Chapter 890 Remarriage
That night, Susan pushed open the door and walked into Isabella's bedroom.
She found Isabella sitting by the bed, looking a bit worried.
"Isabella, I'm thinking of having Kathy stay and help you out," Susan said, knowing Isabella must be feeling a bit anxious. With her, Hayden, and Spring all leaving, Isabella would be especially lonely and vulnerable, especially since she was over six months pregnant.
Isabella quickly responded, "Kathy's used to taking care of Hayden and Spring. You don't have to do this for me."
Susan cut her off, "I've still got Mary with me, and there are plenty of folks in Maple Valley who can help me look after kids. I wouldn't feel right leaving you here alone. Kathy's great at cooking and taking care of things, so I trust her. Or you could come back to Maple Valley with us, which would make it even easier to look after you."
Isabella shook her head, "I don't want to go back to that sad place."
Seeing Isabella's sorrowful expression, Susan smiled, "It's okay if you don't want to go back. Also, Cecilia can come over to keep you company. She's very attentive, and if anything goes wrong, call me immediately, and I'll fly over."
"Okay," Isabella nodded, tears welling up in her eyes.
Seeing Isabella like this broke Susan's heart. Isabella had no family left, and Susan could feel her loneliness and helplessness. But Susan couldn't stay with her now, so she felt really guilty.
Susan smiled and said, "When your due date is near, I'll come to be with you during the delivery."
"Okay," Isabella said, holding Susan's hand tightly.
Early the next morning, Susan, Seb, and the others boarded a plane and left Northstar City.
After a long journey, Susan held Hayden's hand while Seb carried Spring as they exited the airport.
Leon, who had been waiting for a while, appeared in front of Susan and smiled. "Mr. Anderson, Mrs. Anderson!"
Hearing his words, Susan blushed and nodded.
Leon suddenly looked at Susan with a hesitant expression.
Susan was momentarily puzzled but quickly understood.
She smiled and said, "Isabella's doing great! She's over six months pregnant now, her belly is growing. But her checkup showed the baby is right on track."
Leon smiled happily, "That's great."
Susan could tell Leon's happiness and concern for Isabella were both genuine. But she couldn't figure out why he left Isabella and their child.
"Let's get in the car," Seb said, walking over.
"Okay," Susan nodded.
After getting in the car, Susan realized that Seb had let Hayden, Spring, and Mary get into the car driven by Leon, while she got into another car.
Seb opened the door, sat next to Susan, and said to the driver, "Let's go."
With that, the car drove onto the road.
Susan looked back at the car behind them and asked, puzzled, "The car behind us is an RV. Our whole family could fit in it. So why aren't we all in the same vehicle?"
Seb suddenly smiled, took Susan's hand, and said, "We're not going home yet."
"Where are we going if not home?" Susan asked, even more confused.
"To the city hall," Seb replied with a grin.
Hearing his words, Susan furrowed her brows. But then, seeing the joyful smile on his face, she immediately got it.
Susan glanced at her watch and said, "It's almost five o'clock. By the time we get there, it'll be closing time."
Seb just smiled, "Don't worry, I've already arranged for someone to stay late for us."
Susan's eyes widened. He had planned this all along, and she had no idea.
But deep down, she was happy. The fact that he wanted to remarry her as soon as they got back showed how much he cared.
Seeing her puzzled expression, Seb pulled her head onto his shoulder and smiled. "In an hour, you'll be Mrs. Anderson again."
Susan smiled and teased, "Is the title of Mrs. Anderson that attractive?"
"Isn't it? Plenty of people would love to be Mrs. Anderson," Seb said smugly.
"You're so full of yourself," Susan said, pouting but clearly happy.
Seb suddenly whispered in her ear, "Look, we can't keep doing this without getting married. Let's get our marriage license now. Then we can properly celebrate — I mean, with sex."
Susan shyly pushed him away. "Stop it."
Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of the city hall.
After getting out, Seb and Susan walked in side by side.
As soon as they entered the lobby, Susan stopped. "I don't know where I put my driver's license."
Seb frowned. "You didn't bring your driver's license?"
"I put my driver's license away after boarding the plane. After getting off the plane, I gave my passport to Mary," Susan explained.
Seb anxiously put his hand in his pocket, then took out his phone to make a call.
"Who are you calling?" Susan asked, frowning.
"I'm asking Leon to bring your driver's license over immediately. We have to remarry today no matter what," Seb said, looking particularly serious.
Seeing how serious he was, Susan quickly stopped him. "I just remembered, my driver's license is in my bag."
She quickly took it out.
Seb's eyes flashed, and he stared at her. "Did you do that on purpose?"
"I just wanted to tease you," Susan said, hugging his arm apologetically.
"If you don't want to remarry me, just say so. It's not like I can't live without you!" Seb looked up at the ceiling, pretending to be upset.
"I was just joking. Did you take it seriously?" Susan panicked, trying to make amends.
Seb stood there silently, looking dejected.
Seeing this, Susan had no choice but to continue coaxing him, "I was wrong, okay? I'll accept any punishment. How about I cook a big meal for you tonight? Give you a massage?"
When Seb still didn't respond, Susan finally said, "I'll do whatever you say, okay?"
