Chapter 529 Unhappy
"She ain't here? No way. I'm checkin' every room. Even if she's not here today, I'll be back tomorrow. She can't hide forever!" James hollered, full of himself.
Susan frowned, then suddenly stood up, spun around, and stormed out of the office.
As soon as Susan left, Isabella couldn't help but frown too.
Seeing Susan, James got even cockier. "Didn't you say she wasn't here? Well, look who's here now. Think you can fool me?"
James pointed his finger at Susan, Isabella, and Maria.
Susan walked up to James and said coldly, "Didn't you say you were waiting for the court's decision? Now that the court has ruled, you're not happy with it, huh? Seems like the court can't help you either?"
James was momentarily speechless at Susan's questioning, then he started cursing at her, "The court only gave me $500 a month. I'm telling you, that's not enough. You need to give me at least $20,000 a month, or I won't let you live in peace!"
Susan sneered and said, "When have I ever had a peaceful life because of you? Let me tell you, James, that $500 is only because you gave birth to me and raised me for a few years. Otherwise, I wouldn't give you a single cent!"
"You're now Seb's wife. Don't you care about your reputation at all? Do you want people to curse you every time you go out?" James threatened Susan with public opinion and morality.
Hearing this, Susan couldn't help but look up and sneer twice, then glared at James angrily. "James, have you ever been afraid of people cursing you in your life? No, you haven't. You were heartless enough to treat Grandpa so cruelly, who raised you and even found you a wife. You didn't care about my mom who gave birth to your children. You didn't care about me and Dorothy when we were young. Since you can be so heartless and ungrateful, why should I be afraid of people cursing me? Besides, justice will prevail. You heartless people are despised by everyone!"
Susan's words left James speechless.
At this moment, Susan turned to Isabella and said, "Call security and tell them someone is causing trouble here. Get him out of here, or I won't pay the management fee next month!"
"Okay." Isabella quickly picked up the phone and made the call.
Seeing Susan's cold and heartless demeanor, James was stunned.
Then, he suddenly knelt in front of Susan!
Susan didn't expect this move and was taken aback. "What are you doing?"
James grabbed Susan's leg, crying and begging, "Susan, I was wrong before, but now I'm old and poor. I can't find a job, and I don't even have a place to stay. The $500 is just enough to rent a shabby room. I have no way to live. Please have mercy on me, or I really can't survive!"
Looking down at James crying on the ground, Susan's heart tightened.
After a bit, she shook her head and said, "Seb used to give you $800 a month for living expenses. But you weren't happy with that and wanted a villa and a luxury car? Did you really think you deserved that? What did you ever do to earn it?"
"I know I messed up. I don't want anything fancy anymore. Can you just give me the same living expenses as before?" James pleaded, looking up.
Seeing James kneeling there, Susan was both pissed and fed up. Finally, she shook her head in disgust. "Too late for that!"
Right then, two security guards walked in.
"Who's causing trouble here?" one of the guards asked.
"It's him, making a scene. Get him outta here. Don't let him back in. He's a total scumbag!" Isabella immediately pointed at James, still on his knees.
The two security guards then went up and yanked James to his feet.
James struggled, but the guards were big and strong. They eventually dragged him out.
For a while, Susan could still hear James's wailing.
Then, Susan felt her legs go weak and collapsed into a chair.
Seeing Susan's pale face, Isabella and Maria hurriedly asked, "What's wrong? You okay? Need to go to the hospital?"
Susan waved her hand weakly and said, "I'm fine, just a bit of a fast heartbeat."
Maria quickly poured Susan a glass of water. After resting in the chair for a bit, Susan slowly got up and headed back to her office.
Isabella naturally followed her in. Seeing Susan sitting on the sofa with a pale face, she couldn't help but advise, "Don't let someone like him get to you."
"I get it, but he keeps embarrassing me. No matter how good my attitude is, I can't be completely unaffected," Susan said, holding her head.
"You must've owed James in a past life, and now you're paying it back," Isabella said.
Susan sighed, then picked up her phone and called her lawyer.
The call was quickly answered, and Susan said into the phone, "Please start transferring $1,000 to James's account every month from today. Yes, okay, goodbye."
After hanging up, Isabella frowned and asked, "Didn't the court say $500? You still can't be ruthless?"
Susan smiled bitterly. "Didn't he say $500 is just enough to rent a crappy room? The extra $500 should at least keep him from starving. I've done my best."
"Yeah, you've done your best. If he causes trouble again, it's on him," Isabella nodded.
That night, Susan curled up in bed, feeling down.
After taking a shower, Seb saw Susan's low spirits and asked with concern, "What's up? Why do you look so down today?"
"Nothing," Susan forced a smile.
"Is it because of James?" Seb asked.
"How'd you know?" Susan didn't want to hide it from Seb.
"He came to Prosperity Group to ask for my help today," Seb replied.
"He went to Prosperity Group too?" Susan sat up in surprise.
"Did he come to see you too?" Seb frowned and asked.
Hearing that James had also gone to Prosperity Group, Susan couldn't help but sneer. He was really shameless.
