Chapter 1365 I Am Getting Married
Hearing this, Cecilia couldn't help but laugh, "Looks like Elijah's here again."
"Yeah, boss, you were busy baking and didn't notice. Elowen was all dressed up, looking gorgeous. Can you believe she walked out in that thin dress on such a cold day?" Calliope said, mimicking Elowen's walk in her dress.
Cecilia lowered her head and smiled.
She wasn't sure when it started, but Elijah and Elowen had begun dating. She used to know that Elowen had a one-sided crush, but at some point, Elijah fell for her too. For the past few months, Elijah had been coming over to stay for a week every month, clearly head over heels in love.
Elijah hadn't dated anyone for years, which had always worried Azalea. Now, it seemed like Elijah and Elowen might get married soon.
As the café was about to close, the doorbell suddenly rang.
Cecilia and Calliope both looked towards the door. It was nine o'clock, and they didn't expect any more customers.
A cold wind blew in, followed by a couple in thick coats, holding hands as they walked in.
Seeing Elijah and Elowen covered in snow, Cecilia exclaimed, "It's so late, why are you here? It's freezing outside, look at you two."
As she spoke, Cecilia walked over to brush the snow off Elijah and Elowen.
Elowen laughed, "It's so cold, boss. Can we get a couple of hot coffees?"
"No problem," Cecilia smiled and glanced at Calliope.
Calliope grinned, "I'll make the coffee. Looks like we won't be closing on time tonight."
Elijah, holding Elowen's hand, smiled, "You can't have coffee. Calliope, could you get her a hot milk instead?"
Calliope replied, "Alright, I'll give you a 20% discount!"
Everyone laughed at Calliope's comment.
Elijah and Elowen sat by the window. Elijah took a napkin and gently wiped the snow from Elowen's forehead and face.
Seeing Elijah's attentiveness, Cecilia felt a sense of comfort. Looking at Elowen's shy and happy expression, she felt a twinge of envy. She had once experienced such days, though they hadn't lasted. Now, she hoped Elijah and Elowen could have a long, happy life together.
Soon, Calliope brought over two coffees and a hot milk. She handed a coffee to Cecilia, another to Elijah, and placed the hot milk in front of Elowen.
Calliope teased Elowen, "Are you never going to drink coffee again?"
Elowen blushed and retorted, "If you don't speak, no one will think you're mute!"
Calliope smirked mysteriously.
Seeing their exchange, Cecilia asked, "What are you two talking about?"
Elowen's face turned even redder.
Elijah, seeing Elowen's embarrassment, said openly, "Everyone will find out eventually. We might as well share the news now and let everyone be happy for us."
"Seriously? I'm going to the restroom," Elowen said, giving Elijah a look before quickly getting up and leaving.
Seeing Elowen's flustered state, Cecilia turned to Elijah and asked, "Elijah, what's going on?"
Calliope, watching Elowen leave, chuckled, "Boss, you're so slow to catch on. What else could it be? She's pregnant!"
Cecilia felt like she was dreaming.
"What did you say? Are you saying Elowen is..." Cecilia's mouth dropped open, struggling to process the news.
Elijah confirmed, "Cecilia, Elowen is pregnant!"
Hearing the confirmation, Cecilia exclaimed, "That's wonderful news! What are your plans?"
Cecilia thought that although Elijah and Elowen were in love, marriage might still be a ways off. Their family backgrounds and experiences were quite different, much like her and Daryl back in the day. However, after all the Fields family had been through, Azalea's attitude had softened. She hoped Elijah and Elowen wouldn't face the same hardships she had. She hadn't expected Elowen to get pregnant so soon.
Seeing Elijah's joy about the baby, Cecilia guessed their wedding was imminent.
Azalea would likely be thrilled, as she had been longing for another grandchild.
Cecilia selfishly wondered if Elijah having a child might shift Azalea's focus, making it easier for Thaddeus to return to her.
Thinking of this, Cecilia felt even more excited.
Elijah smiled, "I'm planning to take Elowen to meet Mom in a couple of days. We'll get married soon. After all, a big belly doesn't look good in a wedding dress!"
Cecilia laughed, "Congratulations in advance."
"I just hope Mom won't be too shocked. She's been nagging me about this, and now I can bring her both a wife and a child," Elijah said with a smile.
Cecilia chuckled.
Three nights later, the Fields Mansion dining room was brightly lit.
Azalea, Daryl, and Thaddeus were having dinner.
Freya sat at the table, holding Thaddeus and feeding him spoonfuls of egg omelette.
Azalea kept urging Freya to feed Thaddeus more, making the dining table lively with his presence.
Suddenly, Finn walked in and said, "Mrs. Fields, Mr. Elijah Fields is back!"
Daryl's hand holding the fork froze when he heard this.
Azalea curiously asked, "He usually stays away for a week. Why is he back after just three days?"
As she spoke, Elijah walked into the dining room, beaming.
"Mom, Daryl," Elijah greeted.
Azalea smiled, "Have you eaten? Sit down and join us."
"Mom, wait a moment. I have some good news to announce," Elijah said, his eyes sparkling with happiness under the chandelier.
"What good news?" Azalea asked curiously.
"I'm getting married!" Elijah announced eagerly.
Everyone was stunned.
Daryl's eyes darkened as he stared at Elijah for a moment before placing his fork on the table.
"Married? To whom? Why so sudden? Are you joking?" Azalea asked, clearly shocked.
"Mom, marriage is no joke. I'm serious, very serious!" Elijah emphasized.
