Chapter 348 Under House Arrest
Seeing Susan all jittery, Kathy jumped in, "Ms. Wilson, chill. Mr. Anderson told them to drop all this stuff here."
Susan's face turned red with anger as she heard this. "Drop all this stuff here? Is he planning to use it all himself?"
Kathy was taken aback; she rarely saw Susan this mad and didn't know what to say.
Noticing Kathy's stunned look, Susan felt a pang of guilt. It wasn't Kathy's fault; she was just following Seb's orders.
Taking a deep breath, Susan softened her tone, "Sorry, Kathy. I didn't mean to snap at you."
"I get it, Ms. Wilson. But Mr. Anderson's just looking out for you. He likes you, that's why he did this. Don't be too hard on him," Kathy said gently.
Susan thought to herself, 'Rich guys like Seb always pull the same moves—designer bags, bling, fancy houses, cars, and diamond rings.' But none of that was what she wanted.
Turning to Kathy, Susan said, "Kathy, I'm heading out to grab something."
Kathy looked worried. "Ms. Wilson, if you need anything, I can get it for you. Please, don't go out!"
Susan, getting frustrated, asked, "Did Seb tell you to keep an eye on me and not let me leave?"
Since Hayden's preschool was within the community, it didn't count as going out. But now, Seb wouldn't even let her step outside. She knew he was worried about her safety, but it felt like she was under house arrest.
"It's not that you can't go out, but you can't go out alone. If you need to go, I'll call a driver!" Kathy insisted, frowning.
"No need," Susan snapped and stormed out.
Susan headed straight to the nearest department store. Maybe because she was pissed, she went on a shopping spree.
She bought underwear, clothes, shoes, bags, pajamas, and cosmetics. They weren't big-name brands, but they were high-quality, a far cry from her usual penny-pinching ways.
Women tend to splurge when they're mad, and it seemed like spending money could vent their anger. Susan used to laugh at others for this, but today she found herself doing the same.
Her anger faded, but when she saw the bank notifications on her phone, her heart sank. She had blown thousands of dollars!
She silently vowed never to let money slip through her fingers like that again.
Loaded with seven or eight shopping bags, Susan felt uneasy as she left the store. It seemed like someone was tailing her.
Could it be that people from Skyreach Group had tracked her down? The thought made her legs feel like jelly. Those underworld types were nuts and they could do anything.
Without wasting a second, Susan flagged down a taxi and hopped in.
Sitting in the cab, she glanced back and saw a silver car that had been shadowing her through several turns.
Fear gripped her. Those people probably hadn't made their move yet. If she hadn't noticed them in time, she couldn't imagine what could've happened.
Susan had thought Seb was just being paranoid, but now she realized he had a point. Her resentment towards him started to fade.
As the taxi neared the villa, Susan noticed the car was still tailing her. For safety, she called Kathy to open the villa gate. Once out of the taxi, she dashed inside.
Panicked, Susan ran upstairs, dropped her bags, and peeked out the window. The car was still parked across the street, not budging an inch.
Susan frowned. 'These underworld folks are bold as brass. Are they planning to keep tabs on me 24/7?' she thought.
That evening, Susan was too scared to pick up Hayden herself and asked Mary to do it. She kept an eye on Spring, knowing those people were after her and not wanting to involve the kids.
But from the window, she saw Mary greeting with the people in the car.
Susan was baffled. Why would Mary know those folks? Something was fishy.
With questions swirling in her mind, Susan went downstairs holding Spring.
Meanwhile, Kathy was busy cooking in the kitchen.
Holding Spring, Susan walked over and asked with a smile, "Kathy, there's been a car parked across the street all day. Do you know them?"
"Yeah, they're from Mr. Anderson's company." As soon as Kathy said this, Susan's face fell!
They were from Prosperity Group, meaning those two weren't from Skyreach Group but were sent by Seb to tail her?
Thinking of this, Susan was fuming.
What was Seb trying to pull? If he couldn't lock her up, he'd send people to follow her? She'd been scared all day for nothing!
Seeing Susan's face change, Kathy realized she had slipped up and quickly explained, "Ms. Wilson, Mr. Anderson did this to prevent any accidents. Those two are here to protect you."
"Is this protecting me or restricting my freedom?" Susan knew it wasn't Kathy's fault, so she said lightly and went upstairs with Spring.
That night, Seb came back late, reeking of booze.
As soon as Seb walked in, Susan caught a whiff of the strong alcohol smell.
Susan was particularly disgusted. Seb went out drinking every day, and it was always with women.
In the dim hallway light, Seb suddenly saw Susan standing at the end of the hallway and stopped in his tracks. He had drunk too much and steadied himself by holding onto the wall.
Seeing Seb like this, Susan held back her anger and stepped forward to confront him, "Seb, tell your goons not to follow me tomorrow!"
Hearing this, Seb touched his face, looking very uncomfortable.
"Did you hear me?" Susan raised her voice when Seb didn't respond.
Seeing Susan's angry face, Seb's voice was tired and helpless. "I've been busy outside all day. Can't you cut me some slack?"
Susan pressed her lips together. Although she knew her attitude was bad, she still stubbornly said, "Busy? Mr. Anderson, you were busy spending the whole night with some hottie, right?"
