Chapter 138 The Half-Month Agreement

Susan stormed off, and Seb quickly caught up, grabbing her arm.

"Susan!" Seb called out, frowning.

"Don't touch me." Susan stopped and yanked her arm away.

Seeing her upset, Seb pleaded, "Can you just hear me out?"

"Hugging and cuddling in the ward? Do you think I'm blind?" Susan snapped.

"It's not what you think," Seb insisted, stepping closer.

Susan stepped back, glaring. "Stay away from me!"

She crossed her arms and pouted, her anger clear on her face.

"Okay, I won't come closer. But please, listen. It's not what you think!" Seb stammered.

"Do my eyes deceive me? What else could it be?" Susan's eyes teared up.

She had hoped Seb could handle it, but seeing that scene made her think he still had feelings for Cynthia.

Seeing her hurt, Seb got more flustered. He stepped forward, then back, unsure what to do with his hands, his voice filled with frustration.

"Cynthia was unstable. She still thinks we can get back together, but I won't. She's a patient, and I couldn't be too harsh. I thought I was firm, but she jumped and hugged me. I wanted to push her away but was afraid she'd have another episode." Seb, usually so smooth, was at a loss for words.

Susan stared at him. She had seen and heard most of it from outside, just not his attempt to push Cynthia away.

Seb ran a hand through his hair, looking defeated. "Any explanation is pointless. It's my fault for not pushing her away. Please believe me, it won't happen again!"

Susan had never seen this side of Seb before. He was genuinely worried she wouldn't believe him.

Seb stopped explaining and made a promise. Someone like Seb, who never explained or made promises, was doing just that. It was almost unbelievable.

Seeing Seb so dejected and adorable, Susan burst into laughter.

Seb looked confused. "Why are you laughing?" he asked, slowly approaching.

Susan believed him now and didn't resist. "It's the first time I've seen you so helpless and anxious," she said, smiling up at him.

Seb finally breathed a sigh of relief and pulled her into his arms, gently caressing the back of her head. "I was so nervous. I was scared you wouldn't believe me and would ignore me forever!"

Susan felt a bit intoxicated by his words, the most heartfelt confession she'd ever heard from him.

She buried her head in his neck, savoring his scent. In seconds, all their misunderstandings and unhappiness vanished.

After a while, Susan lifted her head, grabbed his collar, and said seriously, "Seb, let's not see each other for the next two weeks."

"Didn't you say you weren't mad anymore?" Seb frowned.

"I'm not mad. I'm serious." Susan's tone was firm but calm.

"What do you mean?" Seb asked, puzzled.

Susan glanced at the hospital and said, "I don't want to get upset over Cynthia anymore. I'll give you two weeks to sort things out with her. After that, we can meet again without any burdens."

Seb's expression softened, and he reluctantly nodded. "Alright, I'll do as you say."

"If two weeks isn't enough, I can give you more time..." Susan began.

But Seb interrupted, "No need, two weeks is enough."

"Okay, then after two weeks, I don't want to hear or see anything about you and Cynthia anymore, not even a trace!" Susan said seriously. She never thought she'd speak to Seb like this.

"I promise you!" Seb nodded firmly.

"Then see you in two weeks." Susan hugged Seb once more, then turned to leave.

As she turned, Seb grabbed her wrist and spun her back into his arms.

Susan frowned, ready to push him away.

Seb's deep voice whispered in her ear, "You're too cruel. If we don't see each other for two weeks, won't we be lovesick?"

"We'll find out after two weeks, won't we?" Susan replied with a sly smile, then escaped his embrace and ran off with her purse.

"Be careful on the road!" Seb, in his black trench coat, watched her leave with a serious expression.

"Got it!" Susan waved her purse without looking back and quickly walked out of the hospital.

She was afraid she might change her mind and not want to leave Seb.

Susan knew she'd miss Seb terribly in those two weeks, but she had to stick to her decision. She needed to give Seb time to resolve things with Cynthia. As long as Cynthia's issue remained, she couldn't be at ease. She didn't want to be in an uncomfortable relationship or marriage anymore.

Susan wanted a unique love, to have Seb completely, regardless of whether he was exceptional or not. She couldn't share Seb with anyone, not even a little. She couldn't share Seb's love or Seb himself with anyone.

Although she knew these two weeks would be tough and she'd miss Seb a lot, she had to persevere!
