Chapter 846 Unexplained Feelings
"Is this how you teach a kid?" Susan snapped at Seb.
Seb, never one to back down, shot back, "What's wrong with my way? Shouldn't he who betray his country get a little discipline?"
"You can talk things out! Why are you encouraging the kid to fight?" Susan was getting really worked up.
Seb, stubborn as ever, replied, "Sometimes talking doesn't cut it. You gotta fight to make a point!"
"You're gonna mess the kid up," Susan argued.
"Boys need to develop resilience and bravery; they can't afford to grow up weak."
Neither of them was willing to back down, each sticking to their guns.
As their argument heated up, Spring in the video started crying.
"Daddy, Mommy, stop fighting!" Hayden hugged Spring and shouted at them.
Hearing Spring's cries, Susan, holding the phone, immediately stopped and anxiously looked at Spring in Hayden's arms, soothing, "Spring, don't cry!"
"Spring, be good!" Seb also coaxed her, his previously irritable demeanor instantly softening.
Seeing that Seb and Susan had stopped arguing, Spring calmed down and, with tears on her face, said, "Daddy, Mommy, don't fight!"
Hearing this, Susan felt really upset.
The next moment, Seb and Susan exchanged a glance, and then Seb said first, "I won't fight with your mommy anymore, Spring, don't cry."
"Yeah, we won't fight anymore," Susan echoed.
After Spring cheered up, Hayden hugged Spring and smiled. "Spring, Daddy and Mommy were just playfully arguing, they actually love each other very much!"
Hearing this, Seb and Susan exchanged a glance, and then Susan blushed and quickly turned her face away.
At that moment, the air was filled with an intimate atmosphere.
"What does 'playfully arguing' mean?" Spring innocently asked Hayden.
Although the question was a bit tricky, it didn't stump Hayden.
Hayden then answered, "It means Daddy and Mommy aren't really fighting, they're just pretending to argue to spice up their boring life!"
"Then why do Daddy and Mommy pretend to argue?" Spring, half-understanding, kept asking.
Finally, Hayden impatiently said, "Stop asking, you won't get it even if I explain. You'll understand when you get married."
"Then I'll get married now?" Spring blinked her big eyes and said.
"You're too young to get married now, and besides, you can't find anyone to marry you!" Hayden said seriously.
"I think Otis is nice, how about I marry him?" Spring thought for a moment and suddenly said.
"Why would you marry Otis?" Hearing Spring's words, Hayden immediately got anxious. Otis was his arch-enemy.
Spring raised her chin proudly and said, "Because Otis is afraid of you. If he bullies me in the future, you can beat him up again!"
Hearing this, Susan covered her mouth and laughed, thinking Spring's thoughts were really bizarre.
Seb also couldn't help but laugh, but he still kept a straight face and warned Spring, "Spring, you must marry a Luminara in the future, understand? Otis is not a Luminara anymore!"
"Got it." Spring, a bit scared of Seb, mumbled and then lowered her head, staying quiet.
Seeing this, Susan quickly nudged Seb and whispered, "Why are you so harsh? You're scaring Spring!"
"Am I harsh?" Seb questioned Susan.
"Yeah, very harsh!" Susan rolled her eyes at him and continued talking to Hayden and Spring.
After chatting for a few more minutes, Susan reluctantly hung up.
Seb complained from the side, "I didn't even get to say goodbye to Hayden and Spring. Why'd you hang up?"
"Well, why didn't you say so earlier?" Susan glared at him, still annoyed from their earlier argument.
The next moment, neither of them spoke.
Susan realized she had slipped back into their old dynamic, thinking of him as he used to be. But things were different now, and it felt awkward.
Seb also realized this. Earlier, they had both been so in the moment that even he, who had lost his memories of Susan, felt like they were a family, that she was his wife, and the mother of Hayden and Spring.
Seb then awkwardly stood up and walked to his seat, sitting down.
"Let's eat, the food's here!" Susan quickly picked up her knife and fork.
However, Susan missed the earlier argument; that was their daily life back then. Now, although they were sitting face to face, there was a sense of unfamiliarity and distance between them.
"Okay," Seb responded softly and lowered his head to eat.
Seeing that he wasn't picking up any food, Susan put some meat and vegetables on Seb's plate.
"Thanks," Seb seemed lost in thought. Seeing the meat and vegetables on his plate, he looked up and said.
Susan awkwardly smiled and lowered her head to eat, feeling that the atmosphere was no longer as relaxed and comfortable as when they first came in.
Seb watched Susan eating with her head down for a while, then suddenly asked, "Did we often do this before?"
Suddenly hearing his question, Susan looked up in surprise.
"I mean argue," Seb explained.
Susan tucked her hair behind her ear and quickly replied, "We occasionally argued, but it wasn't really arguing, just bickering. Sometimes what Hayden said was quite accurate."
"Playfully arguing?" Seb recalled the phrase, feeling it was very familiar, but couldn't remember who always mentioned it.
"Yeah." Susan nodded, embarrassed.
Seb's eyes fell on the steaming Mexican food. Although he was very angry when arguing with Susan earlier, he suddenly felt that it was not bad.
Although Ellie took care of him meticulously, always obeying his words, and was so gentle and understanding that he couldn't bear to speak harshly to her, Seb had been feeling very repressed and uncomfortable these days, living a very tiring life.
Although Susan sometimes annoyed him and made him angry, she made him feel warmth and life.
