Chapter 946 The Gift

When Isabella heard that, she couldn't help but laugh. Leon standing there all cocky was something else, but she kinda liked that confidence—couldn't help herself.

"Hey, don't get too full of yourself. He's a lawyer, and punching a lawyer could land you in hot water!" Isabella warned Leon.

"You still haven't answered my question," Leon pushed.

Isabella looked down and mumbled, "He called me earlier."

Leon froze for a second, then clenched his teeth. "I knew he wouldn't back off."

"I've talked him out of pursuing me," Isabella quickly added.

"Really?" Leon's eyes narrowed as he looked at her.

"Really," Isabella nodded fast, then frowned. "I'm not young, I don't have money, and I don't even like him. Why's he so hung up on me? Seriously!"

Leon nodded. "Yeah, you're good for nothing, but I still chose you. Think I'm an idiot or something?"

He grinned and leaned in close to her.

Isabella laughed, pushed his face away, and said, "Focus on driving, I'm not ready to die yet!"

Leon hit the gas, speeding up, and laughed. "Don't worry, I'll be with you in life and in death, you won't lose out!"

"I don't wanna die, okay?" Isabella rolled her eyes at him.

Leon rarely smiled so brightly.

That night, Leon whipped up steak, caviar, salad, and soup. It was all top-notch, and Isabella ate till she was stuffed.

After dinner, Leon suddenly pulled out a red velvet box and handed it to her.

Seeing the box, Isabella's mind raced.

Judging by the look and size, it had to be jewelry.

'Is he gonna propose?' The thought made her heart race.

But it felt too soon. They'd only been dating a day, and he was already proposing?

Should she say yes? Isabella had never really thought about marriage.

But she had always dreamed of getting married, living with the man she loved, and having kids.

"What's this?" Isabella blushed and asked shyly.

Leon raised an eyebrow. "Nothing special, just a gift."

Seeing his expression, Isabella hesitantly took the box.

She opened it.

Under the light, a pair of sparkling diamond earrings lay inside.

Isabella was stunned. The earrings glittered with small diamonds, definitely not cheap. But she felt a bit let down.

Seeing her stare at the earrings, Leon laughed. "So surprised you forgot how to talk?"

Isabella snapped out of it and smiled. "Why give me a gift out of the blue? Today's not special or anything."

Leon looked at her deeply. "No reason, just wanted to make you happy."

Even though the box didn't have a ring, the sincerity in Leon's eyes still got to Isabella. She saw real affection and determination in his gaze.

"Help me put them on," she said.

Leon nodded, stepping forward to pick up one earring. But he was all thumbs, and after a while, he only managed to get one earring on, and it was crooked.

Isabella laughed. "How can you be so clumsy? You can't even put on an earring right."

"This isn't my thing, okay?" Leon defended himself, still fumbling with the earring.

"Never put earrings on a woman before?" Isabella teased.

Leon paused, then grinned. "None of the girls I dated before had pierced ears."

"Leon, what do you mean?" Isabella pushed him away, annoyed.

Leon laughed. "What? Jealous?"

Isabella hid her irritation, grabbed the other earring from Leon, and put it on herself. "Funny, the guys I dated before were all great at putting on earrings."

Leon pouted and muttered, "Bragging? If you dated so many guys, would you still be single?"

He headed to clean up the dishes.

"Leon, what did you say?" Isabella heard him and was furious.

"Nothing. You take your time with the earrings, I'll wash the dishes," Leon said, carrying the dishes into the kitchen.

Watching him wash dishes, hearing the water running, Isabella couldn't help but smile. She easily put on the earrings, grabbed a mirror, and sat on the couch to admire them. She had to admit, the diamond earrings were classy and elegant, just her style. Leon really knew how to pick a gift.

When Leon finished and came out of the kitchen, he saw Isabella still admiring the earrings in the mirror.

Seeing her so happy, Leon smiled and started tidying up the dining table.

Half an hour later, wiping sweat from his forehead, Leon said to Isabella, who was eating fruit on the couch, "I've cleaned the whole house. Take a hot bath tonight and rest early. I'll pick you up tomorrow morning."

He rolled down his sleeves, looking ready to leave.

Isabella looked around at the spotless house and felt touched. Not every guy would do this, especially an executive at Prosperity Group. She felt his care and thoughtfulness.

As he was about to leave, Isabella said, "It's still early. Why don't you rest a bit and have some fruit before you go?"

Leon hesitated for a moment, then turned and sat on the couch.
