Chapter 1002 Jealousy

After Susan had a good chat with Isabella, Isabella's mood lifted, and she started to see things more clearly.

That afternoon, Isabella couldn't resist texting Leon.

Isabella: [You coming home for dinner tonight?]

She wasn't sure if Leon would even see the message. He had a ton of meetings and important stuff going on, so sometimes he left his phone with his assistant, Royce.

About an hour later, just when Isabella thought Leon had definitely missed her message, her phone buzzed.

She grabbed her phone and saw it was from Leon's number, making her instantly happy.

Leon: [I'll be home, but I might be a bit late.]

Seeing his message, Isabella smiled and quickly replied: [I'll wait for you for dinner.]

After that, it was radio silence from Leon. But Isabella was sure he saw her message.

She quickly made a grocery list and asked Kathy to pick up the ingredients. Isabella wanted to cook dinner herself tonight, even though her cooking skills were pretty average.

After hustling in the kitchen for over two hours, by seven o'clock, Isabella finally had four dishes and a soup ready on the dining table.

Just then, she heard the door open.

Kathy smiled and said, "That should be Mr. Johnson. I'll go check."

As Kathy left, Isabella suddenly felt a bit nervous. She quickly tidied her hair and smoothed her dress.

She had changed into a light purple fitted dress, put on a pair of pearl earrings, and wore the gemstone bracelet Leon had given her a few days ago, hoping he'd like the look.

Soon, Isabella heard Leon's footsteps.

She quickly set the utensils on the dining table.

Leon handed his briefcase and suit to Kathy, then walked into the dining room.

When he saw Isabella setting the table, he stood there for a moment, feeling a bit awkward, not sure whether to sit down or help.

Isabella's heart was pounding too.

Even though they lived together, they hadn't seen each other for over a week, and it felt like they had grown distant.

As the atmosphere in the dining room got a bit tense, Leon glanced at the dishes on the table, then smiled and said, "You really cooked all this?"

"Yeah, why?" Isabella finally looked up and asked.

Leon suddenly smiled and started critiquing the dishes. "These Teriyaki Wings were taken out too late and got a bit burnt; the Sweet and Sour Ribs had the sauce added too late, so the color is too light; the salad's overdressed; the Stir-Fried Broccoli looks okay, barely passable; the Creamy Mushroom Soup is too greasy from too much butter."

Hearing that only one dish was barely passable, Isabella glared at Leon fiercely.

Seeing this, Leon immediately smiled and said, "But it's just right for my taste. I like it."

Hearing this, Isabella's anger melted into a smile, but she still snapped, "Go wash your hands, the food's getting cold!"

"Okay." Seeing Isabella's smile, Leon finally relaxed and headed to the bathroom to wash up.

Watching him walk away, Isabella couldn't help but smile. It felt like old times.

Leon came back from washing his hands, and Isabella set the utensils in front of him.

Leon picked them up and started eating. "I've been in meetings all day, I'm starving!"

Seeing him dig in, Isabella smiled a bit.

Halfway through the meal, Leon looked up and noticed Isabella just sitting there, watching him eat, without any utensils in front of her.

Leon frowned. "Why aren't you eating? Don't tell me you think your cooking is bad?"

Isabella straightened up and asked, "Do you notice anything different about me?"

Leon looked her over and shrugged. "I don't see anything."

Isabella rolled her eyes. "I knew you didn't care. You can't even notice such a big change."

Leon was puzzled. He put down his utensils and looked at her again, still clueless. "I haven't seen this dress before, and those earrings look new. Did you just get them?"

"Who told you to look at that? I've lost five pounds, didn't you notice?" Isabella stood up and twirled, lifting her dress a bit.

Leon frowned. "Are you on a diet?"

"I knew you didn't care. We live together, and you know nothing about me." Isabella pouted, feeling sad.

Leon got up, walked over to her, and held her shoulders. "It's you who ignored me."

"Why don't you talk to me first?" Isabella said, still discontented.

"There were mornings I went to your room, and you pretended to be asleep. Don't think I didn't know." Leon smiled and smoothed her hair.

"How did you know I was pretending?" Isabella asked, surprised.

"Your sleeping posture is too ugly. When I saw you lying so still, I knew you were faking it." Leon laughed.

"Stop it! What do you mean?" Isabella gave him a light punch.

But Leon wrapped his arms around her and held her tight.

"Not mad anymore?" Leon whispered in her ear.

Isabella rolled her eyes and pouted. "Should I even get mad at you again? Someone might take advantage if I do."

"No one in this world has that chance." Leon smiled at her.

Her jealous and cute look was especially adorable, and his eyes were filled with her.

"That's not necessarily true. She said you grew up together and is determined to win you over!" Isabella said, her tone dripping with jealousy.

Hearing this, Leon cupped her face and kissed her deeply, twice.
