Chapter 212 Meeting Again
The black car sped out so fast that Susan's heart nearly jumped out of her chest.
When she saw it was a Bentley, her legs went weak; it looked just like Seb's car. She couldn't see the license plate, but her gut told her it was Seb's car.
This place was so remote that even seeing a regular car was rare, let alone a Bentley. Seb must have found her.
The car's back door opened, and Seb, in a black trench coat, stepped out. He had a cold, stern vibe that made Susan shiver even in the warm sunlight.
Seeing Seb, Susan's mind went blank, and her heart raced, especially when their eyes met. His gaze was intense, and he looked worn out, with stubble on his chin.
Without thinking, Susan turned to run. She was about to give birth and couldn't let Seb catch her.
She didn't know what Seb wanted, but it had to be about her baby. Did he want the baby?
The thought made her break out in a cold sweat.
No way! She couldn't lose this child. It was a part of her now. Losing it would be unbearable.
Seeing her try to escape, Seb quickly blocked her path.
Facing Seb, Susan took a couple of steps back, eyes wide with fear. She held her swollen belly, terrified.
Seb's gaze fell on her belly, making her heart race even more.
"If I'm not mistaken, you're eight months and one week pregnant, right?" Seb's voice was hoarse, his expression grim, sending chills down her spine.
Backing away, Susan asked, "Seb, what do you want?"
"You'll know soon enough." Seb stepped forward and scooped her up.
With her big belly, Susan didn't dare struggle too hard, fearing she might hurt the baby. She pounded Seb's shoulder and shouted, "Seb, put me down! What are you doing?"
Seb ignored her, his expression calm but with a furrowed brow.
At that moment, Susan saw Leon open the car's back door.
She knew Seb was going to take her away. She couldn't let that happen, so she shouted, "Help! Help!"
Seb remained unmoved, glancing at her and saying, "There are hardly any people around here. Even if there was an explosion, no one would come!"
Hearing this, Susan frowned. Seb was right; there were no residents or passersby around, and Saskia's house was a thousand feet away. Plus, Brenda and Saskia were taking their afternoon nap with the windows closed, so they wouldn't hear a thing.
The next moment, Seb placed Susan in the back seat and got in himself.
Susan wanted to resist, but Seb warned, "I wouldn't move too much. You might go into early labor, and there's no hospital nearby. Who knows what could happen?"
Hearing this, Susan stopped struggling. Her belly was over eight months along, and early labor could be disastrous.
Seeing her calm down, Seb instructed Leon, "Drive!"
Leon started the engine, and the car turned back the way it came.
The car drove smoothly and quickly. Looking out the window, Susan realized they were heading towards Maple Valley.
She withdrew her gaze, thinking, 'What is Seb up to? What does he want?'
’With Seb's resources, he could have found her long ago. Why wait so long?'
'Seb must have deliberately not come for her for months. But now he was here, taking her away. What did he want?' Susan couldn't figure it out.
Finally, she concluded that Seb was after her baby. She questioned, "Seb, tell me the truth. Do you want my baby?"
"You're overthinking it." Seb's face remained cold, and he only answered with those few words before falling silent.
Susan's chest filled with anger, and she asked, "Is it Cynthia who wants my baby?"
She remembered that when she was first pregnant, Cynthia had threatened her, saying she would raise Seb's child after marrying him. The thought gave Susan goosebumps. Cynthia saw her as a thorn in her side. If Cynthia raised the child, Susan would never see it again.
"Why do you have such strange thoughts?" Seb squinted at her.
Seb's gaze was intimidating, and Susan became unsettled. She couldn't help but shout, "Cynthia has severe asthma and can't have children, so you want to take mine. No way! I will never give my child to you!"
Annoyed, Seb said, "It's been a few months, and your imagination has grown. I can tell you, I'm not interested in your child!"
"Then what do you want?" Susan was stunned by his words.
Glancing at the anxious and uneasy Susan, Seb closed his eyes in exhaustion and told Leon, "Drive faster!"
Susan grew impatient. She pushed Seb's arm and demanded, "What do you want? Let me go! I want to go back!"
At first, Seb ignored her. But Susan's nagging wore him down, and he lost his patience, shouting, "Can you be quiet for a moment?"
Seb's loud voice startled Susan.
Maybe it was fear, or maybe she knew Seb's temper. If he didn't want to let her go, no amount of talking or fussing would help. So, Susan fell silent.
Half an hour later, the car entered Maple Valley and then turned into a large hospital.
Susan nervously asked, "Why did you bring me to the hospital?"
