Chapter 786 Alienation
After more than two hours of skiing, Susan felt sore all over.
That night, she kept pleading until Seb agreed not to touch her.
But by dawn, Seb still woke her up.
Susan was sleeping soundly and wanted to refuse, but it was too late; he had already made love to her forcefully.
After the ordeal, Susan didn't get up in the morning and only woke up close to noon.
The two of them had lunch before heading back to the city. In the afternoon, they spent time with Hayden and Spring, enjoying a happy family time.
That night, Susan was sleeping soundly but was awakened by a loud shout!
As soon as Susan opened her eyes, she saw Seb sitting up, drenched in cold sweat.
Seeing this, Susan quickly sat up and grabbed a tissue to wipe the sweat from his forehead and chest.
"What's wrong?" Susan asked worriedly.
"Nothing, just a dream." After a while, Seb took the tissue from Susan's hand, wiping his sweat as he answered.
"A nightmare?" Susan's eyes were fixed on Seb.
She had been with him for so many years, and he had never been like this before, so Susan was very worried.
"Yeah." Seb nodded, his attitude not as warm as before, seeming a bit distant.
"What kind of nightmare was it? Was it so scary?" Susan pressed.
Seb glanced at Susan, his eyes flickering, and said vaguely, "I don't remember too clearly."
"I'll get you some water," Susan said, lifting the blanket to get out of bed.
"No need, I can't sleep anyway. I'll go to the study to look at some files." With that, Seb got out of bed and started dressing.
Seeing that he didn't look well, Susan said worriedly, "It's not even dawn yet. What files are you looking at? How about I keep you company for a while, or we watch some TV?"
"Go back to sleep, don't worry about me," Seb said without looking at Susan, then turned and left the bedroom.
Susan thought he probably hadn't recovered from the nightmare, so she didn't pay much attention. She went back to bed and closed her eyes.
In the morning, Susan woke up to find it was already past seven.
Looking around, she saw she was alone in the bedroom.
Susan quickly dressed and went to the study, but it was empty.
She then went downstairs, where Hayden and Spring had just woken up, Kathy was making breakfast, and Mary was cleaning.
After looking around and not seeing Seb, Susan frowned and asked Mary, "Have you seen Seb?"
"Ms. Wilson, didn't you know? Mr. Anderson went out early, said he had an appointment with a friend." Mary replied.
Hearing this, Susan smiled. "Oh, I was still asleep earlier; he probably didn't want to wake me."
"Yes, Mr. Anderson is always so considerate of you." Mary smiled and went back to her work.
It was already afternoon, and Seb still hadn't come back.
Feeling uneasy, Susan called him.
When the call connected, Seb's deep voice came through. "Hello?"
"Seb, why aren't you back yet?" Susan asked with a smile.
Seb hesitated before saying, "I'm out with some friends, won't be back for dinner. Don't wait for me."
Hearing this, Susan frowned. "Not coming back for dinner?"
Since coming to Northstar City, he occasionally went out with friends, but at most, he would have a meal outside and come back. Why was he staying out all day this time?
Susan felt a bit unhappy. After all, they came to Northstar City to reunite with Hayden and Spring, and she had a feeling they wouldn't stay in Northstar City for long. January was almost over, and he hadn't worked for a whole month.
Seb hesitated before saying, "Just hanging out with friends. I won't talk long; take care of Hayden and Spring."
Before Susan could respond, Seb hung up.
Without Seb, Susan felt life was dull. She ate and played with Hayden and Spring absentmindedly, always in a distracted state.
That night, the wind howled outside, but the house was warm and cozy.
Susan lay on the large bed under the dim wall lamp, staring at the clock on the wall, waiting for Seb to come back.
But even by midnight, Seb hadn't returned.
Susan thought about calling but decided against it, thinking Seb might be having fun with his friends.
As she waited, she eventually closed her eyes, leaning against the headboard.
She didn't know how long she had slept when she was suddenly awakened by faint footsteps!
Opening her eyes, she saw the clock on the wall pointing to two o'clock.
Susan couldn't help but frown.
Then, the door was gently pushed open, and a tall figure staggered in.
Seeing he was drunk, Susan jumped out of bed barefoot and ran over.
"Why are you back so late?" Susan complained as she took Seb's coat and hung it on the rack.
"Just having fun with some friends," Seb said, pulling off his tie and lying on the bed.
Seeing him go straight to bed, Susan hurried over, grabbed his hand, and urged, "Go wash up, you smell awful!"
"I'm sleeping." Seb ignored Susan's words, pulled his hand back, and turned over, closing his eyes.
"Don't sleep yet, get up and brush your teeth and wash your feet!" Susan pushed his shoulder.
But Seb seemed already asleep, completely unresponsive.
In the end, Susan had no choice but to give in.
He was too heavy. After taking off his shoes, socks, shirt, and pants, Susan was sweating.
But at least he was back. Susan turned off the light and lay beside him, closing her eyes.
Maybe because she slept too late last night, when Susan opened her eyes, it was already ten in the morning.
Turning her head, she saw the pillow beside her was empty.
Susan dressed and ran downstairs, but Seb was nowhere to be seen.
This time, Mary told Susan again that Seb had gone out early.
Susan was about to lose it. He went out again?
She waited all day, calling him several times. He either didn't answer or answered briefly, saying he had a project to discuss with friends.
However, that night, Seb came back earlier, around nine o'clock.
After putting Hayden and Spring to bed, Susan brought a bowl of soup to Seb's study.
Seeing Seb looking at his computer, Susan smiled and said, "You haven't rested well these past few days. I made you some cream of mushroom soup, have some."
