Chapter 233 Overwhelmed By Emotions

Susan suddenly felt a tight grip around her waist and found herself in a warm hug.

Her waist was so slim that George, who just meant to steady her, ended up pulling her right into his arms.

George's heart was racing, almost like it was going to jump out of his chest. The last time he felt this way, he was a teenager in his first innocent love. Since then, no other woman had made him feel like this.

Susan was startled. She'd already had a bad fall today and was still shaken. She was scared another fall might be fatal, so her heart was pounding too, but for different reasons.

George noticed Susan had regained her balance but didn't want to let go of her waist.

Susan smiled slightly and said, "Thanks." She raised her arm, signaling she wanted to push him away.

Susan's intention was clear, but George was still lost in the moment.

Looking at Susan's cheeks and slightly curled eyelashes, George felt a surge of emotions intensify within him. In a moment of impulsivity, he leaned in, almost instinctively, to kiss her.

Susan was stunned! What was George trying to do? Her hand, raised in the air, hesitated to push him away.

George had helped her so much. Without him, she and Spring wouldn't even know where they'd be now. Was it too ungrateful to push him away? But she couldn't repay him with herself, could she?

In the end, Susan instinctively pushed George away with all her might.

Caught off guard, George stumbled back a step.

Susan quickly turned her back, touching her cheek, unsure of what to do next.

After regaining his balance, George realized how absurd his behavior was. He touched his hair and said regretfully, "I'm sorry."

Just then, Serenity came in with a steaming dish and called out, "Mr. Anderson, Ms. Wilson, dinner's ready!"

Hearing this, Susan quickly said, "Got it." She stole a quick glance at George but avoided direct eye contact, remarking, "It's time to eat."

With that, she turned and slipped into the bathroom.

Dinner was naturally awkward. Susan kept her head down, eating without looking up at George.

George also kept his head down, eating, not daring to look up.

Serenity, a bit puzzled, asked, "Mr. Anderson, why aren't you eating much today? Is my cooking not to your taste?"

"No, I just have some work to do. You guys go ahead and eat." With that, George got up, grabbed his briefcase, and walked out.

After the door closed, Serenity turned to ask, "Ms. Wilson, what's up with Mr. Anderson today? He seems a bit off."

"Really? I don't know either," Susan replied vaguely and said no more.

Serenity looked at the door, then at Susan, shaking her head in confusion.

Since then, Susan hadn't seen George for several days.

Susan thought the incident would just blow over and planned to avoid being alone with George in the future.

Things didn't go as Susan expected. George avoided her for days, making things even more awkward.

One evening after dinner, Serenity was cleaning the table while Susan packed parcels on the living room floor.

As she wiped the table, Serenity asked, "Ms. Wilson, did I do something to offend Mr. Anderson? He didn't come over for dinner today either. Does he not like my cooking anymore?"

Susan looked up and asked, "You said George came home after work tonight?"

"Yes, I saw him when I took out the trash. I asked if he was coming over for dinner, and he said no," Serenity replied.

Realizing George was deliberately avoiding her, Susan said, "Maybe he has a date or something."

Then Serenity suddenly remembered, "Oh, I think Mr. Anderson has a bad cold. I saw him sneezing a lot and he didn't look well."

"What? He's sick?" Susan frowned.

"Yes, he probably is. Maybe he doesn't have an appetite," Serenity answered.

"Did he take any medicine?" Susan asked, worried.

"I don't know," Serenity shook her head.

George was usually very healthy and rarely got sick, so he never kept any medicine at home.

Thinking of this, Susan quickly went to her room to find some cold and fever medicine. She then said to Serenity, "Serenity, Spring is about to sleep. Can you watch her for me? I'm going to check on George and bring him some medicine."

"Sure," Serenity nodded.

Susan left the house and went straight to George's front door, ringing the doorbell.

The doorbell rang for a long time, but George didn't come to the door, making Susan increasingly anxious.

After hesitating, Susan quickly went back to get the key. For emergencies, George had left a key at Susan's house, which came in handy today.

With the key in hand, Susan entered the darkened house. Frowning, she made her way to the living room and flipped on the light switch. As she ventured further inside, finding every room shrouded in darkness, Susan cautiously nudged open the door to the master bedroom. In the faint light from the living room, Susan saw George curled up under the covers.

Seeing him like this, Susan hurried to the bedside. She reached out to shake George, who was wearing loungewear, and called, "George?"

"Water," George mumbled with his eyes closed.

Susan quickly poured a glass of warm water. Patting his shoulder, she said, "George, here's some water. Drink up."

Despite her efforts, George remained unresponsive.Feeling his forehead, Susan couldn't help but feel concerned. He was burning up; George had a fever!

Susan quickly opened the fever medicine she had brought, then sat on the bed and used all her strength to help George sit up.

"George, take your medicine," she said, putting the medicine in George's mouth and bringing the glass of water to his lips.

Just after taking the medicine, before Susan could put down the glass, George suddenly hugged her, muttering, "Cold."
