Chapter 1281 Handsome Elijah

When Cecilia found out the bedsheet was a gift from Isaac to Azalea for their thirtieth wedding anniversary, she felt even more guilty.

"Mom, I'm really sorry. I had no idea the bedsheet was so important. How about I take it to the dry cleaners right now and see if they can fix it?" Cecilia suggested quickly.

"It's already ruined. What can be done now? You can't even handle a simple task. How can I trust you with the Fields family in the future? It's bad enough you can't do anything right, but you've been married into the Fields family for over six months and still haven't gotten pregnant. You're useless!" Azalea continued to berate her.

Upon hearing Azalea's harsh words, Cecilia's face flushed. She couldn't argue back; it was her fault the bedsheet was ruined, and it was also her responsibility that she hadn't gotten pregnant yet.

As Cecilia stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to say, a tall figure suddenly came down the stairs.

Elijah saw what was happening and quickly approached Azalea with a smile. "Mom, I got the photos developed. Let me show them to you."

Azalea, still angry, glanced at her youngest son and then at the bedsheet she had thrown on the couch. "I'm not in the mood," she said with a frown.

Elijah gently took her arm and said, "I put a lot of effort into taking these photos for you. The least you can do is take a look. It's not fair to dismiss my hard work."

"Don't pull me. I can walk by myself," Azalea grumbled, shaking off his hand but heading towards Elijah's photo studio.

"Mom, I'm telling you, these photos turned out great. I'm even thinking of entering them in a photo contest!" Elijah said, following her with a smile.

"What? Enter my photos in a contest? Who wants to see an old lady? You should find a young, pretty girl to be your model. People will just laugh at me," Azalea continued to grumble, but it was clear her mood had improved.

Elijah turned and winked at Cecilia, signaling that she could relax now that he had distracted Azalea.

"Mom, to me, you're the most beautiful," Elijah said sweetly.

Azalea couldn't help but smile and playfully hit her son's shoulder.

They went into the photo studio to look at the pictures, and Azalea forgot all about Cecilia standing in the living room.

Cecilia felt very grateful to Elijah.

Elijah wasn't home often, and Cecilia didn't see him much. She had heard he was always busy with his photography studio, traveling around the world to take pictures. She hadn't expected him to be so considerate and come to her rescue.

Cecilia smiled slightly, picked up the ruined bedsheet from the couch, and decided to take it to the dry cleaners to see if there was any way to fix it.

The next morning, after ironing Daryl's clothes, Cecilia helped the servants change the bedsheets in all the rooms.

Cecilia was in Elijah's room, putting on a clean floral bedsheet, when he suddenly walked in.

"Cecilia, you should let the servants handle this. Why do you need to do it yourself?" Elijah said with a smile when he saw her smoothing the sheet on the bed.

Cecilia turned around and saw Elijah standing behind her.

Elijah was dressed in a white casual outfit, exuding a youthful and energetic vibe.

Elijah was six years younger than Daryl and about the same age as Cecilia. He was usually lively and humorous, quite different from Daryl's personality.

Cecilia smiled and said, "The servants are busy, so I thought I'd help out. It makes things go faster, and we can get the sheets washed sooner."

She wiped the sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand, which was already damp.

Seeing this, Elijah pulled a white handkerchief from his pocket and handed it to her.

Cecilia looked at the handkerchief and smiled. "No need, I don't want to dirty your handkerchief."

The handkerchief was pristine white with an embroidered sailboat. Cecilia felt her hands were too dirty to use it.

Ignoring her hesitation, Elijah placed the handkerchief in her hand and said with a smile, "Cecilia, you're working hard to change my sheets. The least I can do is offer you a handkerchief."

Cecilia smiled and accepted his kind gesture, using the handkerchief to wipe her forehead.

Elijah looked at her and said, "Cecilia, ever since you joined the family, you've been the one changing my sheets and cleaning my room. Thank you for your hard work."

Cecilia blushed and smiled. "I just supervise the servants, so it's not that hard."

"But you still put in a lot of effort," Elijah said.

"As the Fields family's daughter-in-law, it's my duty," Cecilia replied with a smile.

Elijah was a bit of a free spirit, always engrossed in his photography and not paying much attention to other things. Cecilia was touched that he had noticed her efforts over the past six months.

After all, she wanted to be accepted by the Fields family. While Azalea clearly didn't approve of her, gaining Elijah's approval made her happy.

"My mom has a difficult personality. I know she's given you a hard time, but she's just stubborn. Once she gets to know you and sees how great you are, she'll change her mind. So, you might have to endure a bit more," Elijah said suddenly.

Hearing this, Cecilia felt a lump in her throat.

She didn't want to burden Daryl with her troubles with Azalea, so she had been keeping it all to herself. Elijah's words were a comfort.

Cecilia smiled and said, "I understand. I won't hold it against her. And thank you for helping me out yesterday."

"We're family. It's a piece of cake," Elijah said, scratching the back of his head with a shy smile.

"Yes, we're family. I'll wash this and return it to you," Cecilia said, looking at the handkerchief in her hand.
