Chapter 1187 You Are the First Girl to Capture My Heart
Cecilia used both her hands and feet, but she couldn't budge Daryl.
In a moment of desperation, she raised her hand and slapped Daryl!
The sharp sound of the slap echoed in the air.
Daryl was taken aback and loosened his grip on her.
Cecilia's hand froze in mid-air. When she saw pain in Daryl's eyes, a wave of inexplicable sadness washed over her.
Daryl said, "Cecilia, I deserve it. If hitting me makes you feel better, then go ahead!"
Then, he grabbed Cecilia's hand and moved it towards his face.
Cecilia, exasperated by Daryl's antics, immediately pulled her hand back and pushed him away, saying irritably, "Daryl, can you stop messing around? We're both adults. Can you stop clinging to me?"
She went crazy because of Daryl. The most important thing was that she felt her heart had been stirred by him.
A few days ago, she had managed to keep her heart calm, but now she felt it was no longer at peace, which was terrifying.
Daryl smiled and said, "I will never let you go in this lifetime."
Cecilia frowned and said, "That's absurd."
After saying that, she turned to leave.
But Daryl stepped forward to block her and said, "Do you think I'll let you leave today?"
"This is a restaurant. What do you want to do?" Meeting Daryl's earnest gaze, Cecilia felt as if she had been burned. She took a step back, her body clearly on alert.
"Don't worry, I won't force you to do anything. I just want to tell you some things from my heart." Seeing her nervousness, Daryl raised his hands in the air, trying to explain to her.
Cecilia knew that if he didn't let her go, she wouldn't be able to leave.
She turned and walked to the chair she had been sitting in earlier, sat down, and warned Daryl, "Don't come near me. If you have something to say, sit in your seat and say it. Otherwise, I'll leave right now!"
"Okay, okay, I'll do whatever you say," Daryl replied, quickly nodding and sitting down across from Cecilia.
Cecilia sat there with a cold expression. She knew Daryl was trying to reconcile with her, but she would never agree.
Daryl gazed at Cecilia and then slowly said, "Cecilia, I don't know where to start. I'll start from when I went against my parents' wishes to pursue a Ph.D. in Northstar City."
Cecilia's eyes were fixed on the cup on the table, and she didn't speak.
Then, Daryl began to recall, "My father runs Fields Corporation and he is very busy every day. According to his plan for my life, I was supposed to return to Fields Corporation to help manage the business after completing my master's degree. But I love civil engineering and designing bridges and buildings, so I didn't listen to my parents and went to Northstar City alone to pursue a Ph.D. During that time, my relationship with my father was very tense. He even cut off my living expenses. Fortunately, I got a full scholarship, and by being careful with my spending, I managed to study abroad without any problems."
Cecilia sneered, "So you're saying you had no choice but to pretend to be a poor student, right?"
Daryl lowered his head and said sincerely, "Although I was born into a wealthy family, my father has always been strict with us brothers. We don't have the bad habits of typical rich kids. We can cook simple meals, do our own laundry, and handle many things on our own. In Northstar City, I didn't hide my identity. It's just that not many people knew me there, and I had lost contact with my family for a while, so no one knew my background. Of course, I never mentioned it to anyone either."
"So you're saying no one had the insight to see through you, right?" Cecilia mocked.
She had always believed that Daryl deliberately hid his identity. She thought he was poor and didn't want to burden him, but he was a rich kid. Thinking back, she felt like a fool.
Despite Cecilia's sarcasm, Daryl didn't get angry. Instead, he said sincerely, "Then I met you. Whether you believe it or not, you were the first girl I ever had feelings for."
"Didn't you have feelings for Skylar when you were a kid? Only a fool would believe what you're saying." Cecilia said coldly.
Daryl lowered his head and smiled, then explained, "Who told you I had feelings for Skylar?"
Cecilia frowned. "Do I even need to ask? You and Skylar grew up together. You were together from a young age, and both your families thought you were a perfect match."
As Cecilia said this, Daryl grabbed her hand.
Cecilia immediately glared at Daryl, who quickly withdrew his hand and apologized, "Sorry, I said I would sit here properly. But I still need to explain. Skylar and I did grow up together, but I only see her as a sister. I never liked her, and we never dated. The only relationship I've ever had was with you in Northstar City."
Cecilia naturally didn't believe Daryl's words.
Although she looked completely skeptical, he continued, "At that time, I was deeply involved in our relationship. Many times, I wanted to tell you about my real background, but I was afraid it would scare you away. So I carefully kept this secret. You might not know, but I've always been surrounded by many girls who obeyed and flattered me. I found them annoying. I wanted someone genuine who could face me honestly, and then I met you."
"At that time, I cherished our relationship and loved you deeply. So I decided to wait until our relationship was deeper before telling you about my family background. Then I would propose to you, and we would live together forever!" Daryl's eyes were fixed on Cecilia, as if he wanted to etch her into his soul.
"But you caught me off guard. You broke up with me, saying you despised my poverty and wanted to pursue a rich man. That was the first time I experienced what it meant to be in unbearable pain."
As he said this, Daryl's brows furrowed tightly.
