Chapter 319 Quarrel
Thinking about it, Susan suddenly felt like she’d been played.
So, she cranked up the volume and said, "Your dad's got a ton of dates now, no time to eat with us. Let's not waste his precious time!"
But, of course, a kid like Hayden didn’t get Susan’s sarcasm. He hugged her leg and said, all serious, "Daddy doesn’t have any dates. He comes back every day to have dinner with me."
Hearing that, Susan got a bit ticked off, thinking Seb must’ve coached Hayden to say that.
She then put Spring’s hand in Hayden’s and said, "Hayden, be a good boy and take Spring upstairs to find Isabella. She got you some yummy chocolate."
"Okay!" Hayden, being just a kid with no clue, clapped his hands in excitement and obediently took Spring upstairs.
Once Hayden and Spring were out of sight, Susan walked over to the Bentley and knocked on the rear window.
Seeing the annoyed look on Susan’s face, Leon sensed trouble. He quickly made up an excuse, "Ms. Wilson, I gotta hit the restroom."
Before Susan could react, Leon had already bolted towards the public restroom.
Just as Susan was fuming at the car window, the door finally opened, and Seb stepped out from the back seat.
Seeing Seb again, Susan felt her blood boil and went straight to the point, "Have you been hiding in the car every time Leon drops off Hayden and Spring?"
Susan thought Seb hadn't shown up for a long time since the charity gala. Little did she know, he’d been lurking every time, and she was too clueless to notice.
She figured Seb had finally wised up or was scared of getting rejected again, so he kept his distance. She had no idea he’d been spying on her from the car window all along.
Facing Susan’s grilling, Seb calmly said, "I wouldn’t call it 'hiding.' I always sit in the back seat. I don’t get out, but I’m not exactly hiding either."
Hearing that, Susan was fuming!
Even though she was mad, Seb had a point, and she was momentarily speechless.
Seeing Susan’s frustrated look, Seb felt a bit sorry and explained, "I didn’t show up because I thought you’d be upset seeing me. I didn’t mean anything else."
Hearing this, Susan turned away, feeling a bit foolish. Seb was right; his absence these past few months was just her assumption.
Then, Susan took a deep breath and thought, 'Whether he shows up or not, it’s his call. If he wants to spy on me, I can’t stop him. I’ve got nothing to hide.'
The next moment, Susan directly asked, "Alright, let me ask you something else."
"Is this about the Capgemini Software budget proposal?" Seb cut straight to the chase.
Susan shot him a glare. "So, you really meddled?"
"Whether I meddled or not doesn’t matter. As long as it benefits you, that’s enough," Seb said, all casual.
But his attitude stung Susan.
"Seb, this is my business. Stay out of it, okay? Did you get my permission? You always act like you know best. Did you ask me? You just made the decision for me," Susan snapped.
"I did it for your own good. Do I need to ask when I’m helping you out?" Seb said, feeling a bit hurt.
These past few days, he’d been neck-deep in Susan’s affairs, even pulling strings to get Dominic to replace Sophia with Ethan as the project lead, and he had to please Linda
In the past, if Linda clung to him, he’d brush her off. That dinner with Linda was a nightmare. Now, Susan not only didn’t appreciate it but also accused him of overstepping. He felt lost.
"You have no right to do that!" Susan fumed.
Seb loosened his tie, irritation creeping in. "You’re right, I have no right. I’m nothing to you now, isn’t that what you always say?"
Feeling defeated, Susan then asked, "By the way, was it you who had Elliott beaten up?"
Susan had been mulling over Elliott’s beating for a while. She couldn’t think of anyone else who’d do such a thing or who could beat Elliott so badly.
"Didn’t that Elliott deserve it? He had it coming, and I was doing everyone a favor!" Seb was still fuming, especially with the image of Elliott harassing Susan flashing in his mind.
"Do you know it’s illegal to beat someone up?" Susan shouted at Seb.
Actually, Susan was worried that if this got out, it could mess with Seb’s image, and beating Elliott so badly could have legal consequences.
But Susan would never admit she was worried about Seb. She just felt that everything Seb did always blindsided her.
In fact, she was pretty pleased with Elliott getting his comeuppance, even felt great about it. But she was annoyed that Seb interfered in her affairs. She hated Seb’s high-handedness, though she couldn’t deny that Seb was right in beating Elliott this time.
"Isn’t it illegal for Elliott to harass you? Lots of things are illegal, but does the law always do something about it?" Seb shot back.
"I don’t care if he harasses me, what does it have to do with you?" Susan found herself at a loss for words and resorted to shouting irrationally at Seb.
Seb pointed at Susan, veins popping on his forehead, fists clenched, but facing Susan, he really didn’t know how to handle her.
