Chapter 1359 The Taste of Quarreling is Unpleasant
"Alright, I was wrong, okay?" Isabella's voice rose, catching the frustration in Leon's tone.
"That's more like it," Leon finally replied.
Isabella couldn't help but vent, "Even though I wrongfully blamed you, you were the one who started this whole mess. Who told you to suddenly hire a female secretary, and one with ulterior motives at that? You brought this on yourself!"
Leon couldn't hold back and started arguing with Isabella again. "First off, I knew about hiring a secretary, but I didn't know they picked a woman. Secondly, I had no idea she had ulterior motives. Lastly, I never responded to any of her advances."
"Even if you didn't respond, you didn't take any action to transfer or fire her either. As a result, we've been giving each other the cold shoulder for so long, and our younger son even got sick!" Isabella argued, knowing she was being a bit unreasonable, but she wasn't about to back down in a fight.
"I wanted to fire her, but you kept making a fuss, and I got so angry that I didn't do it in time. And look where that got us," Leon admitted, feeling a bit guilty.
Isabella's anger began to dissipate as she heard this.
"Susan said it's because we don't trust each other that things turned out this way."
"It's you who doesn't trust me, isn't it?" Leon glanced at Isabella.
"Do you trust me? I went to the office and made a scene, but you didn't even ask why. That secretary provoked me. Do you know how arrogant she was? Do you know how nasty her words were? You know my temper. Once I'm provoked, I act without thinking. And that day, you didn't even give me a kind look," Isabella's eyes welled up with tears as she spoke.
As Leon saw this, his heart softened. He stepped forward and pulled Isabella into his arms, gently stroking her back. "Alright, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have let you suffer. I've already fired that secretary to make it up to you."
Lying in Leon's arms, Isabella huffed. "You say that, but you gave her such a big severance package. She didn't lose out at all!"
Leon smirked. "I fired her, didn't let her resign. I'd rather pay her a year's salary to leave a mark on her resume. It won't be easy for her to find a good job after this. People with bad character need to be taught a lesson."
Hearing this, Isabella couldn't help but smile. "I didn't know you could be so devious."
"I think I was fair. Besides, who told her to mess with my wife?" Leon laughed.
Isabella's anger finally subsided, and she felt much better.
"By the way, go get my discharge papers. I want to go home and see our sons. I miss them so much. You have no idea how much I've been thinking about them these past few days," Isabella said, tugging on Leon's arm.
But Leon frowned. "No, the doctor said you need to stay for observation for two more days. You can go home once they confirm you're okay."
"I know my own body. I just missed the kids so much that I didn't eat or sleep well. Plus, our younger son was in the hospital for two days. I'm just a bit tired. I'll be fine if I rest at home," Isabella pleaded, clinging to Leon's arm.
Leon, unable to resist, finally nodded. "Alright, but once we're home, you need to eat well, drink well, and rest well. If you feel unwell, we'll come back immediately."
"Okay, I'll listen to you," Isabella said cheerfully, hearing Leon agree to her discharge.
Leon then arranged for Isabella's discharge papers, and the two left the hospital, looking as affectionate as if they had never fought.
Back home, Isabella hugged her sons, showering them with kisses.
The two boys clung to Isabella, not wanting to let go. The household staff, seeing the family reunited and happy, finally relaxed. The atmosphere had been tense for days.
That evening, after putting both boys to bed, Isabella dragged her tired body back to the master bedroom.
As soon as she walked in, a shadow moved, and someone wrapped their arms around her waist from behind.
Feeling the warm, broad embrace, Isabella couldn't help but smile. She placed her hands on the large hands around her waist and softly said, "What are you doing?"
Leon kissed her neck and whispered in a husky voice, "They say absence makes the heart grow fonder. I want to experience that."
Hearing this, Isabella frowned. "Didn't you say I should rest at home? I'm really weak right now. Don't touch me!"
With that, Isabella tried to break free and run.
But Leon quickly stepped forward and pulled her back into his arms.
"I saw you put away two full servings of rice and nearly an entire steak tonight. You don't look weak to me. You seem pretty strong!" Leon laughed, looking down at her.
"I'm really tired. I just put our two sons to bed," Isabella pouted.
Leon heard this and began massaging Isabella's shoulders. "Then let me give you a massage."
Isabella stretched her neck and closed her eyes. "That feels so good."
Leon gave her a mischievous look, and his hands started to wander.
Isabella squirmed. "What are you doing? That tickles!"
"I'm giving you a full-body massage," Leon's deep voice whispered in her ear.
"Stop it," Isabella murmured, her voice fading into the quiet night.
Much later, as the night deepened outside, the two of them lay close together, whispering softly.
"How does it feel to have absence make the heart grow fonder?" Isabella asked, her hand on his firm chest.
Leon smiled contentedly. "It feels amazing."
"You're so annoying!" Isabella blushed and playfully slapped him.
Leon suddenly tightened his arms around her, holding her close. "Let's not fight anymore. It feels awful. Without you, the house doesn't feel like home."
Isabella heard this and tears welled up in her eyes. "I'll work on my temper too. I won't be impulsive anymore. I missed you so much those days."
Isabella hugged him tightly, and his arms unconsciously tightened around her.
