Chapter 1356 How Is My Wife

The next moment, Isabella snatched her youngest son from the nanny's arms and said coldly, "Leon, I'm their mother. You can't treat me like this!"

"How dare you call yourself a mother? You left two little kids behind. Is that what a good mom does?" Leon shot back, his voice full of anger.

Isabella fired back, "I'm the one who's always home with them. You dumped us at Susan's for two weeks and never even checked in. Are you a responsible dad? Don't be so hypocritical."

"I'm out there busting my ass to give you and the kids a good life. How am I not doing my job as a father?" Leon countered.

"Do you think just making money is enough?" Isabella argued.

"Right now, the kids don't need you!" Leon stepped forward to take the youngest son from Isabella.

Isabella held onto her son tightly, her anger flaring. "I'm their mother. No matter what, the kids always need their mom!"

"You don't deserve to be a mother!" Leon snapped, grabbing the youngest son, who started crying loudly in fear.

Isabella clung to her son, refusing to let go. "Leon, you're hurting him! Let go!"

"You let go!" Leon was equally stubborn, not backing down.

Being a woman, Isabella couldn't match Leon's strength and, fearing her son would get hurt, so she finally let go.

Leon held the crying boy, trying to soothe him. "It's okay, baby. Don't cry. Daddy's here."

The boy cried even harder, his face flushed. Leon, now the picture of a caring father, gently comforted him, a stark contrast to his earlier fierce argument with Isabella.

Seeing her son cry so hard, Isabella was frantic. She rushed over, trying to calm him down. "It's okay, sweetie. Mommy's here."

At that moment, Leon and Isabella exchanged a glance and stopped arguing, working together to comfort their son.

With their combined efforts, the boy eventually stopped crying. But he seemed listless, his head resting on Leon's shoulder, his eyes vacant, and his face flushed.

Isabella frowned. "Something's not right with him."

Leon looked down at his son, noticing the same thing. Isabella reached out to feel his forehead and immediately frowned. "He's burning up!"

"How is that possible? He was fine just a moment ago," Leon said, touching his son's head.

Feeling the heat, Leon said, "He's really got a fever."

"Let's get to the hospital!" Isabella urged.

Leon quickly said, "Grab his coat."

"Okay." Isabella hurriedly found the boy's coat, and they dressed him together before rushing to the hospital.

At the hospital, Leon and Isabella worked together, one holding the child, the other handling the paperwork. They quickly got him admitted.

When the nurse came to give him an IV, the boy started crying again, terrified of the needle.

Isabella's heart ached as she tried to comfort him, but nothing worked. In the end, she and Leon had to hold him down for the nurse to insert the IV.

The boy cried his heart out, and Isabella and Leon took turns soothing him until he finally calmed down.

After all the commotion, they exchanged a look, both regretting their earlier harsh words.

They realized they were a team, and their children needed both of them to grow up happy and healthy. Arguing only caused them pain.

Eventually, the boy fell asleep in Isabella's arms.

Isabella gently stroked his head, sounding a bit accusatory. "How did you take care of him? I was only gone for three days, and he got a high fever. Did you not cover him properly at night?"

Leon didn't get angry. Instead, he frowned and admitted, "I had both kids with me. I could only keep an eye on one at a time. When I woke up, the older one was covered, but the little one had kicked off his blanket."

Hearing this, Isabella felt a pang of guilt. "If I had been here, he wouldn't have gotten sick."

"So it's your fault, really. How can a man like me be expected to take care of two kids so meticulously? Look, now he's got a fever. You need to take responsibility!" Leon said, using a mock accusatory tone, but his eyes were gentle.

"Men and women are both human. Who says only women can take care of kids?" Isabella retorted, but her tone was much softer.

Their attitudes had softened, but they were still a bit distant, neither willing to be the first to apologize.

The boy stayed in the hospital for three days and two nights. Once his fever broke and he no longer needed the IV, Leon's assistant handled the discharge paperwork.

Isabella held the boy while Leon carried their things as they left the room.

Just as they reached the door, Isabella felt dizzy. Afraid of dropping her son, she quickly handed him to Leon. Leon caught the boy, but the next moment, Isabella's eyes rolled back, and she collapsed.

"Isabella!" Leon shouted, dropping everything to catch her.

The assistant rushed over to take the boy, while Leon scooped Isabella up and hurried to the nurse's station. "Nurse! Nurse!"

A nurse rushed over. "What happened?"

"My wife fainted!" Leon shouted.

Two nurses quickly came to help. "Call the doctor!"

Isabella was taken to the emergency room, and Leon paced the hallway anxiously.

Half an hour later, the door opened, and a doctor in a white coat stepped out.

"Doctor, how is my wife?" Leon asked urgently, rushing over.
