Chapter 91 Taking Advantage of the Situation

Six months later...

Summer was back, hotter than ever.

After half a year of hard work, Susan not only passed her probation but also earned George's trust. She was doing great at George and Vivian Law Firm.

With a good salary, Susan rented a studio near the office,  to reduce her commute. She still chased her dream, studying for the CPA exam in her free time.

Even though her place and the office were close to the Prosperity Group building, she never ran into Seb, which was a relief.

A few times, she spotted his black Bentley speeding by, making her heart race. Sometimes, she'd glance at the Prosperity Group building but quickly look away.

Susan knew she had to forget the past, but for now, she just locked it away. It would take time, but at least she was moving forward, and that was what mattered.

One morning, while reviewing last month's accounts, her phone rang.

George's voice came through. "Susan, there's a guest in my office. Can you make some coffee? I'm stuck in traffic and will be back in twenty minutes."

"Sure," Susan replied, heading to the break room to make the coffee.

Usually, Zoe handled guests, but she was now George's executive secretary and swamped with work. As the finance manager, Susan was busiest at the end and start of each month, so George often had her help with guest reception. She did whatever was needed.

Five minutes later, Susan walked into George's office with a cup of coffee.

She saw someone in a white shirt by the window and smiled, placing the cup on the table.

"Mr. Anderson called; he'll be back in ten minutes. I made some coffee for you..."

Before she could finish, the person turned around.

Seeing Seb's stern face, her smile froze, and her words stuck in her throat.

Seb looked surprised but quickly composed himself.

Susan felt a rush of panic but told herself to stay calm.

She had imagined running into Seb many times but never like this. She had to act like nothing happened, not letting him look down on her.

With a standard smile, she said, "Mr. Anderson, long time no see!"

Seb noticed her initial panic and felt a bit pleased. But her formal tone quickly annoyed him.

"Yeah, it's been a while, over six months, right?" Seb said, his tone ambiguous.

Susan didn't want to chat. She smiled and pointed to the coffee. "Enjoy the coffee. Mr. Anderson will be here soon!"

She turned to leave, but Seb stepped in front of her.

Her heart skipped a beat. She instinctively stepped back, but her high heels wobbled, and she lost her balance, letting out a small cry.

Seb quickly caught her, wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her close.

Susan grabbed his shirt collar to steady herself, feeling flustered. She could smell his scent and feel the warmth of his hand on her waist. The room was air-conditioned, but the heat between them was palpable.

Hearing Seb's heavy breathing, Susan quickly pushed him away.

She straightened her clothes, her face burning with embarrassment.

Seb reached out, and Susan's mind went blank. What was he doing?

Before she could react, Seb pinched the name tag on her chest.

"Finance Manager?" he read softly, his voice magnetic.

Susan cringed. She'd totally misread the situation. Seb should be married to Cynthia by now. How could she think he was still interested in her?

With that thought, she calmed down, her emotions cooling.

"Yes, I look forward to your guidance, Mr. Anderson," she said politely.

Her words broke the tension, and Seb's face turned stern again.

"Looks like you're doing well," Seb said with a hint of sarcasm.

Susan raised an eyebrow. "Yes, very well."

"Are you with Henry Thompson?" Seb asked, sensing her hostility.

Susan was surprised by the question. Her competitive nature kicked in, and she raised her chin. "Yes, we're very much in love, perfectly in sync, and inseparable."

Her words angered Seb whostepped forward, wrapped his arm around her waist, pinned her hands behind her back, and kissed her.

Susan wanted to curse but couldn't speak.

Her resistance only fueled Seb's anger. She struggled, kicking his legs with her high heels, but he didn't budge.

Minutes later, exhausted and breathless, Susan gave inand Seb took advantage, deepening the kiss.
