Chapter 362 You Are My Woman
Susan blurted out, "Mom, I got a promotion, so work's been crazy busy, and I've had to take care of Spring too. That's why I haven't been around. My bad! I'll whip up something tasty for you tonight."
She lifted the meat and veggies she was carrying and headed straight to the kitchen to get cooking.
Catherine, hearing about Susan's promotion, lit up and asked, "Why didn't you call me? This is such awesome news. It's been ages since we had any good news."
Susan, while picking veggies, couldn't help but ask, "Mom, how's Dorothy doing?"
Truth be told, Susan had been worried about Dorothy, wondering how she was holding up after moving back with Henry.
Catherine joined her, helping wash the veggies, and said with a sigh, "James moved in with Henry and Dorothy."
Susan was floored. She looked at Catherine, wide-eyed, and asked, "Why is James crashing with Dorothy and Henry?"
"I kicked him out, and he had nowhere else to go. So he went to Dorothy, and she took him in. If I'd known this would happen, I would've put up with him here. Now, with him stirring the pot, Dorothy and Henry's relationship is probably even worse," Catherine sighed, full of regret.
Susan naturally knew how James was. Dorothy was already a handful, and with James egging her on, things between her and Henry were bound to get messier.
But at this point, there wasn't much Susan or Catherine could do. Plus, having James live with Catherine wasn't a great idea either. So Susan tried to comfort her mom, even though she was worried too.
She comforted, "Mom, since it's come to this, don't stress too much. If you're really worried, just visit Dorothy and Amanda more often."
"That's all I can do," Catherine sighed.
Susan cooked up a storm, making Catherine super happy. But Susan felt guilty for not spending enough time with her mom because of work and the kids. In the end, she just left more money.
That night, it felt like old times, chatting with Catherine until almost ten before leaving at her mom's urging.
Luckily, she caught the last bus. As Susan got off, she felt pretty good about the day.
She walked into her apartment building and was about to fish out her keys from her bag.
Out of nowhere, a big hand grabbed her arm from behind!
Susan freaked out, her limbs going jelly, thinking it was some creep.
"Where have you been? Why are you back so late? Do you know I've been looking everywhere for you?" She turned around to see a worried face.
In the dim light, Seb's eyes were full of concern and a bit of scolding, his face tense but oddly sweet at that moment.
"I was at my mom's place," Susan said, all innocent-like.
"I called you a million times, and you didn't pick up!" Seb shot back, waving his phone around.
Susan quickly dug out her phone from her bag and frowned. "The battery died!"
She'd been so busy cooking, eating, and chatting with Catherine that she hadn't checked her phone. She didn't even know when it had died, but seeing Seb's worried face, she figured it must've died right after work. She remembered her phone showing low battery when she called Mary before leaving.
"You're an adult! How can you be so careless? When your phone's about to die, don't you know to charge it? What if there's an emergency and no one can reach you, or you need help and can't call anyone?" Seb scolded her.
Susan knew she was in the wrong, but Seb's nagging made her lose all her guilt and gratitude. She snapped back, "Seb, who do you think you are, yelling at me at my door? Do I have to answer your calls? You're not my family or my boss, so why should I listen to your nagging?"
With that, she pushed Seb away and tried to unlock her door.
But she didn't realize she'd already ticked Seb off. He'd been waiting at her door for two hours and was beyond impatient.
Seb stepped forward, grabbed her shoulders, and pinned her against the wall, saying, "Let me tell you something; you are my woman, and you have to listen to whatever I say, got it?"
Hearing his domineering words, Susan angrily tried to push him away, but she was no match for his strength.
She could only stomp her foot and argue, "Who is your woman?"
Seb lowered his head and silenced her with a kiss!
A warm breath washed over her, and Susan struggled, but it was useless.
Her struggle only made Seb's kiss more intense. He held her hands tightly, not letting her resist.
In desperation, Susan bit Seb's tongue.
The taste of blood filled her mouth, but Seb didn't stop. Finally, Susan had to let go, terrified by Seb's fierce demeanor, as if he wanted to devour her.
After what felt like forever, when Susan was scared stiff by the taste of blood, Seb finally stopped the kiss.
She had only meant to scare him into letting her go, but he was unfazed, seemingly not feeling any pain.
After the kiss, Susan saw a satisfied smile on Seb's face.
She touched her lips and found blood. She frowned and asked, "Doesn't it hurt?"
"Nope," Seb said with a grin.
"You're nuts," Susan muttered.
"Whatever. You're meant to be with me," Seb said, moving his tongue and touching his lips.
Seeing Seb's actions, Susan rolled her eyes.
