door was open, but the room was empty. She couldn't help but ask, "Where's Dad?"
Kathy quickly replied, "Mrs. Susan Anderson, Mr. Todd Anderson just went out. He said he had a lunch appointment with a friend."
Susan frowned and said, "On New Year's Day? Why?"
"Maybe Mr. Todd Anderson didn't want us to worry about him being alone at home, so he went out to meet a friend," Kathy speculated.
Hearing this, Susan nodded.
Actually, Todd was indeed different from Carol. He never troubled others with things he could handle himself. Honestly, she couldn't understand how Todd and Carol ended up together. It was probably a successful blind date.
Then, Seb and Susan's group got into the car and headed to the hotel.
On the way, Hayden, sitting in the back, suddenly asked, "Daddy, why isn't Uncle Leon here today?"
Seb smiled and said, "Leon is on vacation."
At this moment, Susan, sitting in the front passenger seat, turned back and said to Hayden, "It's New Year's, Uncle Leon has to go home to celebrate too."
"Oh, then why aren't we celebrating at home and going out instead?" Hayden asked.
"Because..." Susan couldn't answer this time.
"Because we're taking you to the hotel for some delicious food, and we'll be back home for dinner tonight," Seb answered.
"Oh." Hayden nodded, then suddenly said, "Daddy, I don't want to have lunch with Grandma. She's always so serious. She criticizes Mommy when she sees her, and she doesn't like me and Spring. Her face is always so gloomy, like a wet rag!"
Hearing this, Susan's eyes widened. She couldn't understand where Hayden had heard this.
At this moment, Seb was the first to scold, "Hayden, who did you learn this from?"
Susan glanced at Seb and saw his brows furrowed. This time, it definitely wasn't from her.
Hayden innocently said, "One day at preschool, I couldn't sleep at noon, and I heard a teacher say it to another teacher."
Kathy quickly pulled Hayden's arm and warned, "Hayden, you mustn't say this in front of your grandma, understand?"
"Of course, I don't want Mommy to get scolded again." Hayden nodded.
Hearing Hayden's words, Seb shook his head and muttered to himself, "And they call it a prestigious preschool? What kind of management is this? Looks like I need to find a new preschool for Hayden."
Knowing that Seb was troubled recently, Susan quickly reached out and patted his hand, comforting him, "It's New Year's today. Cheer up and don't be so cold, or you'll make everyone unhappy."
These words made Seb smile.
Seeing the smile on his face, Susan finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Around eleven o'clock, Seb parked the car at the entrance of a hotel. As soon as they got out, a valet drove Seb's car away.
A black nine-seater van pulled up in front of Seb and Susan.
The driver got out, opened the door, and respectfully said to Seb and Susan, "Please get in."
Hearing this, Seb and Susan exchanged a glance, then looked inside suspiciously. They saw Rylee and Andrew inside, and Carol waved at them. "Come on in!"
Then, Seb, Susan, Mary, Kathy, Hayden, and Spring all got into the van.
The door closed, the driver got in, and the van drove out of the hotel's parking lot, heading in another direction.
Susan sat next to Carol, feeling that the atmosphere in the car was a bit strange. Weren't they supposed to have lunch at the hotel? Where were they going?
At this moment, Seb asked, "Mom, aren't we having lunch at the hotel? Where are we going?"
Carol sneered and said, "Seb, we'll eat later. First, I'm taking you somewhere."
"Mom, where are we going?" Seb asked, confused.
"Why are you in such a hurry? You'll know when we get there," Carol said, then ignored Seb, keeping her eyes fixed ahead.
