Chapter 1099 You Must Be Strong
At this moment, Skylar looked up at the school building and said, "Daryl, your school is so beautiful!"
Hearing this, Daryl smiled and said, "The civil engineering school here is world-renowned, so naturally, the buildings are impressive too."
Upon hearing this, Skylar suddenly reached out and hugged Daryl's left arm, looking up and smiling. "Then can you introduce these buildings to me?"
In the end, Daryl had no choice but to point to the tallest and largest building in the distance and explain its history to Skylar, "That tallest and largest building was designed by the most famous architect of this school."
At this moment, Cecilia was just getting out of class, holding her books.
She glanced up casually and saw a familiar figure ahead.
At this moment, he was wearing a silver suit and speaking eloquently.
Beside him stood Skylar, dressed in an orange dress, her arm wrapped around Daryl's, looking up at him with admiration and affection in her eyes.
Seeing this scene, Cecilia was stunned.
She never expected Daryl to bring Skylar to the school; it seemed he wasn't afraid of running into her at all.
But maybe he didn't care about her at all; her existence probably didn't matter to his and Skylar's relationship.
Although she felt hurt and the scene before her was a bit harsh, Cecilia knew her place.
So, the next moment, Cecilia turned to leave in another direction.
"Cecilia?" At this moment, someone suddenly called her from behind.
Cecilia instinctively turned her head and saw that the person calling her was Skylar, who was standing next to Daryl.
Daryl's eyes darkened when he saw Cecilia.
Skylar, however, was very excited and let go of Daryl's arm, quickly walking up to Cecilia.
"Cecilia, is it really you?" Skylar examined Cecilia and asked enthusiastically.
"You know me?" Cecilia frowned slightly upon hearing this.
Although they went to the same university, Skylar was a prominent figure, and she naturally knew Skylar, but she didn't expect Skylar to know her.
Cecilia had started school early, and back then, she dressed simply and hadn't fully grown into her looks, so she had changed quite a bit.
"We're alumni, aren't we? Even though you're taller and prettier now, I still recognize you," Skylar said with a laugh.
Hearing this, Cecilia glanced at Daryl, who had walked over, and for a moment, didn't know how to respond to Skylar.
Cecilia reached up to touch her hair and could only compliment, "You look even more beautiful than before."
The next moment, Skylar pulled Daryl's arm and smiled. "Daryl, this is Cecilia, my old university classmate. I never expected to run into her in Northstar City."
At this moment, Daryl's eyes met Cecilia's in the air.
Cecilia's heart raced.
Looking up at Skylar again, she didn't know whether to admit she knew Daryl or pretend she didn't.
While Cecilia was hesitating, Daryl suddenly smiled at her and said, "Hello, Ms. Thorne."
Hearing this, Cecilia was stunned.
The next moment, Cecilia understood his meaning; he was pretending not to know her, probably to avoid making Skylar suspicious.
"Hello!" Cecilia forced a smile.
At this moment, Skylar smiled and stepped forward, taking Cecilia's hand and introducing, "Cecilia, this is Daryl. I came to visit him this time. But now that I've run into you, I was worried I wouldn't have company. You know Daryl is very busy with work; you can go shopping with me!"
Being held by Skylar, Cecilia felt very awkward.
Even though she and Skylar knew each other, they weren't close.
Perhaps because they were in a foreign country, Skylar suddenly so enthusiastic about her. After all, seeing a fellow Luminara person naturally felt more familiar, especially since they were university classmates.
So, Cecilia didn't think much of it.
"Skylar, Ms. Thorne must have a heavy course load too. Don't bother her; I can go shopping with you," Daryl suddenly said.
Hearing that, Cecilia was curious. 'Shopping with a woman? Is he the type to go shopping with a woman?'
During the few months they dated, she would buy little trinkets, but he always waited at the store entrance and never went in with her.
Now he was willing to go shopping with Skylar, which showed how important Skylar was to him.
But Skylar glanced at Daryl. "Do you call that shopping with me? You just say yes to everything, and the things we buy end up looking terrible. It's better for us girls to shop together to find satisfying things, right, Cecilia?"
Skylar smiled at Cecilia.
Cecilia could only nod and agree. "Yes."
At this moment, Skylar suddenly said excitedly, "See, Cecilia agrees. Give me your phone number, and I'll call you."
"Well." In the end, Cecilia had no choice but to give Skylar her phone number.
Daryl stood silently by, looking helpless.
Then, Cecilia quickly said to Skylar, "Skylar, I have something to do, so I have to go."
"Alright, see you another day." Skylar waved at Cecilia.
"See you another day." Cecilia waved back at Skylar and quickly left the scene.
Daryl watched Cecilia's departing figure, his brow furrowing slightly.
At this moment, Skylar stepped forward and hugged Daryl's arm, asking, "Daryl, isn't Cecilia particularly beautiful?"
Hearing this, Daryl withdrew his gaze and smiled. "Not as beautiful as you."
Hearing this, Skylar touched her face and said joyfully, "Really? You always know how to make me happy."
"When have I ever lied to you?" Daryl said.
"You've never lied to me," Skylar said, looking at Daryl with a smile.
For several days, Daryl didn't return to the villa.
Cecilia knew she had become his past; Daryl's heart and mind were probably only filled with Skylar now.
Cecilia quietly packed her belongings, only taking her own clothes. She didn't take any of the expensive, fashionable clothes from the walk-in closet.
She knew that soon, Daryl would discard her like a worn-out rag.
Although Cecilia felt very hurt, she told herself to be strong, and being sad wouldn't do her any good.
