Chapter 73 Cynthia's Visit

"The nights in the mountains are freezing. How can you sleep in the car? And what about Mr. Johnson?" Kathy frowned.

"It's the weekend. I gave Leon the day off," Seb replied.

"You drove up here alone?" Kathy asked, surprised.

"Get some rest. I'll head back to Maple Valley first thing in the morning," Seb said, walking out of the villa.

Kathy muttered to herself, "Mr. Anderson is always so harsh to Mrs. Anderson, but deep down he still cares." With that, she went back to her room to sleep.

Just then, Susan's hand slipped, and the cup almost fell.

Why did Seb come so late? Was it just to check on Kathy? He could've called. Why drive all this way?

And why sleep in the car instead of the warm villa? Susan remembered she once said she couldn't sleep if Seb stayed here. Did he take her words to heart?

What did Kathy mean by her words? Was Seb caring about her? But what about Cynthia? Wasn't he in love with Cynthia? Why was he putting so much effort into her?

Susan's mind was a mess, filled with mixed emotions. She stood there for a long time until she felt cold and finally remembered to go back to her bedroom. She had completely forgotten about drinking water.

Tossing and turning half the night, Susan finally concluded that Seb must be concerned about the baby in her belly. After all, it was his first child, and he surely wanted it to be born safely. So, Susan's heart sank again.

Early the next morning, Susan overheard Kathy making breakfast and taking it out of the villa. She knew it must be for Seb.

When Kathy returned with the empty lunchbox, Susan knew Seb had already left, so she went downstairs to eat.

"Mrs. Anderson, you're up early today?" Kathy asked, surprised to see Susan come down earlier than usual.

"Oh, I kept getting up to use the bathroom last night, so I couldn't sleep," Susan said flatly.

"That's normal at this stage. In just over half a month, you'll give birth. You must be very careful. Mr. Anderson said yesterday that he would take you to the hospital in Maple Valley two weeks early to prepare for the delivery!" Kathy said with a smile.

"You saw him?" Susan asked calmly.

"How could I see Mr. Anderson? He's in Maple Valley. He called yesterday to ask about you," Kathy stammered, quickly covering up.

Susan's lips twitched, but she didn't expose Kathy's lie.

At that moment, the intercom at the front door suddenly rang.

The intercom was connected to the security at the gate. If anything happened outside, they would use it to inform those inside.

Kathy answered the intercom, and the security guard's voice came through. "Kathy, there's a Miss Phillips here who says Mr. Anderson asked her to visit Mrs. Anderson."

Hearing this, Susan was taken aback.

Seb had just left, and now Cynthia was here. Did Seb send her? It didn't seem like it. But if Seb hadn't told Cynthia she was staying here, how could Cynthia have found this place?

"Mrs. Anderson, do you want to see her?" Kathy, who had been with the Anderson family for a long time, naturally knew Cynthia well. Having taken care of Susan for so long, Kathy understood the situation even though no one had explicitly told her.

"If Seb sent her, do I have a choice?" Susan shot back at Kathy.

Kathy nodded and went to open the door.

Susan was curious about what Cynthia wanted. Over these months, Cynthia and Seb must have been together, right? Cynthia was probably feeling quite upset too. It had been several months, and she still hadn't seen Seb file for divorce.

A moment later, Kathy brought Cynthia into the villa.

Susan sat on the sofa, coldly watching Cynthia smile at her before sitting on the sofa opposite her.

Cynthia glanced at the bags Kathy was holding and smiled. "I bought some clothes for the baby. I didn't know if it was a boy or a girl, so I chose colors that both could wear."

Susan felt uncomfortable seeing Cynthia show no signs of awkwardness and speak as if she had a close relationship with the baby.

So, the next moment, Susan said to Kathy, "Kathy, why haven't you served our guest some drinks?"

"Right, my oversight," Kathy quickly put down the bags and went to make coffee.

Susan's message was clear: this was Seb's villa, and she, Susan, was the mistress of the house. Cynthia was just a guest, no matter what. Cynthia had nothing to do with her or her baby in the belly.

Cynthia understood Susan's message. She looked around the villa and suddenly smiled. "This villa is nothing compared to the one Seb has in the suburbs. We used to spend several vacations there."

Cynthia's words were clearly provocative. Susan, not wanting to engage, looked at the baby clothes on the table and coldly said, "I've already prepared everything for the baby. Thank you for your kindness, but you should take them back."

Hearing this, Cynthia hesitated, then suddenly smiled. "Is that so? If I had known, I wouldn't have gone through the trouble of bringing them here. Anyway, I can use these clothes when I take care of the baby in the future."

Cynthia's words made Susan frown. "What do you mean? My baby doesn't need your care."

"Don't you know? Hasn't Seb told you?" Cynthia asked, feigning surprise.

"What exactly are you trying to say?" Susan asked impatiently.

She knew Cynthia's visit wasn't friendly, but she didn't know what Cynthia was planning. Humiliating her didn't seem to be Cynthia's main goal, as it wouldn't achieve much.

The next moment, Cynthia said, "Since Seb hasn't told you, I'll tell you. After you give birth, Seb will divorce you. When Seb and I get married, I'll naturally be the baby's mother. Isn't it only right for me to take care of the baby?"

Hearing this, Susan stood up in a panic, pointing at Cynthia and shouting, "You won't take my baby away!"

"That's Seb's decision. Whether you like it or not, you have to accept it," Cynthia said, using Seb to pressure her.

Susan couldn't stay calm any longer. Furious, she said, "Don't use Seb to pressure me. Even if I divorce him, I won't give him the baby."

Cynthia also stood up, sneering. "Susan, are you really that naive? Do you think a family like the Andersons would let their bloodline be taken away? With Seb's power, he won't let you take the baby. Stop dreaming! If you're smart, you'll beg me now. Maybe I'll pity you and let you see the baby occasionally. But if you keep shouting at me like this, you'll never see the baby again!"
