Chapter 203 She Brought It Upon Herself

Amid Serenity's nagging, Susan went back to her room.

Sitting on her soft bed, she felt a mix of emotions.

She never wanted to bother George, but she kept doing it. She didn't expect him to wake up early every day just to get fresh meat and veggies for her. He was always so busy with work, leaving early and coming back late so he must be exhausted.

But Susan knew that even if she complained, George would just smile and keep doing it.

So, she decided to eat and sleep on time every day, taking care of her health. Only then would he feel okay letting her go.

Susan felt a bit bitter. If only Seb treated her like this, they could be a happy family of three.

'Why am I thinking about him?' she wondered.

Thinking about Seb always made her feel bad, so she told herself to stop.

In the following days, Susan was very obedient, eating well, sleeping well, and her complexion improved.

She did this to ease George's worries, not wanting to trouble him anymore. One weekend afternoon, George came back early, dressed casually and drenched in sweat.

"Why are you back so early?" Susan asked, surprised.

George's work was so busy he often couldn't rest on weekends. Overtime was normal for him.

George sat on the sofa, looking tired but smiling. "I played golf with Ethan. It's been a while since I exercised, I'm beat!"

"Ethan?" Susan didn't know him.

George smiled and explained, "Mr. Robinson."

Susan smiled, remembering the rich guy she saw with Amelia at the café. He was handsome and wealthy. No wonder Amelia acted like she hit the jackpot.

Susan went to the kitchen, poured a cup of tonic, and brought it to George with a smile. "Have some tonic."

George quickly took it, laughed, and said, "I can't waste such a nutritious thing!"

He tilted his head back and drank it all.

"It's really good, give me another cup!" George said, wiping his mouth.

Susan smiled and explained, "You can't drink too much of this. I'll give you another cup tomorrow."

"Is that so? Okay." George nodded, feeling great.

He had been in a good mood lately because he saw Susan every day, and she had been particularly caring, often making soup for him. It showed she was starting to care about him.

Then, George patted the spot next to him.

Susan frowned, unsure what he wanted, but then sat on the sofa.

George said, "Today Ethan invited me to play golf and catch up. Guess what? Your enemy Amelia was there too."

Susan replied, "That's not surprising. With a rich guy like Ethan, Amelia would naturally stick to him like glue."

"I wanted to talk to Ethan about Amelia. He's my friend, and I don't want him ending up with someone like her. But there was no chance; Amelia sticks to him like glue. Even I, a guy, couldn't get close!" George complained.

Susan couldn't help but laugh at the last part.

Seeing her laugh, George joined in.

"So, what were you planning to tell Ethan? Spill all of Amelia's past?" Susan asked.

George touched his nose. "That was the plan, but seeing how lovey-dovey they were, I changed my mind."

"Afraid Ethan wouldn't believe you and you'd lose a friend?" Susan guessed, frowning.

George shook his head. "No, Ethan can tell right from wrong. Even if he didn't believe me, he wouldn't stop being friends. Plus, what I say is true. If he checks, he'll find out."

"Then why?" Susan asked, puzzled.

George stood up and paced. "Ethan's a proud guy. If I tell him his girlfriend's promiscuous, he'd feel humiliated. So, I can't say it. Besides, he's in the honeymoon phase with Amelia. Let him enjoy it for now. He's spent a lot on her; we can't let him lose too much. And Amelia deserves a lesson. Let her enjoy it first, then return to her ordinary life. That would be satisfying, right?"

Susan couldn't help but say, "Mr. Anderson, I didn't expect you to have such a dark side. I guess I shouldn't offend you, or I'd be doomed!"

"I'm just being fair. Doesn't Amelia deserve punishment?" George spread his hands, looking justified.

Thinking about Amelia's character, Susan nodded. "Whatever happens, she brought it on herself."

"Who told her to mess with you? Anyone who offends you, I'll make them pay tenfold!" George said fiercely.

Seeing the ruthlessness in George's eyes, Susan felt a shiver. Even someone as sunny and elegant as George could be so cold and ruthless towards those he hated. But his words also moved her deeply. Having a man like George who would protect her in any situation was a blessing, but he wasn't the one in her heart.

"What's wrong?" George asked nervously, seeing Susan silent.

"Oh, nothing. You're all sweaty, go take a shower." Susan smiled.

"Okay." George smiled, took off his sweaty T-shirt, threw it on the sofa, and headed to the bathroom.

Susan watched TV on the sofa for a while, then the doorbell rang.

She put down the remote and got up to open the door, thinking it must be Serenity coming to cook. She usually had the key but must have forgotten it today.

Susan opened the door and froze when she saw Seb standing outside.
