Chapter 1044 Important Event
Upon hearing this, Isabella muttered, "Susan is such a blabbermouth."
"Are you planning to keep this from me?" Leon asked, looking down at the dejected Isabella.
"No, I just wanted to think it through myself first and tell you in a couple of days. You're so busy right now, and you've just recovered from your injuries. I don't want to worry you anymore," Isabella said, meeting Leon's gaze.
Hearing this, Leon felt a stir in his heart and pulled Isabella into his arms.
Isabella buried her face in his neck, feeling a mix of emotions. The arrival of this kid was so sudden, catching them both off guard.
Not long after, Leon suddenly stroked Isabella's back and said, "There's something I haven't told you."
"What is it?" Isabella immediately looked up at Leon, feeling extremely nervous because his serious expression indicated that what he was about to say was important.
Sensing Isabella's anxiety, Leon patted her shoulder with a smile. "Don't worry, it's good news."
Hearing this, Isabella breathed a slight sigh of relief. "So what is it?"
Leon replied, "A few days ago, I hired top genetic experts from both our country and abroad to conduct a detailed comparison and study of my mother's and my DNA. The results showed that if my mother had a boy, the kid wouldn't inherit the condition, but if she had a girl, the likelihood of inheritance was high. In other words, if we have a boy, the chances are that he will be fine, but if it's a girl, the likelihood of inheritance is very high."
Hearing this, Isabella couldn't help but feel a bit happy. "So, you mean Milo is likely to be fine?"
"Yes." Leon nodded.
With this confirmation, Isabella couldn't contain her joy. "That's great! I can finally feel reassured!"
Seeing Isabella so happy, Leon smiled too.
However, the next moment, Isabella's face turned worried again. "But what if the baby in my belly is a girl?"
Leon looked down at Isabella's small belly, hesitated for a moment, and then comforted her, "Maybe it's still a boy?"
"How can we be sure? If it's a girl, Leon, what are we going to do?" Isabella looked up, throwing the difficult question back at Leon.
Hearing this, Leon was momentarily speechless, not knowing how to respond.
Isabella knew that Leon was a very rational person. She understood that if the baby in her belly was a girl, Leon might ask her to terminate the pregnancy. He just didn't say it out of consideration for her feelings.
The thought of possibly having to give up her baby just because it was a girl made Isabella's heart ache terribly.
Seeing Isabella's sorrowful and fearful expression, Leon said, "Nothing is certain yet. When the baby is a bit bigger, we can do a gender test, okay?"
"No! I don't want to," Isabella immediately took a step back upon hearing this.
As if someone was about to take her baby away, Isabella's eyes were filled with a protective instinct for the baby.
Sensing Isabella's agitation, Leon frowned and after a long pause said, "Isabella, calm down. I won't force you to do anything you don't want to do."
Although Leon's words were a bit difficult, his eyes were filled with determination.
Even though Isabella trusted Leon deeply, she knew that in this matter, she was emotional while Leon was rational.
She also knew that if the baby in her belly was a girl, bringing her into this world might lead to a tragic life, but she still didn't want to give up on it.
At this moment, Isabella was filled with inner conflict, hoping the baby was a boy, but if it was a girl, she didn't know if forcing her into this world was right or wrong.
After calming down, Isabella said, "Let's wait three months and see if the baby is a boy or a girl before making a decision."
Noticing Isabella much calmer, Leon gently pulled her back into his arms. "Yes, let's wait three months before deciding. By the way, since you're pregnant, you must be experiencing some pregnancy symptoms. You should stay home and rest instead of going to work."
Isabella shook her head. "No, if I stay home doing nothing, I'll just overthink. Do you want me to stay home and worry all day?"
Hearing this, Leon nodded. "Alright, as long as you're happy."
Hearing this, Isabella nodded and then rested her face against his chest.
At three o'clock that afternoon, Susan hurried out of the office building's restroom.
Susan headed straight for the conference room, as Seb and Leon were hosting an important high-level meeting for Stellar International Group's merger at that time.
As soon as Susan reached the conference room door, she was stopped by Leon's assistant. "Mrs. Anderson, Mr. Anderson and Mr. Johnson are in a meeting."
"I know, but I have something very important to discuss with Mr. Anderson," Susan said.
"Mrs. Anderson, today's meeting is very important, and no one dares to interrupt," Royce said, looking troubled.
Hearing this, Susan touched her head, looking very anxious.
Seeing this, Royce suggested. "Mrs. Anderson, how about this: you write a note, and I'll hand it to Mr. Anderson when I get a chance. Let Mr. Anderson decide whether to come out and see you. How does that sound? After all, no one dares to interrupt such an important meeting."
Susan understood that Royce was telling the truth. It wouldn't be appropriate to barge in.
So, Susan nodded. "Alright then."
Susan quickly wrote a note and handed it to Royce. "Thank you."
"You're welcome. It's my job," Royce said with a smile.
Royce then said, "Please wait a moment. I'll take it in right away."
But Susan, unable to wait, said, "I'll just go home and wait for him."
With that, Susan turned and hurried away.
Royce frowned, sensing that something was off with Susan today. Normally, she was very composed and never sought special treatment at the company, even though she was Seb's wife. What could have happened to make her so anxious?
The next moment, Royce gently pushed open the conference room door.
Inside the conference room, dozens of people were seated around an oval table. The atmosphere was very serious, with senior executives from both Johnson Corporation and Prosperity Group present.
Seb sat at the head of the table, with Leon to his left, co-hosting the meeting.
Seeing Leon speaking, Royce approached Seb and, under the pretense of pouring water, placed the note in front of him.
