Chapter 1278 You Are Making Me Commit a Crime
Seeing Skylar's furious expression, Cecilia stayed calm and spoke sincerely, "Skylar, we used to be friends. I know we can't be friends anymore, but I never wanted to hurt you. Daryl and I are married now, and that's not going to change. I hope you can manage your emotions. It's okay if you resent me, but it's affecting your own mood, isn't it?"
Cecilia's words only made Skylar angrier. She raised her chin and sneered, "Cecilia, stop pretending to be nice. I thought you were my friend, but you stole my love. Now you think you're in the right? You won't have a good ending. When you fall from grace, make sure you can handle it!"
Skylar deliberately dragged out her last sentence.
Cecilia knew that no matter what she said, Skylar wouldn't listen. So she simply said, "Alright, since we have different goals, let's not waste time. On behalf of my mother-in-law, I'm seeing you off. Please, take care."
Seeing that her attempts to provoke Cecilia were futile, Skylar snorted and turned to leave the Fields' residence.
After Skylar left, Cecilia let out a sigh of relief and returned to the living room.
Azalea, who was sitting on the couch, tasted a small piece of durian and frowned, "It's definitely not as good as it used to be. Throw it away."
"Yes, Mom," Cecilia replied, carrying the fruit plate into the kitchen.
Durian wasn't cheap. Cecilia glanced at the trash can, thinking it was too wasteful. She tried a piece herself and found it wasn't that bad. So she handed it to a nearby maid, saying, "You can have it."
"Sure," the maid smiled and took the plate.
When Cecilia returned to the living room, Azalea pointed to a single armchair and said, "Sit down. I have something to ask you."
Cecilia sat in the chair Azalea indicated, waiting for her question.
Azalea hesitated for a moment before asking, "Is your menstrual cycle regular?"
Cecilia was taken aback by the personal question. Why would Azalea suddenly ask something like that?
But Azalea was a woman too, and there was no one else around. So Cecilia answered, "It's mostly regular."
"Did you get it this month?" Azalea nodded and asked again.
"It ended a week ago," Cecilia replied.
Hearing this, Azalea counted on her fingers for a while before saying, "The timing is perfect. You and Daryl need to make the most of it tonight!"
Cecilia was stunned.
When she understood Azalea's meaning, her face turned red!
Azalea had always complained that she was too clingy with Daryl. Why was she now urging them? Could it be that Azalea...
Azalea then enthusiastically said, "You and Daryl have been together for a while, right? You must have been intimate before marriage too. Why is there still no news? Your father and I are waiting to become grandparents, so you need to work hard. Once you're pregnant, Daryl can take a break, and we won't be so lonely."
Azalea went on and on, but the main point was that Cecilia needed to get pregnant immediately and have a boy.
Cecilia felt immense pressure from Azalea's words!
She wanted to get pregnant too, to have a child with Daryl, especially since they had lost one before. But Azalea's demands were overwhelming, treating pregnancy as a top priority and insisting on a grandson. Cecilia didn't know what to say.
That night, Cecilia came out of the bathroom wearing a sexy black lace nightgown.
Daryl was leaning against the headboard in a bathrobe, flipping through a magazine.
When he looked up and saw Cecilia's skin peeking through the lace, his eyes darkened.
Meeting his gaze, Cecilia knew exactly what he was thinking.
They only needed a glance to understand each other's intentions.
Cecilia sat on the edge of the bed, smiling at Daryl.
"Your smile is different tonight," Daryl said, holding Cecilia's hand and studying her, with her long hair flowing and exuding a seductive aura.
"What's different?" Cecilia asked with a smile.
Daryl thought for a moment and said, "You look like you're trying to tempt someone into committing a crime. Isn't that unusual?"
Cecilia playfully slapped Daryl's hand. "So, do you want to commit a crime tonight?"
Daryl flipped over and pinned Cecilia to the soft bed, whispering in her ear, "Do you even need to ask?"
Cecilia laughed and wrapped her arms around Daryl's neck.
Daryl leaned down to kiss her lips, but Cecilia turned her head away. "Wait, I have something to ask you first."
Daryl raised an eyebrow and grinned, "Can't you ask after the crime?"
"No!" Cecilia insisted.
"Alright, ask away," Daryl said, reluctantly.
Cecilia then asked, "When did Skylar become Mom's goddaughter?"
Daryl hadn't expected this question and frowned, "Why bring her up suddenly?"
He sat up on the bed.
"She came over today," Cecilia said, sitting beside him.
"What did she want?" Daryl's smile faded.
"To visit her godmother, of course," Cecilia replied.
Seeing Cecilia's displeasure, Daryl smiled, "I guess Mom felt guilty about me breaking off the engagement, so she made Skylar her goddaughter."
"If you knew, why didn't you tell me? Do you know how awkward it was for me to see Skylar here today?" Cecilia said, annoyed.
"I thought it was a minor thing. Besides, I didn't want to upset you by mentioning Skylar," Daryl explained, spreading his hands.
Cecilia was furious, raising her voice. "Hey, we're married now. There shouldn't be any secrets between us. Your ex-girlfriend becoming your god-sister is just too bizarre!"
Daryl chuckled.
"Why are you laughing?" Cecilia snapped, seeing him amused. She put her hands on her hips and shouted at him.
