Chapter 1137 Apology

Since the incident yesterday, Seraphine was the first person besides Marcella to ask Cecilia about it. Everyone else had already decided that Cecilia was responsible and didn't give her any chance to defend herself.

Cecilia stared at Seraphine and said earnestly, "Ms. Lawson, it really wasn't me. I clearly bought a pair of crystal swans. I don't know why the gift suddenly turned into a creepy doll. This interview is crucial for my promotion. If this gets out, I'll never be able to work in the media industry again. I couldn't be so foolish as to do something that would ruin me forever!"

Hearing this, Seraphine frowned and thought for a moment before standing up and saying, "I can't figure it out either. This whole thing seems very strange."

Hearing this, Cecilia felt that Seraphine believed in her and was greatly comforted; after all, she thought that Seraphine would be scolding herself bitterly.

Cecilia then said, "Ms. Lawson, I'm really innocent. What should I do?"

Seraphine thought for a moment and then said, "Right now, everyone thinks you did it. Until there's evidence proving otherwise, you'll have to bear this injustice. Calista probably told you that the Fields Family and the Tate Family have both put pressure on the magazine. Since this incident is related to our magazine and you, we should at least visit Ms. Tate in the hospital out of courtesy. Don't you agree?"

Hearing this, Cecilia nodded and then hesitantly said, "Ms. Lawson, should I apologize at the hospital? But if I apologize, it would be admitting that I did the creepy doll thing."

Hearing this, Seraphine thought for a moment and then said, "You can explain to Ms. Tate."

"But she probably won't believe me," Cecilia said dejectedly, recalling Skylar's expression and accusations when she saw the creepy doll.

"It's her call whether she believes you or not. Just steering clear of her won't fix the issue," Seraphine said.

After thinking it over, Cecilia felt that Seraphine made sense and nodded in agreement.

Without delay, Seraphine called to order a bouquet of flowers and then took Cecilia straight to the hospital.

Walking down the pristine hospital corridor, Cecilia felt a bit nervous. Skylar had been very emotional yesterday. She pondered whether Skylar had settled down today. She also mulled over whether Daryl would show up. His icy stare from yesterday still sent chills down her spine.

Seraphine glanced at Cecilia and, sensing her nervousness, slowed her pace and whispered, "You don't need to be too nervous. I've asked around, and Skylar is fine. She's been dieting for her upcoming wedding, so she's been weak. Plus, she fainted yesterday because she was so angry."

Hearing this, Cecilia felt a bit better.

She had thought Skylar fainted entirely because of her. It turned out Skylar had been weak recently.

Skylar's ward was, of course, a VIP ward. Seraphine knocked on the door before pushing it open and leading Cecilia inside.

Holding the bouquet, Cecilia saw Skylar sitting on the bed, with a well-dressed middle-aged woman sitting by her side. Cecilia assumed this woman was Skylar's mother.

"Are you here to see Skylar?" The sharp-looking middle-aged woman asked, glancing at Seraphine and Cecilia.

"Yes, we're from Vogue Vista. We're here to visit Ms. Tate," Seraphine said with a smile.

Cecilia met Skylar's eyes and took a step forward with Seraphine. Honestly, since this incident started because of her, Cecilia felt very guilty seeing Skylar in the hospital.

Skylar glared at Cecilia and said resentfully, "Why are you here? I will never forgive you. You ruined my good mind yesterday!"

Hearing this, the middle-aged woman looked at Cecilia in surprise, then stood up and walked over to her, scrutinizing her sharply. "Are you the reporter from Vogue Vista who upset my daughter-in-law?"

Hearing this, Cecilia looked at Skylar in surprise, realizing that this woman was not Skylar's mother but Daryl's mother.

Realizing this, Cecilia felt very uncomfortable. She never expected to meet Daryl's mother today.

At this moment, Seraphine nudged Cecilia.

Cecilia immediately remembered why she was there and quickly said, "I'm here to apologize. No, I mean, Skylar, I really didn't do it. But since it all started because of me, I'm very sorry!"

Cecilia was at a loss for words. She really didn't know how to face Daryl's mother, even though Daryl's mother didn't know who she was.

Before Skylar could speak, Daryl's mother arrogantly retorted, "What do you mean by that? It was clearly your magazine's fault, and now you're trying to shirk responsibility? My daughter-in-law has suffered so much, and you still have this attitude. And you call yourselves a reputable media outlet? This is eye-opening. Let me tell you, we won't let this go. Your magazine might as well shut down!"

Cecilia had no words to respond to Daryl's mother's scolding and didn't want to argue with her. She looked at Skylar and softly asked, "Skylar, do you really think I did it?"

"Who else could it be? Cecilia, I thought we were friends. I guess I was wrong. No wonder you've always been so cold to me. You never wanted to be friends. Let's just pretend we never knew each other. Leave. I don't want to see you again!" Skylar said, turning her face away from Cecilia.

Skylar's attitude made Cecilia feel very awkward.

At this moment, Seraphine smiled at Daryl's mother and said, "Mrs. Fields, right? I'm Seraphine, the editor-in-chief of Vogue Vista. This incident is indeed our magazine's responsibility. We are willing to cover all of Ms. Tate's medical expenses and publicly apologize. If you or Ms. Tate have any requests, please let us know, and we will do our best to meet you..."

Before Seraphine could finish, Daryl's mother interrupted her.
