Chapter 669 Anxious
Hearing Hayden's words, Susan felt a pang in her heart and suddenly wanted to cry, so she pulled Hayden into her embrace.
But Susan knew she couldn't cry in front of the children; it would only make them more confused and lost.
So, the next moment, Susan smiled and said, "Daddy and I both love you. Why would we not want you? Hayden, remember, even if Daddy and I get divorced, you and Spring are still the most beloved people to us. You're growing up to be such a strong young man. If Mommy's not around, you'll take care of Spring, won't you?"
"Okay." Hayden showed remarkable strength at that moment, his big round eyes looking at Susan.
Susan patted Hayden's head and forced a smile, saying, "Hayden, next time I check your homework, I expect great things, okay?"
"Alright." Only then did a smile appear on Hayden's little face.
Although she was reluctant, Susan left the villa at five o'clock, feeling heavy-hearted.
In the days that followed, Susan endured the pain, but her longing for the children surged like a tide, tormenting her daily. However, she didn't want to let Seb trample on her dignity anymore.
So, she threw herself into her work every day, and when she got home, she would kneel on the floor and scrub it until she was exhausted, only then could she sleep well.
After half a month, the floor in Susan's home was so clean that it shone like a mirror.
Susan couldn't bear it anymore and went near Seb's villa.
Hayden and Spring had to go out sometimes, right? Although they were always picked up and dropped off by car, with bodyguards following, Susan could still stand at a distance and catch a glimpse.
She watched from a distance as Mary strapped Spring into the car, her heart aching for a closer look. She lingered near the school gates, catching sight of Hayden's small figure disappearing inside, Kathy and the guards a wall between them.
It wasn't enough, not nearly enough, but it was something. It kept the hope flickering, the knowledge that her children were safe, that they were well.
During lunch break that day, Isabella walked into Susan's office with two cups of coffee.
"Freshly brewed coffee." Isabella placed a cup in front of Susan.
Susan picked up the coffee and smiled. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." Isabella, looking quite pleased, sat down opposite Susan's desk with her coffee.
Susan glanced at Isabella and smiled, saying, "A woman in love truly looks different. I've noticed your skin has been looking great lately."
Hearing this, Isabella touched her face and said, "Really?"
"Yes, you're glowing." Susan elongated her words.
At this moment, Isabella suddenly rested her chin on her hand and stared at Susan.
Noticing Isabella's strange look, Susan asked, "Why are you looking at me like that? As if I've done something wrong."
Isabella, however, winked and asked, "Hey, I want to interview you about those sexy lingerie sets you bought. How did they work out?"
Hearing this, Susan couldn't help but sit up straight, her mind involuntarily recalling the scene in Seb's office that day.
"Why is your face blushing? Come on, tell me the truth. What's going on between you and Seb?" Isabella asked with concern.
"Nothing." Susan's face suddenly darkened.
"Really? You dressed like that, and he didn't fall for it? That's strange." Isabella said, puzzled.
Susan rolled her eyes at Isabella. "Stop talking nonsense, okay? I threw those things in the trash a long time ago."
"What? Threw them away? Even if you bought them on Amazon, those sets must have cost dozens of dollars! That's such a waste." Isabella said, wide-eyed.
Hearing this, Susan smiled at Isabella and said, "Yeah, how could I forget? I shouldn't have thrown them away; I should have given them to you."
Hearing this, Isabella immediately shrank back. "Why give them to me? I don't need those."
Seeing Isabella's face blush, Susan took the opportunity to tease her, "Come on, Isabella, you and Leon are both healthy adults. Don't tell me you two are just holding hands and exchanging chaste kisses. I don't believe it for a second."
Hearing this, Isabella immediately stood up, her face looking unnatural. "Get away. I'm not talking to you anymore. I'm leaving!"
With that, Isabella turned and walked out.
Watching Isabella's back, Susan smiled and shook her head.
That afternoon, Susan left work early.
She wanted to get to the preschool gate before Hayden finished school. She hadn't seen Hayden from afar for several days and missed him terribly.
After waiting at the gate for ten minutes, the preschool finally let out.
However, Susan didn't see Kathy come to pick up Hayden, nor did she see the bodyguards. Until almost all the children had left, there was still no sign of Hayden.
Susan frowned, feeling even more anxious. Could Hayden be sick and absent?
After hesitating for over ten minutes, until all the children had left, Susan quickly called Hayden's teacher.
"Hello, I'm calling to ask about Hayden. He wasn't in school today. Is he unwell?" Susan asked urgently.
The teacher knew a bit about Susan and Seb's divorce because Susan had previously begged to see Hayden at the preschool, but Seb had sent someone to tell the principal not to let anyone visit Hayden.
"Hayden's father has already transferred him to another school. I wanted to call and tell you, but I've been too busy lately." Hayden's teacher said over the phone.
"What? Transferred?" Susan was particularly surprised by this news.
She didn't understand why Seb suddenly wanted to transfer Hayden. She felt a sudden panic, 'Could Seb be trying to prevent me from seeing Hayden?'
"He was transferred several days ago," Hayden's teacher said.
Susan then urgently asked, "Do you know which school Hayden was transferred to?"
"I don't know that either," Hayden's teacher replied.
Hearing this, Susan felt lost and said, "Thank you."
Susan left the preschool in a daze and naturally didn't sleep well that night.
The next morning, Susan called Kathy.
"Kathy, did Hayden transfer schools? Which preschool did he transfer to? Why did he suddenly transfer?" As soon as the call was answered, Susan asked a series of questions.
