Chapter 802 The Two-Year Agreement

As she started talking, Susan couldn't help but think about all the crap she'd been through the past few days, and tears began to roll down her cheeks.

Seeing her so upset, Seb's heart melted. He pulled her close, trying to comfort her. "Hey, come on, you're a big girl now. No more tears. It's all my fault, okay?"

"Then tell me, what did you do wrong?" Susan asked, trying to hold back her sobs.

"I..." Seb was caught off guard and didn't know what to say.

Seeing his blank look, Susan scolded him, "You're just saying that to make me feel better. You don't even know what you did wrong!"

"I know," Seb tried to reassure her.

"Then tell me, what did you do wrong?" Susan demanded, not letting up.

Seb's eyes lit up as he quickly rattled off, "First, I shouldn't have argued with you in front of other people. Second, I shouldn't have smashed the plates. Third, I shouldn't have stormed out of home. Fourth, I shouldn't have stayed away for days. Fifth, I shouldn't have yelled at you when I saw you just now. And sixth, I shouldn't have tricked you into bed just now."

He ended with a cheeky grin.

At first, Susan felt relieved, thinking he really understood his mistakes. But when she heard the last part, her face turned red, and she playfully smacked him. "You're so annoying! Who told you to say that?"

"I was worried if I missed one, you'd never let it go," Seb said, pretending to be innocent.

"Get away!" Susan glared at him.

Seb looked at her lovingly and said softly, "Do you know you look really beautiful when you say 'get away'?"

When she looked up, she saw the mischievous glint in his eyes.

Susan quickly pointed a finger at him and said, "No more joking around!"

"Alright, I'll be serious." Seb wiped the smile off his face and put on a serious expression.

Seeing this, Susan couldn't help but smile.

Seeing her smile, Seb couldn't resist touching her lips with his fingertip.

Suddenly, Susan remembered his stomach problem and quickly asked, "By the way, didn't you have a stomachache? Where's your medicine? Did you take it?"

Seeing her worried look, Seb smiled and said, "Who told you I had a stomachache?"

"Kathy," Susan replied, looking confused.

Seb chuckled and said, "I think Kathy's getting old and hard of hearing. I asked her to bring some stomach medicine, but I never said I had a stomachache."

Susan started to understand.

No wonder he seemed perfectly fine. Not only was he fine, but he was also quite energetic during sex just now. It turned out Kathy had misheard; he wasn't having a stomachache.

Seb laughed and said, "It was Hugo who had a stomachache, so I gave him some of my medicine to see if it would help. If it works, I'll ask my doctor for a prescription and send some to him when I head back home."

Hearing this, Susan glared at Seb. "Why didn't you make it clear? Don't you know Kathy's old and hard of hearing? You made me worry for nothing and come all this way. I almost froze to death just now!"

Hearing Susan's complaint, Seb couldn't help but feel pleased. He wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her tight, and planted a big kiss on her cheek. "I knew you cared about me!"

"I shouldn't have brought you the medicine!" Susan playfully pinched his nose.

"I bet if it happens again, you'll still bring me the medicine," Seb said confidently.

"You're that sure?" Susan looked at him, half-annoyed, half-amused.

He was right, though. If it happened again, she would still do the same.

"Absolutely. I'm the most important person in your heart!" Seb said, looking at her with a serious expression.

Susan didn't deny it. Instead, she rested her head on his shoulder, silently acknowledging it.

They leaned into each other, the snowlight outside casting a soft glow on them.

Susan didn't want to break this beautiful moment, but some things had to be addressed. They couldn't stay in Northstar City forever; eventually, they'd have to go back to Maple Valley.

Just as she was about to speak, Seb beat her to it. "Are you going to bring up that two-year agreement?"

He knew her so well; he could read her mind.

Susan looked up at his handsome face and slowly said, "Seb, it's because you're the most important person in my heart that I don't want you to be unhappy or to be with me out of guilt."

Seeing her pained expression, Seb touched her face and stared at her for a long moment before saying, "But you should know, without you, I won't be happy either."

Susan frowned and lowered her eyes, sadly saying, "That's the problem; we can't have it both ways."

Seeing her so upset, Seb sighed deeply and then spoke with difficulty, "If this is what you want, I'll agree to your two-year agreement."

Susan looked up at him in surprise.

She didn't understand why he suddenly agreed.

Seeing her puzzled look, Seb explained, "I've been thinking a lot these past few days. I just didn't want to face it and kept avoiding it because whenever I thought about being without you for a long time, it made me really sad and anxious."

Hearing this, Susan hugged Seb tightly.

She felt the same way. But she knew Seb's reluctance to face this issue had another reason; he didn't want to let her down or hurt her.

Susan also knew that if this issue wasn't resolved, he would feel guilty for the rest of his life and never be able to let it go. She wanted to help him, but she wasn't sure if she could.

She wanted him to live without guilt so they could be happy. However, she didn't know if being apart for two years would bring other changes.

Although Susan was very confident in her relationship with Seb, she still felt a bit uncertain.

She thought that their two-year separation, enduring the pain of longing, would be a way to compensate for Carol and a form of self-punishment.

Susan hoped that after two years, Seb could completely let go of his guilt, and by then, their family of four would be reunited.
