Chapter 1153 Lost Contact
Hearing that Daryl and Skylar's wedding was canceled, Cecilia felt like she was in a fog.
Hearing her colleagues' speculations, Cecilia sat at her desk, feeling lost.
At this moment, Marcella walked up to Cecilia's desk and whispered, "It's a good thing Victoria's exclusive interview didn't get published. If it had, it would be old news by now."
"Marcella, congratulations," Cecilia said to Marcella with a smile.
But in her heart, she still couldn't fully accept that Daryl and Skylar had canceled their wedding.
"Just support me more in the future." Marcella smiled.
For several days in a row, the tabloids in Maple Valley were filled with news and wild speculations about Daryl and Skylar canceling their wedding.
However, this time the Fields Group's official statement placed all the blame on Daryl, indicating that the issue was likely his fault.
Cecilia couldn't understand it.
'Isn't Skylar Daryl's true love? Why would they suddenly cancel the wedding? Could it be because of my diary?' Cecilia thought of this and suddenly felt ridiculous.
She meant nothing to Daryl, so he would never call off the wedding because of her. Calling off a wedding was a huge disgrace for a prestigious family like the Fields.
In the following days, Cecilia forced herself not to overthink. She went to work and came home on time, took walks, and took care of her pregnancy.
In the living room of the Tate Villa, Skylar sat on the couch with red, swollen eyes. Next to her sat her mother, full of anger, and on a single sofa sat Daryl's mother.
Charlotte lashed out at Azalea. "How could Daryl do such a thing? Canceling the wedding on the day of the ceremony, does he think the Tate Family is a joke? Look at Skylar, it's only been a few days, and look at what she's become!"
Charlotte grew angrier as she spoke, her face becoming increasingly unpleasant.
Azalea could only humble herself and speak kindly, "I know it's all our fault. We owe Skylar an apology. Skylar is such a good girl; we really don't deserve her. Now we just hope Skylar won't be too sad. It's all Daryl's fault. When we find him, his father and I will definitely teach him a lesson and make him apologize to Skylar in person. We'll hold an even grander wedding, and you can live happily ever after!"
Hearing this, Charlotte angrily said, "Daryl has clearly abandoned Skylar. In that case, there is no need for Skylar to marry Daryl. There are countless people who would marry our Skylar."
"You're right, it's all our fault. Please forgive us. Daryl must have lost his mind; otherwise, he wouldn't have done this." Azalea felt dejected and didn't know what else to say.
Skylar, with her red, swollen eyes, looked at Azalea and asked, "Azalea, is there still no news of Daryl?"
Azalea frowned and shook her head. Sadly, she said, "It's been several days, and there's no news at all. We don't know where he is or if he's safe. Skylar, I feel he must have his reasons. You have to understand him!"
Saying this, Azalea took out a handkerchief and wiped her tears.
Hearing this, Skylar worriedly said, "Where could Daryl have gone? What's going on with him?"
Seeing Skylar's worried expression, Charlotte sneered. "He has hurt you so badly, and now the Tate Family has become the laughingstock of Maple Valley. And you still have the heart to worry about him?"
"Mom, please stop. I believe Daryl must have his reasons for doing this. He wouldn't intentionally hurt me," Skylar shouted at Charlotte and then ran upstairs, covering her mouth.
"Skylar!" Charlotte immediately stood up, her eyes filled with worry as she watched Skylar's retreating figure.
After Skylar went upstairs, Charlotte naturally didn't show Azalea any kindness. Azalea didn't stay long, with a few more kind words, and then left.
"Mom." Elijah, who was waiting at the Tate Villa gate, saw Azalea come out and went up to support her.
Seeing Elijah, Azalea patted his hand and said, "Don't worry, I'm fine."
"Mom, did the Tate family give you a hard time?" Elijah asked.
Azalea frowned and said, "They just said some harsh words, which I can handle. I'm just afraid that if they really get desperate, it will be bad for Fields Group!"
Then Azalea asked, "Elijah, is there still no news of Daryl?"
"We've searched all over Maple Valley, but there's no news at all," Elijah replied.
"Where do you think Daryl could have gone?" Azalea said worriedly.
At this moment, Elijah comforted her, "Mom, don't worry. Daryl always knows what he's doing. I think now is not the right time for him to appear, given that he's in the spotlight."
"But Fields Group can't do without him. And now your father is in this condition," Azalea said.
"I've already asked Douglas. He said that before Daryl left, he had arranged everything for the company. Even if Daryl doesn't come back for a month, there won't be any problems. Douglas is the person Daryl trusts the most, and he wouldn't lie. He also said that Daryl is safe but just needs to lay low for a while," Elijah said.
Hearing this, Azalea nodded. "I have no other choice but to wait for a few days until Daryl comes back to clean up this mess."
After saying this, Azalea got into the car with Elijah's help.
In a scenic area on the outskirts of Maple Valley, a clear stream flowed past a villa.
By the stream sat two young men fishing. They were both dressed in outdoor sportswear, one in his thirties and the other under thirty. They were chatting and seemed quite relaxed.
The older man was handsome, with a natural air of righteousness between his brows. His expression was serious, and he rarely smiled.
"I really admire that you can still fish at a time like this," George said with a smile, looking at Daryl beside him.
"It's rare for me to escape the hustle and bustle for a few days. I really have to thank you for this secluded villa," Daryl replied.
Hearing this, George smiled. "Right now, the Fields and the Tate Families are turning Maple Valley upside down. For someone your age to have such composure, you'll definitely achieve great things in the future!"
