Chapter 502 Inappropriate

Seeing Susan's eager face, Seb couldn't help but grin. He pulled her close, running his fingers through her hair, and said, "It's true, babe. Don't make me say that mushy stuff again, it gives me the creeps too."

Susan, snuggled against Seb's chest, burst out laughing.

"What's so funny? I'm dead serious. Lately, I feel like a teenager again. If I don't see you for a few hours, I start missing you like crazy. I even say stuff that normally makes me cringe just to see you smile. You're a part of me now, and if you leave me again, I'll be wrecked." With that, Seb hugged her tighter.

Susan didn't expect him to get all sentimental. Touched, she playfully stroked his stubbled chin and said, "You said no more cheesy stuff, but this is next-level cheesy; it's making me melt!"

Seb's big hand started to wander over her body. "Oh yeah? Let me check."

Susan giggled and squirmed. "Stop it, it tickles!"

"Let me help you with that." Seb leaned in closer.

Susan quickly grabbed his arm and pleaded, "Alright, our wedding's in five days. Save your energy."

Seb raised an eyebrow. "Save my energy for what?"

Susan blushed and said shyly, "You planning to waste our wedding night?"

Seb's lips curled into a grin. "You underestimate me. Even if I don't save my energy, our wedding night will be unforgettable."

"Get outta here!" Susan pushed him away and turned over.

Seb wrapped his arm around her waist. "You don't believe in my skills?"

"I do, but my stamina isn't as good. I need to save my energy," Susan quickly said.

She knew Seb's stamina well, but she was genuinely feeling overwhelmed. Lately, she felt like she was floating during the day, thanks to his high nighttime demands. She really needed to start working out to keep up with him.

Hearing her give in, Seb smiled and lay down behind her. "I'll let you off tonight."

Susan finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Then, she thought of Catherine and frowned slightly before tentatively saying, "Seb."

"Hmm?" Seb, with his eyes closed, responded softly.

"I went to the hospital to talk to my mom. She's worried that if a caregiver takes care of your dad, your mom might freak out when she comes. I think you should talk to your dad," Susan said cautiously. Seb knew her too well, and she didn't want him to know her suspicions. If it turned out to be true, Seb might blow a gasket.

"Okay." Seb, probably tired, only responded with one word.

At this moment, Susan turned her head and saw that he had already closed his eyes. She reached out and nudged him. "Don't forget."

"Don't worry, I won't," Seb said, and his breathing became steady.

Susan knew he was out cold, so she didn't push it.

The next evening, Seb rolled in from work.

Susan, playing with Spring, asked, "Did you talk to your dad?"

"Yeah, I did," Seb said, handing his briefcase to Kathy.

"How'd it go?" Susan asked eagerly.

She really wanted Catherine out of that mess ASAP.

"My dad said your mom can go home tomorrow," Seb replied, reaching out to hold Spring.

Hearing this, Susan smiled and felt a wave of relief.

The next morning, Susan headed to the hospital to visit Todd and take Catherine home.

When Todd saw Susan, he was still super kind and polite. After Susan explained why she was there, she noticed a flicker of disappointment in Todd's eyes, while Catherine seemed really hesitant. Their eyes were having a whole silent convo.

Seeing this, Susan became more convinced her worries weren't just in her head. During this period of time, something must've sparked between them.

"Todd, I'll come back to take care of you after Seb and Susan get hitched," Catherine said reluctantly before leaving.

Todd, being a man and once a big shot, knew how to keep his cool. He looked deeply at Catherine and said calmly, "After they get married, I'll head to a rehab center."

Catherine nodded and then left with Susan.

Susan got the hint in Todd's words. He meant Catherine should go find him at the rehab center.

For a moment, Susan felt super uncomfortable. She really didn't know how to handle this mess.

If Catherine had found another suitable partner, she'd be all for it. But now, her partner was Seb's dad, and there was also Carol. How did Catherine end up as the other woman?

Susan knew it was wrong to think this way. Maybe Catherine and Todd were just emotionally leaning on each other without anything else, but she still felt uneasy.

Walking along the hospital path, Catherine kept glancing back at Todd's window.

In the taxi on the way back, Catherine kept mumbling, "I've been taking care of Todd these days, and he's gotten used to it. That caregiver is too young, I doubt she can handle it. His leg is just starting to get better; nothing can go wrong now..."

Finally, Susan couldn't take it anymore and said sternly, "Mom, Todd still has Carol. You don't need to worry so much."

Catherine didn't catch Susan's tone and kept going, "You know what Carol's like. She only visited twice at the start and then left Todd alone in the hospital for so many days. Lately, she hasn't even called."

"No matter how bad she is, she's still Todd's wife and Seb's mom. They're the real family. I'm just a daughter-in-law, and you're just an in-law," Susan reminded her, trying not to be too harsh.

Hearing this, Catherine looked up and met Susan's eyes. At that moment, Catherine seemed to get it and fell silent, her eyes filled with sadness and helplessness.
