Chapter 1372 The Human Billboard

That night, the wind was biting cold.

Cecilia pulled her down jacket tighter and hurried towards her apartment building.

As she walked, she felt something was off. She spun around and, sure enough, saw a shadowy figure about a hundred feet away.

When Cecilia saw him, her anger flared up.

She stormed up to Daryl and demanded, "Why do you keep following me?"

Daryl looked at her intently and said, "It's late, and I was worried it might not be safe for you. I'm just making sure you get home okay. That's all."

Cecilia's anger boiled over. "Whether I'm safe or not is none of your business. Do you realize you're disrupting my life? I'm asking you, no, I'm begging you, stop following me, or I'll call the police!"

She ended with a direct threat.

But Daryl responded calmly, "This is definitely my business. You're the mother of my child. My child can't be without a mother."

Cecilia was momentarily stunned by his words, then her anger surged even more. "Your child? Since when do you have a child? Are you kidding me?"

She crossed her arms over her chest, a cold smile on her face.

Daryl's expression was filled with guilt. "Cecilia, I know I wronged you before. It was all my fault. Thaddeus is my son, and I owe him too. I'll spend the rest of my life making it up to you and Thaddeus."

Cecilia sneered, "Thanks, but I don't need your apologies. Since you admit Thaddeus is your son, you're welcome to think about how to make it up to him."

"Daryl," she cut him off, holding up her hand. "There's nothing more to say between us. Stop following me, or I really will call the police!"

With that, Cecilia turned and walked away quickly.

Daryl watched her silhouette fade into the night, his brow furrowing deeply.

For the next three days, Daryl showed up at the coffee shop every morning as soon as it opened and stayed until closing time.

Cecilia treated Daryl like any other customer, ignoring him completely.

Daryl didn't try to talk to her again. He sat there, as still as a statue.

Interestingly, business at the coffee shop had been booming, especially with female customers. Cecilia found herself spending half the day baking cakes to keep up with the demand.

Around 2 PM, the shop finally quieted down.

Cecilia took a moment to catch her breath behind the counter, wiping the sweat from her forehead with a napkin.

"Boss, have you noticed? Business has been great these past few days, and it's mostly women?" Calliope whispered to Cecilia.

Cecilia frowned and thought for a moment. It was true; the desserts and cakes women loved had been selling exceptionally well.

"Yeah, what's going on?" Cecilia asked curiously.

"It's because we have a live advertisement!" Calliope said, glancing towards the window where Daryl sat.

Following Calliope's gaze, Cecilia looked at Daryl.

In an instant, she understood what Calliope meant.

No wonder so many single women had been coming to the shop, choosing to sit near Daryl. He was attracting them like a magnet. Cecilia couldn't help but take a sharp breath. Wherever he went, women flocked to him.

Calliope continued in a low voice, "Boss, you've been in the back baking cakes, so you haven't seen it. Lots of single women have been hitting on him, some even sitting here all afternoon just staring at him. Our sales have skyrocketed, especially the cakes. We should thank him. If he stays until New Year's, our business will explode. He's fantastic at drawing customers into our shop!"

"Stop it. If he stays until New Year's, this place will turn into a brothel," Cecilia said, frowning.

"True, then we'd be selling booze and ecstasy instead of cakes and coffee," Calliope joked as she wiped down a table.

Cecilia glanced at Daryl, then turned to the back to catch her breath, not wanting to see him.

Around 4 PM, the coffee shop got busy again.

As Cecilia brought out cakes and brewed coffee, she noticed the influx of single women, especially young and attractive ones, all sitting near Daryl.

She saw several women trying to strike up conversations with Daryl, but he didn't even look at them. He either stared out the window, read his magazine, or worked on his laptop.

The more aloof Daryl was, the more obsessed the women became.

Cecilia watched with a cold eye, as if it were a joke.

As evening fell and the city lights came on, the coffee shop was quiet, with only a few customers.

A stylish, fashion-forward young woman sat next to Daryl, her eyes constantly scanning him.

As Cecilia brought out freshly brewed coffee, Calliope tugged on her apron and whispered, "See that? That lady has been staring at him for half an hour. I bet she's about to make a move."

Calliope then delivered the coffee to the fashionable young woman.

Cecilia glanced over. The young woman was indeed stylish and attractive, with waist-length wavy hair and bright red lips that were hard to forget.

Calliope placed the coffee on the table in front of the young woman and walked away.

The young woman picked up her coffee and approached Daryl, smiling. "Excuse me, sir, may I sit here?"

Daryl didn't even look up, his eyes still on his laptop. "Aren't there plenty of empty seats over there?"

His meaning was clear: she could sit elsewhere.

The young woman felt a bit embarrassed by Daryl's coldness.

But she wasn't ready to give up. Her eyes flashed, and she smiled. "If it's inconvenient, never mind."

As she turned to leave, her high heel twisted, and she lost her balance, falling towards Daryl!
