Chapter 1282 There's Nothing Wrong with Her Body, Right?
That evening, Cecilia stepped out of the bathroom and sat down at her vanity.
Daryl, lounging at the head of the bed, noticed Cecilia's downcast expression in the mirror and furrowed his brow.
Putting down his magazine, Daryl walked over to the vanity, placed his hands on Cecilia's shoulders, and asked with concern, "Hey, what's up?"
Seeing Daryl's worried face in the mirror, Cecilia couldn't help but respond with a frown, "No luck again this month. My period just started."
Daryl's brow furrowed slightly before he smiled and tried to comfort her, "Didn't I say we shouldn't stress about having a baby? You're so wound up every day, it's no wonder it's tough. Take easy. Let's just let it happen when it happens."
Despite Daryl's reassurance, Cecilia frowned and said, "You might not be in a hurry, but Mom is. She's getting more and more impatient."
"It's our decision to have a baby, not hers. You don't need to feel pressured. I'll talk to her," Daryl replied.
Cecilia sighed, "You've talked to her more than once, but has it helped? If I don't get pregnant, her attitude won't change."
Seeing Cecilia's distressed expression, Daryl paused before saying, "If Mom keeps giving you a hard time, we'll move out."
Cecilia turned to Daryl in surprise, "We can't do that! Dad and Mom would be furious!"
Cecilia never expected Daryl to suggest such a thing. She knew he was doing it for her.
The Fields family was very traditional, almost feudal in their modern-day household. Family values were deeply ingrained, and if Isaac and Azalea found out Daryl wanted to move out, they would be livid.
Although Cecilia longed for a life with just Daryl, she never dared to think about moving out. She didn't want to cause any conflict between Daryl and his parents because of her.
Daryl gently held Cecilia's chin, looking at her seriously, "If you keep being unhappy, I'll take you and move out."
Cecilia felt a warm sensation in her heart as she met Daryl's serious gaze. She hadn't expected him to consider such a thing, all for her sake.
Since he was so thoughtful, Cecilia felt she couldn't let him worry too much or cause any conflict with his parents.
So, Cecilia smiled and said, "No, let's just focus on getting pregnant and solve the problem."
She wrapped her arms around Daryl's waist and rested her face against his belly.
Daryl frowned, gently stroking Cecilia's back, his expression complicated.
"We've been married for over six months, and we've been trying so hard. Why haven't we had any news? Do you think there's something wrong with me?" Cecilia asked, lifting her face in frustration.
Daryl paused before quickly responding, "You're young and healthy. There's nothing wrong with you. Besides, you were pregnant before."
"That's true," Cecilia nodded.
"So let's take it slow," Daryl said, feeling relieved.
Cecilia had suffered uterine damage during her last pregnancy, and the doctor had said it would be difficult for her to conceive again. Daryl had kept this from her, fearing she wouldn't be able to handle the truth.
With his mother constantly pressuring them, Daryl had considered the worst-case scenario: moving out with Cecilia if necessary.
A few days later, one morning after Cecilia had dropped Daryl off at work.
Azalea, sitting on the couch, looked at Cecilia and said, "Change your clothes. We're going out."
"Where are we going, Mom? I haven't washed Daryl's clothes yet," Cecilia replied.
Azalea didn't even look up, "You'll find out when we get there. Let the servants handle the laundry today."
"Okay," Cecilia nodded and quickly went upstairs to change.
Ten minutes later, Cecilia came downstairs in a light blue dress.
Azalea was already waiting in the car.
Cecilia sat beside Azalea, not daring to speak, her eyes fixed on the scenery outside the window.
Soon, the car made a few turns and stopped in front of an obstetrics and gynecology hospital.
Cecilia frowned, "Mom, why are we here?"
Azalea finally spoke, "It's been over six months, and there's been no sign of a baby. I'm worried, so I brought you here for a thorough check-up. If there's a problem, we need to treat it quickly."
Cecilia nodded, "Okay."
Cecilia didn't feel anything was wrong, but she had started to wonder if there was a problem since she hadn't conceived despite being in good health.
Since Azalea had brought her for a check-up, it was best to get a thorough examination. If there was an issue, it needed to be addressed promptly.
Cecilia followed Azalea out of the car and into the hospital.
This hospital was the best in Maple Valley, not very large but highly specialized. The facilities and doctors were top-notch.
When they reached the doctor's office, Cecilia realized Azalea had made an appointment in advance, and it was a VIP appointment, meaning the renowned doctor would only see her that morning.
Cecilia was led by a nurse for various tests, and the results quickly reached the doctor's hands.
Azalea sat at the doctor's desk, anxiously asking, "Doctor, is there anything wrong with her? Why hasn't she gotten pregnant after over six months of marriage?"
The doctor, a man in his forties, glanced at the test results and then at Cecilia, seeming hesitant to speak.
Azalea frowned, "Doctor, just tell us the truth. I paid a lot to get real results!"
