Chapter 1243 We'd Turn Into Idiots

Seeing Cecilia lounging lazily, Daryl couldn't help but grab her hand and frown. "Hey, you feeling okay? You've been looking kinda out of it these past few days, just lying around on the beach all day."

Cecilia glanced at him, though he couldn't see it through her sunglasses.

'Men are always like this,' she thought, 'so oblivious and unobservant.' How could he not realize why she was so tired and unwilling to move?

When Cecilia didn't respond for a while, Daryl reached out and took off her sunglasses. "What's going on with you? You seem so distracted."

Blushing, Cecilia sat up and nestled into Daryl's arms, her hand resting on his chest. "It's your fault. You keep wearing me out day and night. How could I possibly have any energy?"

She covered her mouth and yawned.

Daryl hesitated for a moment before understanding what she meant. He gently caressed her face, feeling guilty. "I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were so delicate."

"Even someone made of iron couldn't handle it," Cecilia said, giving him a playful slap.

Daryl burst into laughter.

"You're laughing?" Cecilia pouted, clearly displeased by his amusement.

Daryl pulled her close, resting his chin on her forehead. "It's my fault, okay? I'll have the housekeeper make you some nourishing soup."

Cecilia was still unsatisfied. "Just stop wearing me out, and that'll be enough."

But Daryl insisted, "I think you need to exercise more and build up your strength."

"You're impossible!" Cecilia grumbled.

Then she glanced down at the diamond ring on her finger and pretended to have a sudden realization. "I finally understand why you gave me this ring."

"Why?" Daryl asked.

"So you could trick me into... you know." Cecilia trailed off, realizing she had said too much, and quickly shut her mouth.

Daryl caught on and pressed her, "Trick you into what?"

"You know exactly what I mean," Cecilia said, rolling her eyes and pulling away from him.

Daryl moved closer, pinning her gently to the soft sand. His fingers ran through her hair, and his eyes gleamed with mischief. "I really don't. Tell me, what did I trick you into?"

"You're playing dumb!" Cecilia's eyes were filled with affection.

"I'm genuinely clueless," Daryl said, kissing her earlobe.

Cecilia giggled and squirmed, pushing against his chest. "Stop it! Let me go!"

"Tell me what I tricked you into, and I'll let you go," Daryl said, his eyes twinkling with playful intent.

Cecilia knew exactly what he was after, so she bit her lip and refused to answer. "I... I forgot!"

"Forgot, huh?" Daryl started tickling her under her arms.

"Stop! I'm so ticklish!" Cecilia laughed uncontrollably, writhing on the sand.

As they played, a figure suddenly appeared on the beach.

Daryl and Cecilia immediately stopped.

Daryl helped Cecilia sit up and said, "I'll go see what's up."

"Okay," Cecilia replied, noticing Douglas standing nearby.

She watched as Daryl and Douglas talked for a while. Douglas seemed troubled, but Daryl quickly dismissed him and returned to the beach.

Cecilia smiled. "What did Douglas want? You've been away from Maple Valley for five or six days. Is there something wrong at Fields Corporation?"

Daryl avoided the topic, taking her hand. "Everything's fine at Fields Corporation. Don't worry."

He lay back on the sand, his head resting on his arms, and gazed at the sky. "I've felt so relaxed and happy these past few days. I don't have to think about anything except you."

Cecilia smiled. "I feel the same way. Even though I have fewer responsibilities than you, it's been wonderful not having to think about work or deadlines. If only it could always be like this."

"If we did nothing all the time, we'd turn into idiots," Daryl said.

Cecilia turned on her side, propping her head on her hand. "That wouldn't be so bad, as long as we still recognized each other."

"You're such a goof," Daryl said, playfully pushing her head.

"Where were we?" Daryl asked after a moment.

"What do you mean?" Cecilia pretended not to remember their earlier conversation.

Seeing her play dumb, Daryl grabbed her arm and pulled her into his embrace.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Cecilia found herself on top of Daryl.

He wrapped his arms around her waist, looking up at her. "If you keep playing dumb, I might have to take drastic measures."

"Stop it! The security guard is watching," Cecilia said, glancing at the guard standing nearby.

Daryl looked over at the guard and shrugged. "He's used to it by now. I don't think he'll be shocked."

With that, Daryl flipped them over, switching their positions.

"Stop it! This is so embarrassing," Cecilia said, trying to push him off.

But Daryl was immovable, his eyes burning with intensity.

Seeing her blush and squirm, Daryl leaned in and whispered in her ear, "I've already booked the tickets. I'm not missing this ride."

Realizing she couldn't escape, Cecilia bit her lip and whispered, "Just not here, okay?"

Daryl's lips curled into a triumphant smile.

He scooped her up and carried her toward the villa.

"Slow down, will you?" Cecilia protested, clinging to his neck.

The security guard stood still, his eyes following their retreating figures.
