Chapter 563 Understanding

After Leon dropped Susan back at the villa, she sat on the couch waiting for Seb to return.

The house was quiet. Mary and Kathy were at Dorothy's place with Spring and Hayden. Susan sat on the couch, feeling that time was passing unusually slowly.

It was a long time before she heard footsteps at the foyer, confirming that Seb had returned.

Susan suddenly stood up from the couch, took a step to greet him, but then stopped.

She felt a bit resentful. He had ignored her for so long, why should she rush to greet him?

The next moment, Seb turned into the living room. Seeing Susan, his face showed no expression. He threw the coat draped over his arm onto the couch, walked up to her, and asked, "Are you mad at me?"

Hearing this, Susan frowned, turned around, and sat back on the couch, pouting. "I've been doing great lately, what's there to be mad about?"

Seeing her turn her face away in annoyance, Seb smiled.

Then he sat down beside her, playing with the house keys in his hand.

After a long silence, Susan couldn't help but turn her head, only to see him deep in thought.

Susan asked sarcastically, "What are you daydreaming about? Did you meet some exotic ladies in Aelrystania?"

Hearing this, Seb smirked. "Do you think I'm that charming? How many foreign romances could I have in half a month?"

"Don't underestimate yourself, you have a knack for attracting admirers wherever you go." Susan glared at Seb.

Seeing her skeptical look, Seb smiled and took out a thick notebook, handing it to Susan.

Susan took the notebook suspiciously. When she opened it, she was stunned!

The thick notebook was filled with hundreds of pages of dense handwriting, which she immediately recognized as Seb's.

Looking closely at the dense writing, Susan realized it was a travel journal, recording daily itineraries, experiences, and feelings.

Seeing the journal, Susan's mouth dropped open.

At this moment, Seb looked at Susan and said with a smile, "This journal records all my travels, experiences, and thoughts over the past half month. Yes, it does mention a few pretty girls from Aelrystania, but it was just a brief encounter. My days were spent exploring, and my nights... well, my nights were spent writing all about it, for you."

Hearing this, Susan's face already had a smile.

Then she closed the notebook and said, "I know why you wrote this travel journal."

"Why?" Seb asked, frowning.

Susan met his gaze and smiled, saying, "You were afraid I'd throw a tantrum, so you wrote this journal to appease me, right?"

Hearing this, Seb smiled.

Then, his large hand suddenly grabbed her waist and pulled her onto his lap.

Susan couldn't help but exclaim, "What are you doing? It hurts."

At this moment, Seb suddenly pinched Susan's butt hard.

"Ouch! That hurts!" Susan immediately wailed.

"Does it hurt? You deserve to be punished!" Seb glared at Susan.

Susan naturally wrapped her arms around Seb's neck, raised her chin, and asked, "Why should I be punished? If anyone should be punished, it should be you first."

"You don't trust me, so you deserve to be punished!" Seb said seriously.

"How can I trust you? Going to a nightclub in the middle of the night, flirting with barmaids, leaving me and the kids behind for so many days to go to Aelrystania. Don't you think you deserve to be punished?" Susan accused.

Hearing this, Seb's face suddenly showed guilt.

Then he patted her shoulder and said, "I'm sorry, I do deserve to be punished, but you not trusting your husband also deserves punishment!"

Hearing this, Susan immediately reached out with both hands and pinched his cheeks hard, shouting in frustration, "Seb, I've hated you so much these days! You're a jerk, do you know how worried I was about you? I was worried about your safety, and you were off having a great time traveling abroad for half a month. Do you know how hard these days have been for me? Do you know how sad I was? I not only had to comfort my mom but also deal with my own guilt."

"My mom has been very emotional lately. I went to Rylee's house today to beg your mom to be lenient and forgive us, but I knew it was futile. If I were in her shoes, I'd be angry too. But what can I do? I can't just watch my mom suffer."

At this point, Susan, usually stoic, also shed tears.

Seeing Susan cry, Seb quickly took out a handkerchief to wipe her tears.

Then he looked at Susan deeply and said, "Actually, I've been feeling bad these days too. Although my parents have been at odds for years, I still had a complete family. But this time, at over thirty years old, I have to face my parents' divorce. I couldn't stay calm, so I decided to go on a trip to clear my mind. I really missed you, and I missed Hayden and Spring too."

Susan took the handkerchief from Seb and wiped her tears. "I know it's my fault. I regret it so much. I should have told you when I first noticed something was wrong. But I thought I could handle it, and it ended up being irreparable."

Seeing Susan's guilt, Seb put his arm around her shoulder and said calmly, "Even if you had told me, I would have just warned my dad. You should understand, when feelings come, nothing can stop them."

"That's true," Susan nodded in agreement.

"You still think you're right?" Seb looked down at Susan and asked.

Susan replied confidently, "Of course I'm right. I've been through it too. Weren't we very restrained back then? But in the end, we couldn't control our own hearts."

"Yes, you can control a person, but not their heart," Seb nodded.

Susan smiled sweetly.

Seb continued, "Actually, thinking about it, my parents' lives have been sad. They've been at odds all their lives, and now in their old age, finding someone they love is a good thing. My dad found someone he likes, but my mom is left alone."
