Chapter 1125 Accusation
In an instant, Calista's voice and attitude changed completely.
Cecilia was still in shock from suddenly encountering Barry, so she responded a bit slowly.
As a result, Calista immediately glared and scolded, "Cecilia, did you hear what I said? Go make some tea, will you?"
"Okay." The next moment, Cecilia snapped out of it and quickly turned to the break room.
When Barry heard the name Cecilia, he was taken aback. But by the time he turned around, Cecilia had already gone to the break room, so he didn't see who Cecilia was.
"Cecilia?" Barry was momentarily lost in thought.
Seeing Barry's dazed look, Calista smiled and explained, "She's a new employee, usually just doing odd jobs."
Upon hearing this, a hint of disappointment flashed in Barry's eyes.
"By the way, how about we discuss the details of these document illustrations in the conference room?" Calista invited enthusiastically.
"Sure, you can tell me the effect you want, and I'll convey it to the artists in my studio," Barry said.
"Great." Hearing Barry agree, Calista was overjoyed. After all, it wasn't easy to find an opportunity to be alone with Barry.
The next moment, just as Calista was about to lead Barry to the small conference room, Cecilia walked in carrying two cups of tea.
When Barry saw Cecilia with the tea, his eyes widened in surprise.
"Cecilia?" Barry exclaimed in astonishment the next moment.
He could hardly believe his eyes, seeing the Cecilia he had longed for right here.
"Barry, hello!" Seeing that Barry had already noticed her, Cecilia had no choice but to look up and greet him.
The next moment, Barry stepped forward and asked, "What are you doing here? Are you the one doing odd jobs?"
By the time he asked the last question, Barry's brows were already furrowed.
Sensing Barry's concern, Cecilia was momentarily speechless, not knowing what to say, especially with everyone around them watching.
At this moment, Calista, not understanding the situation, said, "She's new here, and it's customary to start from the bottom. Why, do you know each other?"
Calista's eyes glanced at Barry and then at Cecilia, her brows twitching slightly. Based on her intuition, she seemed to sense something was off.
"I..." Cecilia was about to say something.
Unexpectedly, Barry happily said, "We're friends."
Moreover, Barry's gaze at Cecilia was so focused that he seemed to see no one else. He was still immersed in the joy of reuniting with Cecilia.
Hearing this, Cecilia lowered her head, as she saw the jealousy and hostility in Calista's eyes.
The next moment, Barry stepped forward and took the two cups of tea from Cecilia's hands, then turned and handed them to Calista.
"Calista, I'm sorry, I need to talk to my friend for a few minutes. You can email me about the illustrations." With that, Barry took Cecilia's hand and led her out of the office.
Standing there, with a cup of tea in each hand, Calista was left in the lurch.
For a moment, the office staff were all dumbfounded.
Some lowered their heads and chuckled.
Seeing people chuckling, Calista angrily slammed the two cups of tea on the table and shouted, "What's so funny? Get back to work! If the drafts aren't done by the end of the day, no one is leaving!"
With that, Calista angrily sat down at her desk, her lips turning color from anger.
Barry led Cecilia to a small conference room.
Cecilia frowned and said, "Barry, I'm at work."
Barry, however, smiled and pulled out a chair for Cecilia, pressing her to sit down.
He then pulled out another chair and sat across from Cecilia.
Barry smiled at Cecilia, as if admiring a treasure. "Cecilia, don't worry, I'll only take a few minutes of your time. I'm so thrilled today, I didn't expect to see you here."
"I'm surprised too," Cecilia said sincerely.
"By the way, how did you come back so soon?" Barry asked curiously.
Hearing this, Cecilia hesitated for a moment before saying, "I got my degree early, so I came back to find a job and support myself!"
Cecilia hid the truth, as being pregnant out of wedlock wasn't something to be proud of, and she couldn't reveal her pregnancy now, fearing she might get fired.
Hearing this, Barry nodded repeatedly, then suddenly furrowed his brows and asked, "Did Daryl come back too?"
"Yes." Cecilia nodded vaguely.
Upon hearing this, Barry seemed to understand something and nodded, saying, "The editor-in-chief here, Seraphine, is my mother. If you have any difficulties, you can go to her. She's very kind and will definitely help you!"
Cecilia gratefully nodded. "Thank you, but I don't really need Seraphine's help. I just need to work hard and do my job well."
"You're very capable, I'm sure you'll do great," Barry said, his eyes full of admiration.
"Well, I won't take up your time. I heard you're very busy, running an art studio. I need to get back to work too." Cecilia understood she couldn't chat with Barry for too long during work hours, or it would surely cause gossip.
Barry understood Cecilia's thoughts and stood up, saying, "This isn't the place to talk. How about I treat you to dinner another day, and we can have a proper chat?"
Hearing this, Cecilia was taken aback, unsure whether to agree or refuse.
If she agreed, it would be embarrassed because she understood Barry's feelings for her; if she refused, it would seem too heartless to turn down a friend's reunion.
Barry noticed Cecilia's hesitation and considerately said, "Of course, you should get Daryl's permission. I don't mean anything else, just a chat."
"Okay, maybe in a few days. I'm a bit busy right now," Cecilia quickly said.
Although Barry mentioned Daryl, Cecilia's response was still ambiguous. She felt there was no need to tell Barry that she and Daryl had broken up.
Hearing Cecilia agree, Barry was delighted. "See you another day then."
"See you." Cecilia smiled.
Barry waved at Cecilia, and Cecilia waved back before quickly leaving the small conference room.
As soon as Cecilia returned, Marcella pulled her aside and whispered.
"What's your relationship with that Barry?" Marcella asked, gossiping.
