Chapter 1286 No Matter What Happens in the Future, You Are My Wife
"I don't care if she can't have kids, I'm never divorcing her!" Daryl declared firmly.
"You... you're such an idiot!" Azalea pointed at Daryl, her face pale with anger, struggling to find the right words.
Elijah quickly stepped forward, sitting on the couch and gently patting Azalea's back. "Mom, please calm down. Talk to Daryl. Don't get upset, you have a heart condition."
Elijah's words brought tears to Azalea's eyes, and she began to cry. "What did I do to deserve this? Why is my son defying me like this?"
Daryl suddenly stepped forward, dropped to one knee in front of his mother, and clasped her right hand tightly to his forehead—a gesture of deep familial reverence.
"What are you doing?" Azalea was taken aback, staring at her son in surprise.
"Bro," Elijah was equally shocked.
Daryl looked seriously into his mother's eyes. "Mom, without Cecilia, I'm just an empty shell. I'm begging you, please let us live our lives in peace together."
Hearing this, Azalea felt even more sorrowful. After staring at her son for a long time, she finally said, "Yes, you can live without your father, without me, without the Fields Corporation, but you can't live without that woman. You're truly the son I raised!"
"Mom, please don't make things difficult for Cecilia anymore. If you can't sincerely accept her, then I'll consider moving out with her!" Daryl, though kneeling, maintained a firm stance.
Azalea furrowed her brows deeply. "What did you say? You want to move out? You don't want your father and me anymore? You don't want to be part of the Fields family? You don't care about the Fields Group? Right, you haven't cared about the Fields Group for a long time. You don't care about us, this family, or these businesses."
"Mom, I care about you and Dad, I care about Elijah, I care about our family and the Fields Corporation. But can't these things coexist with Cecilia? Why do I have to choose?" Daryl's brows furrowed, and the veins on his forehead bulged.
"I'm not asking you to choose. Your father and I have already agreed to let Cecilia marry into the family, and she has. But now she can't have children. You're the eldest son of the Fields family. How can the Fields family have no heir? Who will inherit all this in the future?" Sensing Daryl's resolute attitude, Azalea's tone softened.
Because the Fields family couldn't do without Daryl, and the Fields Corporation needed him even more.
"Isn't there still Elijah? Let him take on that responsibility!" Daryl turned his gaze to Elijah.
"Me?" Elijah's eyes widened in surprise.
Daryl quickly gave Elijah a meaningful look.
"Alright," Elijah nodded and smiled. "Yes, Mom, I might not be good at managing the business, but I'm healthy. I'll take on the task of continuing the family line. I'll make sure to give the Fields family plenty of heirs!"
Elijah patted his chest, beaming.
Hearing this, Azalea couldn't help but chuckle.
Seeing his mother smile, Elijah grinned too, and Daryl's serious expression relaxed.
The next moment, Azalea playfully slapped Elijah's hand. "You're in your twenties and haven't even had a girlfriend. You're always playing with that camera. How can I expect you to get married and have kids?"
"Mom, you'll see it happen. You'll live a long life!" Elijah hugged his mother's arm, smiling.
"You two brothers will be the death of me!" Azalea shook her head helplessly.
Meanwhile, Cecilia stood in the hallway upstairs, leaning against the wall, feeling an unexpected warmth in her heart.
She never imagined Daryl would plead with such touching words.
He had fought fiercely for her against Azalea, and even if she couldn't have children, he wouldn't abandon her.
Especially the words, "Without you, I'm just an empty shell." It was the most moving declaration of love she had ever heard.
Leaning against the wall, Cecilia smiled contentedly.
She then turned and ran into the room.
After a while, sitting by the bed, Cecilia heard Daryl's footsteps approaching.
The door opened gently, and Daryl smiled when he saw Cecilia awake. "You're up?"
"Just woke up, was about to look for you," Cecilia said softly, though her heart was racing.
She really wanted to rush over, hug him, and kiss him. She hadn't loved the wrong man.
But she also felt deep guilt for not being able to give him a child to continue his legacy.
Daryl sat on the bed, looking down. "Are you hungry? I've asked the servant to prepare your favorite dishes."
Cecilia nodded, touching her belly with a smile. "I am hungry."
"You must have not eaten all day and fainted from low blood sugar. Do you know how dangerous that is? You need to take better care of yourself. I was so worried!" Daryl's tone was reproachful, but his eyes were filled with tenderness and concern.
Seeing his worried expression, Cecilia's eyes welled with tears, and she burrowed into Daryl's broad chest, whispering, "I'm sorry for making you worry."
Daryl rested his chin on Cecilia's head, intertwining their fingers. "Don't do that again, okay?"
"Okay," Cecilia nodded, burying her face in his warm neck.
They stayed close for a while, then Daryl looked down at her. "Cecilia, no matter what happens, you are my wife. We will always love each other. You have to believe that."
Cecilia slowly lifted her head, meeting his sincere gaze.
His eyes were full of warmth and intensity, and Cecilia felt a surge of emotion.
She lowered her eyes, filled with worry. "Daryl, I know you love me, and I love you too, but..."
Daryl interrupted her. "There are no 'buts' between us. Nothing can break what we have."
