Chapter 1367 Paternity Test Report

At that moment, Azalea chuckled, "What wouldn't I give to my future daughter-in-law? Especially since she's carrying my grandchild!"

Azalea's words made Elowen's face turn even redder.

"Mom, are you already calling Elowen your daughter-in-law? I thought you'd at least ask about her family's background," Elijah teased with a grin.

"You cheeky boy, always teasing your mom. I've come to realize that as long as you young people are happy together, that's all that matters. Life's too short to worry about superficial stuff," Azalea said, looking at her eldest son.

Hearing this, Daryl turned and sat down, while Elijah understood his mother's message.

"Since she's already pregnant, let's start planning the wedding. There's a good date next month, no need to delay. Let's get it done quickly so I can be at peace!" Azalea said with a smile.

Elijah nodded immediately, "Elowen and I were thinking the same thing."

At this point, Daryl, who had been silent, finally spoke up.

Daryl looked at Elowen and said, "You look familiar. Have we met before?"

He pondered but couldn't recall.

Elijah laughed, "Daryl, you have a good eye. Elowen works at Cecilia's café."

Both Daryl and Azalea were taken aback!

Daryl suddenly remembered visiting that city over half a year ago to see Cecilia, and indeed, this girl was a barista at the café.

Azalea asked in surprise, "She works at Cecilia's café?"

"Cecilia is our boss," Elowen nodded quickly.

"No wonder you kept going to that city. You were dating her employee," Azalea finally understood.

Daryl, sitting at the dining table, also realized the situation, his brows furrowed, struggling to accept the sudden change.

Soon, under Finn's direction, the servants brought out one exquisite dish after another.

The more Azalea looked at Elowen, the more she liked her, treating her with extra warmth.

Daryl, however, remained silent the entire evening, while Elijah occasionally glanced at him.

After dinner, Azalea asked Elijah to take Elowen to rest.

When only Azalea and Daryl were left in the living room, Azalea kindly said, "Daryl, there are many things you need to figure out."

Daryl didn't respond, slowly standing up, "Mom, I'm going upstairs to rest."

Azalea nodded, "You should rest and think things over."

Daryl said nothing, quietly heading upstairs.

In his bedroom, Daryl wore a burgundy robe, leaning against the headboard, a cigarette between his fingers, the smoke rising in disdain.

The robe was from when he and Cecilia first got married. He didn't know why, but after his bath tonight, he felt compelled to wear it.

In the dead of night, there was a sudden knock on his door.

No one usually knocked at this hour. Daryl frowned before calling out, "Come in!"

The door opened gently, and a tall figure stepped inside.

Seeing it was Elijah, Daryl was taken aback.

Since their fallout, Elijah had never set foot in Daryl's room, and vice versa.

Elijah took a step into the room, looking at Daryl leaning against the headboard, "Daryl, can we talk?"

Despite Daryl's misunderstandings, Elijah still respected his older brother, only losing his temper twice in heated moments.

Daryl's mind was also unsettled. He had considered talking to Elijah but held back.

Seeing his brother approach, Daryl got out of bed, "Sure."

Elijah coughed twice as he entered, the smoke in the room stinging his nose.

Daryl nonchalantly walked to the window, opening it. A cold breeze immediately blew in.

It was winter, and the night wind was even colder. Standing by the window in just a robe, Daryl didn't shiver.

Seeing this, Elijah frowned, stepping forward to close the window halfway, leaving a small gap.

"You'll catch a cold," Elijah reminded him.

Daryl replied indifferently, "I'm used to it."

For the past two years, he had been smoking constantly, opening the window in the dead of winter had become routine.

"Do you realize that for over two years, you've been torturing not just yourself but others too? Is this really good?" Elijah couldn't hold back.

"You didn't come here just to tell me this, did you?" Daryl extinguished his cigarette in the ashtray.

Elijah frowned, "No, of course not."

"Then say what you need to," Daryl said expressionlessly.

Elijah felt a bit frustrated with Daryl's attitude.

He thought bringing Elowen home would help Daryl open up, but Daryl remained as despondent as ever. So, Elijah had to take matters into his own hands.

Elijah put his hands in his pockets, "You should understand why I went to Cecilia's city every month by now."

Daryl didn't respond, his lips twitching slightly.

"I admit I had feelings for Cecilia before, but she was your wife. I buried those feelings deep inside. Even without Thaddeus, I wouldn't have dared to covet her. Now, I love Elowen. My heart is with her. I'm being honest with you because I think it's time for us to reconcile," Elijah said, his voice emotional, eyes misty.

Seeing Daryl still silent, Elijah frowned, "I know Thaddeus is like a thorn in your heart. Today, I'm going to remove that thorn."

With that, Elijah pulled a piece of paper from his pocket, handing it to Daryl.

Daryl frowned, "What's this?"

"A paternity test," Elijah replied.

Daryl was stunned!
