Chapter 700 Shock
Esme pouted and said, "At first, I thought it was because I wasn't attractive enough. But then I quietly asked around about those celebrities and models who got close to him later, and they all had the same experience!"
"The same?" Susan's eyes widened.
"No matter what they tried, not a flicker. But he was always happy to throw money at them. So yeah, I'm thinking there's definitely something wrong in that department. By the way, you two have kids, right? Did you go the IVF route?" Esme asked bluntly.
Susan stammered, not knowing how to respond. "Well... um..."
"There's no shame in IVF. You gave him two kids, and he's generous with money, so he definitely won't treat you badly." Esme nudged Susan.
Susan felt uncomfortable with the nudge and smiled, saying, "Well, at least he has plenty of money!"
At this point, a smile appeared on Susan's face.
Because what Leon said was true, Seb was just trying to piss her off by being with those women. He could come up with such a petty trick.
"Well, they say life is fair. He has money, looks, and charm, but it's a pity he has issues in that area. Anyway, my boyfriend is waiting for me. Let's chat next time!" With that, Esme waved at Susan, grabbed her handbag, and left.
"Sure!" Susan forced a smile at her.
After Esme left, Susan suddenly felt much better. She turned to look at herself in the mirror, hardly believing it was true. But Esme had no reason to lie to her; facts were facts, as Leon had said.
A while later, Susan left the restroom.
As soon as she sat down, Isabella, who was eating, said, "Why did you take so long in the bathroom?"
"Oh, you know I have a habit of taking my time in the bathroom." With that, Susan picked up her knife and fork, suddenly feeling very hungry.
Just a moment ago, Susan had no appetite, but now she was eating with gusto.
Isabella curiously stared at Susan and asked, "You had no appetite just now. How come you came back from the bathroom like a starving wolf?"
"I just emptied my stomach, okay?" Susan laughed.
She couldn't bring herself to talk about running into Esme. The fact that Seb had never touched another woman was beyond her expectations.
Isabella shook her head. "Wow, a bathroom break really turned your mood around!"
"Maybe the bathroom here is really nice. You should try it later if you don't believe me." Susan said.
Isabella frowned. "Forget it. How nice can a bathroom be? I just ate, and if you keep talking about the bathroom, I might throw up!"
"Okay, I won't talk about it." Susan quickly nodded.
At eight o'clock, Susan and Isabella left the Mexican restaurant.
Isabella clung to Susan, pleading, "Come watch a movie with me? I'll be so lonely by myself."
"Have Leon go with you." At that moment, Susan was thinking about Seb.
"If he had time, would I be asking you?" Isabella said.
"So you prioritize your boyfriend over me. Now I definitely won't go to the movies with you." Susan laughed.
Isabella tightly hugged Susan's arm and said, "You're watching a movie with me whether you like it or not!"
"Are you kidnapping me? Looks like I need to call Leon to rescue me." Susan said, amused.
Isabella raised an eyebrow and said, "Calling him is useless. He's too busy to care about me right now. I heard Seb's been in a bad mood lately, and Leon has to stay with him all the time."
Hearing this, Susan lowered her head, filled with worry for Seb.
Then, Isabella dragged Susan to the movies.
The movie was a romance, and Isabella, who was in love, was completely absorbed, sometimes wiping tears with a tissue, sometimes laughing out loud.
But Susan's eyes were blankly staring at the large screen.
At ten o'clock, the movie finally ended.
As they left the theater, Isabella was still immersed in the movie's plot.
"Susan, the male lead's love for the female lead was so touching. He was willing to give up everything for her, but he was too arrogant and self-righteous, causing so many misunderstandings!" Isabella said as they walked out.
Susan looked at the dark night, Leon's words echoing in her ears. He said Seb was getting drunk at the bar every night.
At this moment, Susan hailed a cab and said to Isabella, "Hurry home and be safe on the way!"
Looking at the cab, Isabella suggested, "Why don't you stay at my place tonight? I don't feel safe with you going home alone."
Susan politely declined, "The security in Maple Valley is pretty good. I'll call another cab. I need to change clothes tomorrow."
"Alright then." Isabella nodded and got into the cab.
Susan then hailed another cab.
"Miss, where to?" the cab driver asked, glancing at Susan.
Susan quickly took out her phone and said, "Let me ask my husband where he is. Hold on."
Susan said this on purpose because, as a single woman taking a cab late at night, she had to be cautious.
The phone rang twice before it was answered.
"Ms. Wilson?" Leon's voice came from the other end.
Susan heard the hint of joy in Leon's voice and urgently asked, "Where is he now?"
"Starlight Tavern," Leon quickly replied.
"Okay, I'll be there soon." With that, Susan hung up and told the driver the address.
Ten minutes later, Susan stood in front of the bar Leon had mentioned.
The bar was elegantly decorated, with dim lighting and a bustling crowd. Some people were already swaying, clearly here to drown their sorrows.
Leon was already waiting at the bar's entrance. Seeing Susan, he approached and said, "I knew you'd come."
Leon understood the entanglements between her and Seb over the years, so Susan didn't need to explain. She just forced a smile, though she was imagining Seb already drunk and swaying.
Sure enough, Leon looked inside the bar and said, "Mr. Anderson is already drunk. I tried to stop him, but he wouldn't leave. I had no choice but to stay here."
